Milan axe falls on Leonardo
29 April 2010
LEONARDO will quit as AC Milan boss at the end of the season.
Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi criticised the Brazilian, who only took the job last summer.
The Italian prime minister said: "Yes he will leave, we are working on a new coach.
"The new coach? There are talks in place with others.
"Leonardo has been too tough headed and the team has played badly this season."
Leonardo had a rough start both in the league and Champions League.
But the team steadily improved and were challenging rivals Inter for the Serie A title until falling behind in March.
Milan reached the first knockout round of the Champions League but lost 7-2 on aggregate to Manchester United.

I wouldn't mind Benitez (he loves european cups) or Wenger (he loves kids) but as both are not the good art buying established players it would work out for us as the owner buys players.
The downside to this 'experiment' is as i previously said we have lost a really good scout.

RB is overrated and Wenger is the type of manager that will demand a hands off and silence from his owners-which is something that Berlu can't handle.
As long as Berlu and Galli are in charge of MIlan, I really don't expect to see any quality coach coming in
Rafa? no ****ing way.
he cant do anything with 300 billion dollars, what will he do with Milan's 2 euro budget..
Sad to lose Leo as a scout but as a manager he's totally unproven. Yes he's squeezed as much blood as he could out of this lineup but it's still not enough. He's created this formation that relies on 2 starters and when one or both is out of form or injured, our team goes to ****. That is not the mark of a good manager. The team has to be geared from match day 1 until the end of the season. Leo's team has died since March and we would be in great danger at the moment if someone behind us had more points.
Don't cry over spilt milk, if Leo had bombed this year, people wouldn't care one bit about his sacking. Look at this with a bigger picture.

Every other team is the same, a team full of galacticos too, a team like Liverpool too. Most teams go south losing 1, not 2, players.
Judging a coach by tactics and motivational skills is one thing, dependence on a player is universal.
No back-ups, no mid, no proper centre forward, a system chosen to appease the presidents fav player. He done a great job. He could've gave the youth more chances, and putting up wth B&G on a regular basis is a sainthood in football.
Im sorry but injuries happen in every sport. It's up to the manager to put the team in the right position to win. Like it has been pointed out by others...games vs manchester for example, Leo has showed horrible tactics.
And his unwillingness to go to another formation considering we have no wingers shows how stubborn he is. People used to hate Carlo for not infusing youth and relying on older players. Well those older players worked...Leo's formation isn't.
We're in 3rd place because our team is a good squad and ONLY a good squad, not great. Not because of Leo...
^^ We're third place because Leo worked a miracle by changing formation to suit Dinho. If you recall how bad we were before that formation change we looked like a mid-table side. Leo is the one responsible for taking that mid-table team and changing it into a team that actually had MULTIPLE chances to go top of the table, but alas the players' age caught up to them in the final sprint.
This is the 1000th thread in this section!!! its a milestone, bt jst hw do we 'celebrate' it?

This just proves what an idiot Berlu is. Once again he's putting his own ego ahead of the club. Leo has done a tremendous job with very limited resources, and I honestly don't know who could come in and do a better job.

OK, but please post the same thing on Klaas Jan Huntelaar thread as well. Thanks!
I am in the middle... form the 75% of the responsiblity is in the board.... which good squad? with Favalli as a CB? with only Pato in front, only Nesta quality CB...?
Berlu ... shut.... the... f.... go away you humiliate the best club in world (a club you built in the past). go to the lollitas and leave us... no more... yelling at us...
Leo... he didn't have resourses but he used Hunte as a MR, Borriello was playing even when he was not in good conditon so 25% responsibility..
RB is overrated... Wenger will not leave us for our silly president...
He will go to a dogie coach... he will sell 2 & 3 good players we have...
what a horrible coach gtfo pos :wth:
 i am sure we will get rid of this useless coach.
:haha: :haha:
btw Carlo in his last 2 seasons=Crap>>>>>>>Losernardo (another one of fan favoritism)

According to La Republicca and Corriere dello Sport, Van Basten has held meetings with Berlusconi and Galliani. Seems as though he might be our next coach - he does appear to be Berlu's preferred choice, at least.
The good news is that he is demanding a big transfer budget!
And Leo really seems to be on his way out. If he was staying, he would have said so already.

The bold part, how do you know? Any information about that in the news on La Republicca/Corriere dello Sport?

Well, I should have known better than to post rumors from tribalfootball.com, lol. Van Basten just told Sky Sport that he can't coach Milan because of a problem with his ankle (huh?).
Oh well... It's Galli and Tassotti then. Galli could actually be a good choice, but I would prefer someone with more pedigree.
???? I don't get it. So, all about MVB was only rumours tribatfootball produced?

He probably plans to come back to Milan sooner or later as a coach and player ... :D

No, tribalfootball just quoted La Republicca and Corriere dello Sport, who were actually behind these rumors :)

come on, Galli has done nothing in his coaching career, and don't tell me its the case with leonardo. Galli has primavera to handle and still he did not manage to win any thing or to promote a first team player. this means alot. and this year performance is due to the new guy they got from liverpool not galli. so this guy has failure written all over him.
it's official, Leo's out. Can't say i'm sad, bt i think 1 more year wouldnt have been bad. bt its already in the past.
Now for a coach that won't be suprised when SAF man-marks Pirlo!

When u see a sad milan fan that Leo has left...believe me its mostly not because he left..its more of what it means for the club, Ask yourself why he left....the answer won`t be his inability...that what worries me,thats why I`m sad.
I`m even more sad that i know that Galli or Tassoti are coming..I have respect for them..but I`f they are appointed..it only means they have agree to do whatever Berlu wants.
Not a good move, nothing more to add that hasn't been said by me and others before.
Molto grazie, Berlusconi...
Post Scriptum.

Well, it was no shock at this point. Seems like it's been decided a while ago. Just a confirmation that our club is falling apart.

I firmly believe that given a few years, and some money, Leo would be a winner with Milan. This however, is not possible. We have to win now, and with a shoe-string budget.
Basically, we need God, or one of His angels to coach the team (or maybe the devil himself) if we are to win anything in the near future, based on the new penny-pinching approach being taken by B&G....that said, I think its a decision that will bode well for us when Platini´s rules against "financial doping" to use a phrase coined by Wenger, comes into effect.
Regardless, I am a Milanista for life....coaches, players, and evenowners will change...Milan, and my love for the red & black will remain constant.
