Yes Kaka has been great, in many ways has been the last shinning star within a falling squad but in the end, KAKA is only ONE player.
If you are an Idealist then u probably will have a hard time understanding this move. Whereas if your a pragmatic person then this deal makes all and complete sense. Having said that and seeing as many here have assessed the pros and cons, im sure many already have a good idea of the opportunity cost of loosing kaka. But many have not assessed the idea that kaka's value will plummet in 2-3 years. Kaka is turning 27 and is a player whose pace and agility are his main physical qualities; physical qualities that will drop in age and in turn make him less valuable as a player on the pitch and as a commodity in the transfer market. Everyone remebers how 2 and half seasons ago Ronaldinho was the most expensive player but within literally 2 seaons or maybe a bit more, Ronadinho went from being the most expensive player to costing less then a brazilian rightback, a flop winger, ect. Point is, Kaka's value will drop not only as a commodity but in how fans see him as well. Fans are fickle and as soon as kaka's performances drop, so will his position in the eyes of many fans. In short, this move can allow a declining player to be sold for maximum profit and be replaced by much needed players that the squad requires. Last edited by Kerlz; 16-01-2009 at 10:58. |
