Yes Kaka has been great, in many ways has been the last shinning star within a falling squad but in the end, KAKA is only ONE player.

If you are an Idealist then u probably will have a hard time understanding this move. Whereas if your a pragmatic person then this deal makes all and complete sense.

Having said that and seeing as many here have assessed the pros and cons, im sure many already have a good idea of the opportunity cost of loosing kaka.

But many have not assessed the idea that kaka's value will plummet in 2-3 years. Kaka is turning 27 and is a player whose pace and agility are his main physical qualities; physical qualities that will drop in age and in turn make him less valuable as a player on the pitch and as a commodity in the transfer market.

Everyone remebers how 2 and half seasons ago Ronaldinho was the most expensive player but within literally 2 seaons or maybe a bit more, Ronadinho went from being the most expensive player to costing less then a brazilian rightback, a flop winger, ect.

Point is, Kaka's value will drop not only as a commodity but in how fans see him as well. Fans are fickle and as soon as kaka's performances drop, so will his position in the eyes of many fans.

In short, this move can allow a declining player to be sold for maximum profit and be replaced by much needed players that the squad requires.

You can't compare Dinho and Kaka': Dinho wasn't wanted anymore by his club, he didn't play for almost a year, press mentionned many problems, all that forced Barcelona to put a lower price ...

For Kaka', it's different, he is wanted, he always plays (always when he is fit actually, and often even when he is not), there never were any problems with him. By the way, he could become even stronger until 30-31, and then his form will start to decrease ... normally (look at Del Piero ... I hate this guy, can't say why, but I have to admit it's a very strong player).

And nothing is done anyway, and if we don't sell him now, we will have to be careful about Real Madrid this summer (Florentino Perez coming back there with promises I think), and if he stays too, then we'll be ok for years, even until he retires ...

In general Kaka is more of a proffesional than Ronaldinho and yes he probably wont make the mistakes the later has.

But then again Ronaldinho wasnt wanted by his club mainly because his perfomances dropped. Which was the other point i was trying to make. As soon as his level drops, the club and fans alike will mellow down and then just like ronaldinho, kaka wont be considered as an essential piece anymore. Like i said fans, club directors are fickle.

But u do have a point, kaka can do a del piero although del piero was never known for his speed, on the other hand, its one of Kaka's main physical qualities.

Again, Kaka will not leave. I'm sure love will be shown to Kaka from the fans on Saturday and Kaka will show as some love by Scoring and showing as a t shirt that says how much he loves this club and us fans.

Kerlz, Ronaldinho form dropped: he was great, he played good. It's just that when you have Eto'o and Messi being excellent at the same time, they all bashed Ronaldinho in Barcelona ...

Kaka' has already had a drop in his form: last year and for moment, this year ... but we mainly want him to stay anyway because we're sure he'll come back to his best level someday.

ZvonimirBoban, there aren't a lot of reports about that from France, almost none actually ... and Cris can't be a solution, I hate this player (second player from Lyon that I hate, there is also Fred, Govou and maybe others, don't remember lol): he makes a lot of faults and he was injured at the start of the season, he played very bad in almost each game he played ...

Interesting. On one hand, Milan could sure use all that money. But on the other hand, who are they going to buy to replace Kaka (of course, at that price they can buy several players, but, really can any player today replace him? As things stand now?)? Honestly, I don't see anyone out there that's better. Some may have the potential to, but we all know how mercurial that is. Or will Berlusconi/Galliani even use all that money to buy players? That's kind of up in the air, I would assume. Well, Kaka's spiritual advisor (or church or whatever it is) will be getting a lot of coin too, and one cannot underestimate the influence of that (as well as the family/agent). Interesting.
As for me, I agree with Mrki.
I wonder on what side of the equation (honor and pride v. more money than most people have ever seen) Kaka falls on?
Anyway...
Whatever happens vis a vis Kaka, I still just don't see Manchester City ever being some type of super club. Those sheiks are going to get tired of losing money after a while and only making the UEFA Cup/Europa League or first rounds (the let's play in Bulgaria or Belarus rounds) of the Champions League. Hell, I understand even the best teams lose money, for spartan rewards most of the time.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG WRONGWRONG

1) There are NUMEROUS financial implications that negate Kaka's resale value
2) The deal could change football transfers forever exponential inflation in a recession
3) Nobody is going to sell players to us cheap knowing how much we made
4) No player in the world = Kaka atm
5) When Maldini goes Kaka IS the heart of Milan (gattuso is the soul)
6) Selling him means losing more than a great player
7) When Kaka gets older and his performances drop...the MAJORITY of us will STILL appreciate him for what he has done for us thus far. (Maldini, ADP, Zanetti)
8)B&G likely to pocket a large % of the cash thereby still keeping us in the position where we need players ($heva sale anyone?)
9) Pato's hero and a good mentor to the rest of the squad is lost
10) Half the players with PACE will be gone

Away with you and your "pragmatic" pseudo-Juventino analysis of disposing of our HERO. OUR players aren't commodities (with a few notable exceptions of course)

No kaka may not be replaceable by a single player(although messi is defenitely up there), Kaka can be replaced by 2-3 players. Quality can be spread in quantity on the pitch. This in many ways can strengthen the squad.

Your definetely an idealist with the whole heart and soul talk. Im sure Pato will be the heart of milan in a few years time. Also, Comparing Zanetti and Maldini, two defenders who have had to adapt new positions because of their age hardly credits your argument. Kaka is an attacking player, who doesnt possess the physique of the later two.

If by any chance we sell Kaka, I don't anyone less than Messi will be able to replace him and that's next to impossible.

Thats not always true mate..some of us stil write $heva istead of sheva, thats because we dont see our team only as a football part, for some of us milan is also sentiments and memories..the same motivation that makes me write $heva, the same motivation that we cant speak bad for maldini,is the same one that will make us not forget ricky if he refuses that kind of offer just to be with us....

that kind of desisions make a leader from a captain..he wont be just a player or even "just" our captain in a few years, hell be our leader..

And again, his form has already dropped since he got the Golden Ball ... we still all love this player. Most of Milan fans are loyal, as our players are (and we expect them to be), and if we weren't, we would bash everyday almost each single player of our team because of the poor performances of the team ... and even when we bash a player, we don't necessary hope he'll be sold.

That said, everyone can think whatever he wants ^^

Why do you even bother to support Milan?? trophies? prestige? what is the reason? I support the club because of what it represents (or at least what I THOUGHT it represented)...YES I'm an idealist!! Football IS about emotion....it serves ABSOLUTELY no purpose other than emotion. A by-product of football is buisness. When the by-product becomes the entity the very nature of the entity becomes corrupted.

I'm tired of fans who claim to divorce themselves of emotion when making decisions....There are MANY pragmatically illogical things AC Milan have done over the years and you know what ? It makes me love them more. If you want a pragmatic, sound, thrifty club please become a Juventino.

Do you honestly think that some of the players on our squad deserve to be there?? even some that we revere?
Gattuso: awful passer, shooter and not the brightest bulb
Maldini: SLOW, and increasingly error prone with age
Seedorf: See above
Pirlo: See above + lost free kick ability and increasingly un creative

Yet we appreciate and respect these players deeply...when we should be eager to replace them with the abundance of far more efficient players in their position. Take your pragmatism somewhere else please.
I'm logging out of here too the lack of loyalty is amazing/disconcerting......go watch indecent proposal....because I'm sure that many here would let some millionaire sleep with their wives if the price is right

Drucurl, I feel you, but you must understand that 100M+pounds for one single player is really a huge deal, there are clubs in Series A that probably won't worth 100M+pounds.

Anyone would consider this deal, whether to go through with it is another question.

Personally, I think Kaka already made his decision, but media just want to keep this saga up. Thats only b.c Milan is struggling now. Once we start to play better and winning, none of these BS will ever come up. To be honest, i thought Kaka was going to leave to Real this summer but I just don't have the same feeling now, as Kaka is not stupid and he wants to WIN WIN WIN and WIN. He understands that Milan is in much better shape than Man City, and if Kaka wants to win the WC2010, he will stay with Milan as he will form a much better understanding with guys like R80, Pato and T.Silva with Adriano coming in the summer.
