Season 2004/2005 (transfers/rumours/news)

First a thank you to Rodriguez for starting the 2003/2004 thread. As that season now is over, I thought it would be a good idea to start a 2004/2005 thread to carry the torch into the upcoming season.

I know that im goin of the topic here, but because it is relating Milan's future for season 05/06, I thought i post this. The source is AC Milan Online.

Milan are already at work in an attempt to sign Atletico Madrid ace Fernando Torres for the 2005/06 season.

The 20-year-old is considered as one of Spain’s most promising strikers and numerous clubs have been linked.

Manchester United and Juventus are monitoring his situation but the Rossoneri seem to be in pole position.

That is because Atletico reportedly still owe Milan around £17m after signing Cosmin Contra and Javi Moreno in the past.

The Spanish side could cancel that debt by handing over the player who may eventually replace Pippo Inzaghi at the San Siro.

"There is a lot of talk about Milan," stated Torres. "I like them as they are a great side who are used to winning.

"My former teammate Demetrio Albertini has also told me that there is a great atmosphere within the club.

"Yet I’m just used to focusing on one season at a time. I know that I will be at Atletico next season, then we’ll see what happens."

I like the fact that Atletico owes Milan a lot of money. That means we are in no hurry to snatch up Torres. Let him play and develop in Spain, and should he develop into the superstar some of you guys think he will, then we can buy him. Atletico owes us and they know it.

The Rossoneri have renewed their long-standing transfer rapport with Ajax in
a bid to bring in young talent Wesley Sneijder.


The attacking midfielder impressed during their meeting for the Champions’ League Group phase earlier this season and could be their third reinforcement after the arrival of Jaap Stam and Vikash Dhorasoo.


It’s reported that Milan’s transfer guru Ariedo Braida is already in Amsterdam to discuss terms with the Dutch giants.


They would be willing to release Sneijder for a figure approaching £6.5m, although that could be further reduced by the inclusion of a player in part-exchange.


Sneijder turned 20 years of age last week and is currently taking part in Euro 2004 with the Dutch squad. He would be particularly valuable for Coach Carlo Ancelotti at the San Siro, as he is two-footed and can play on either side of midfield.


Would be a great addition and would continue to liven up our midfield. Lets hope this one is more fact than fiction

When we finally will get Torres??? I want to see him in Milan now!!!!!!!!!!! I hope we can get him earlier than Juve and MU!! We are waiting you Torres!!

Nach seinen glänzenden Auftritten bei der Europameisterschaft, zwei tollen Jahren bei AS Rom (60 Spiele, 22 Tore) steht der 21-Jährige bei Manchester United und dem Liga-Konkurrenten AC Milan auf dem Einkaufszettel. Der AS Rom – in finanziellen Nöten – wird nach Walter Samuel (zu Real Madrid) und Jonathan Zebina (zu Juventus Turin) damit den dritten Spieler abgeben.

Fraglich ob Superstar Francesco Totti, der vehement und mit Nachdruck Verstärkungen für die Mannschaft gefordert hatte, so gehalten werden kann.

the article says that cassano will probably leave roma as he is not willing to sign a new contract (old one expires in 2006) and that milan and manU are very interested (whos not??). well that is old nws so far but the article suggests that he will leave this summer. i only bring this because cassano has already quite often been linked with milan and i don't think he wil go to play in EPL as he wouldn't fit there as a player (i think) and the old geezer ferguson is definitely the wrong coach for him.

well i don't know how sure torres is in milan next season but i don't think we will buy both (or will we? whats your opinion). who would fit better with milan? cassano could play as a substitute for inzaghi or kaka and torres instead of andreij or inzaghi.

i think we should wait one more year befor bringing such high profile strikers as ours are really good (if inzaghi finds his form again). if we buy cassano this year we should sell either rui costa (fiorentina??) or inzaghi in order to give him enough playing time. torres is quite impossible this year i guess.

what's your opinion on this?

My opinion?? I think we can get Torres!! But if we could get Casanno it would be cool!! We can get both them but I think it isn`t real chance.

I'd take Cassano, hands down. He is brilliant. In all honesty, I have not been overly impressed with Torres. I do, however, acknowledge that I haven't seen more than a handful of his matches and he is young and will only improve.

it will be interesting who milan will sign as 4th striker, the latest rumour is milan keep an eye on luis fabiano,cossato and... simone inzaghi!

i am wondering why milan are not that keen anymore to chevanton, is it because he doesnt have european passport? i like him, probably his only weakness is he is abit short. the rest he got skills, pace and still young.
also i read that crespo and mutu's future at chelsea are uncertain..

i really like to see sneijder plays for milan, but i am not sure if he is needed for next season. he is a rare jewel!

well until i see it on the official site then it's just a rumor to me........i read it too on a few web sites...but i don't think he is leaving.....i don't see it
