Its a while since i saw Battle Royale but one thing i didnt quite get, At the end of the film why did Takeshi come back to life and answer the phone, then die again

Kitano doesn't die and come back to life. He was shot, but he wasn't dead whilst lying on the floor. The phone rings and then after he speaks on it he dies.

btw...hope this didn't ruin the film for anyone, should have had some sort of SPOILER alert

Haha, and I fell asleep on the first one halfway through the movie lol ... It didn't impress me much. Maybe I was expecting too much from all the hype. But that was not why I fell asleep. It was in the middle of a movie marathon we had at a camp, about the third movie(second from last I think) starting around 2-3 am on the last day. I guess it just didn't have enough .

Last night I watched Champion. Its a Korean film based on the life of boxer Kim Deuk-Gu who changed the face of boxing forever in the 80s. A great film that is emotionally involving throughout. The actors and actresses were good and the music was well used. Definately recommend it.

I'm planning to watch My Wife is a Gangster now, so I'll say what I think of it later.

How come the shows you watch are always so good?

Oh yeah, talking about boxing shows, anyone here has seen Ong Bak and Beautiful Boxer, both thai shows.

I have Ong Bak (no subtitles so I can't understand it), looks like its got amazing action though (I haven't seen it yet). Never heard of Beautiful Boxer though.

I watched My Wife is a Gangster and it was hilarious, very good. Not sure how many here if anyone has heard of it, but its a Korean film (don't know if it was that big in Asia) and is about a woman who is the head (right hand woman of the leader actually) of a gang, who has to marry for personal reasons.

Haven't heard of that show... Most of the Korean shows here are horror shows which are usually crap(Ju-On 1 & 2, Sisters....The latest one is called Face and I've only heard 1 comment which is that it's not bad though the story is stupid). Will look out for it though... It might be coming out.

Ong Bak is selling here for like $4-$5 for the DVD original. I saw it on display a few months back at a shop. And it has subtitles. If you can do get 1 with the subtitles so as to fully enjoy this action masterpiece.

Beautiful Boxer is about a transvestite who has to box so he can have a sex change. The slogan of the show is "he has to fight like a man, to become a woman". It's a true accont if I'm not wrong. The fighting scenes might not be as good as Ong Bak(though they're more realistic and less choreographed) but the storyline is there to draw you in.

I heard Ju-On was really good, oh well. I'll keep an eye out for Ong Bak, but I might just wait for a UK release.

Yep, maybe Ju-On was alright. Don't bother watching Part 2 though. Worst than your average sequel... If you want horror shows, try The Eye or The Eye 2 if you haven't yet. The Eye 2 is good but still loses out to The Eye. And btw, I just saw "My Wife is A Gangster" in a rental shop near my house yesterday. I'll probably get it when I have the time(which is God knows when...)

And Battlefield Earth made it to the worst 100 films in a list I saw a year or two ago. In fact, I think I was linked from here...Funny... So I guess your taste isn't that good ...

Oh yeah, has anyone seen this French show L'Appartement. Apparently their making an American remake, titled Wicker Park... It seems interesting enough for me to want to catch it. I hope it comes out here. I'm also looking out for Wimbledon.

I didnt think it was possible to spend so much money to make so bad a film

Well, I sort of stopped watching Battlefield Earth after about 10 mins. I saw up to when some idiot humans (they act like cavemen) are walking through some city in search of a God or something. My brother was the one who actually bothered to watch more and thats why I posted about it here.

I have The Eye. I really liked the film. I don't know much about Eye 2, but I hear its not that bad.

I also saw The Score lately (De Niro and Ed Norton). Good film, but I don't think its anything too memorable.

I'll probably be watching Alive soon. Its another Ryuhei Kitamaru (Versus and Azumi, japanese films) film so it will probably have good action.

Another film I plan to see soon is the Big Blue. Its got Jean Reno and apparently there are two versions of it (short and long). The long version (which I have) is meant to be a classic and an all time great.

I just saw Never Die Alone yesterday. It's based on a Donald Goines novel of the same name. Goines was a popular black pulp fiction writer of the 70s who wrote about the balck underworld during his short, crime-strewn life. Read more about him here:

The show wasn't bad. It's touches one deep in the heart and gives you an in-your-face uptake on the black gangster world in America. It's rather forgettable though. People who like stuff like the crack game, the hos, the killings, will like this and can relate to this.

I watched nearly all of it right up to the point where the hero did one of the most cliched and annoying things in film. That familiar scene where about 20 bad guys all fire their guns while the hero is running (in slow motioin of course ), all the bullets hit the floor around his feet

It makes no sense, if you aim at someones back how do you hit the floor? They must have all been graduates of the Stevie Wonder weapons training academy.....Anyway, after seeing that i just gave up
