He has the potential to become a great defender, and under the tutelage of Maldini and Billy, he can be excellent.

Seriously I don't believe Ronaldinho will be in Milan in January at all. Why would we want someone who can't play in CL in the squad and give away 2 or more players in our squad. Just couldn't work out the reasoning here. He is great, but at least i don't think he's that important to our team, same as Rivaldo. Just leave him along - don't think he's going to anywhere but Barca

Against a world class central midfield he wouldn't have stood a chance. So that is what we need.

But such players can be shut down if they play against a pure world class central midfield (world class = Nedved, Emerson, Maniche, Baraja, Stankovic, ....).
Ronaldinho is NOT what we need.

Ronaldinho would still make room and space for himself and others against the people you mention. The point is he doesn't have to beat 3 people to be a success, he's dangerous enough to have people team up on him freeing up other players. Out of all the midfielders you mention only Nedved is dangerous enough to get a couple of defenders on. The others are good passers yes, but they won't hurt you by beating 2 or 3 at a time ... which Ronaldinho has the capability of.

What happens when Rui calls it a day ? Who do we get then ? Kaka can't do it all by himself and if he gets injured who plays behind the strikers ? Obviously you don't rate Seedorf to do that job otherwise you wouldn't want the world class midfielders you suggest.

So i think Ronaldinho IS what we need, or at least a part of the puzzle.

kakà showed what he's able to do, so everyone here knows he's a true great, and he isn't in discussion..he's played badly some matches, but who doesn't?
