Here at MM I got an email (looks authentic to me) from a BBC journalist wanting to talk to a UK based Milan fan about the draw...anybody interested?

another talent to add to his list strangely though, i said this would happen in pre-season, it just seemed..obvious somehow?

Quick vote: which people posting in this thread actually want Milan to win?
i have to be honest and say i want Utd to win but if Milan did then i wouldnt be too unhappy, its better than being knocked out by Porto like last
year

Barca may be all the bollocks right now, but I don't think they'll make it past Mourinho's dire Chelsea.
Chelsea have a better balance to their side, if they played 10 times i'd back Chelsea to win 6. Barca have the "moment of magic" factor which could get them past anyside though, that tie is going to be close

I think Milan matchup very well in pretty much every position against ManU, just have to watch out the against the wide play of Ronaldo.
Utd are used to playing 5 across midfield so to play a side that isnt aiming to draw 0 - 0 will be a welcome change

This game could hinge on Rooney and Kaka. positionally Rooney is very awkward to stop unless you commit a player solely to the task. Pirlo isnt really the type who could/should do it so Gattuso may have to, which will leave gaps elsewhere....likewise Utd dont really have a player who can stop Kaka now, Keane hasnt got the legs to do that sort of work anymore, which could lead to Phil Neville doing another of his hatchet jobs

I think Milan will edge it though, home advantage in the 2nd leg will make a big difference if they manage to keep Utd out at Old Trafford.

no way, im watching this on TV, if its gets too bad at least i can turn it off

I dont think there'll be much of a massacre though, even in that pre season friendly it was 1 - 1, and that Utd side had Bardsley, Eagles and Richardson etc in it

On attack, Cesc would be better than Gilberto any day, taking into account only their skills. But Gilberto's football experience and more importantly his experience on Arsenal are more valuable to the team. I can assure you Arsenal's problem is not on attack. They DID go through a patch, and while it is tough for them to attack against teams that defend deep, Arsenal's offense is by FAR the best in the league, if I'm not mistaken they have at least 10 more goals than their nearest rivals. The fact of the matter is that Gilberto and Vieira were having a GREAT understanding, and they were just plugging the middle of the midfield, rarely did the opponent attack them comfortably through the middle. Nonetheless, this affected the entire team when they played defence.

Arsenal's problem is CLEARLY on defense, there's no question about that. That's why we need Gilberto, we can sacrifise Cesc's offense for Gilberto's defense.

AND YAY!!!! WHAT A PREDICTION NATASA!!! MILAN - MANU!!!!!! YOU GUYS ARE SO DEAD!!!!!

If we do indeed get Stam back, you're CL season is over in February; I would put 50 US dollars on it.

of all Vieira's potential partners i actually thought Edu was the best, but it seems he will be leaving in a few weeks unless they sort his contract out.

did you read about Wenger targetting Ledley King? he is a very good centre back (Englands 5th best IMO) but the price quoted is £20m Maybe the plan would be to shift Toure to play alongside Vieira, i think he was a midfielder originally so it wouldnt be to hard to change back.

True. Edu DID pimp up the midfield. I mean Pump... naaaa, actually I mean PIMP. Or better yet, PIUMP (little inside joke here )!!!!

Yeah, I haven't seen him play much. But I'd prefer the 5th best centre-back of almost any other country (for personal biased reasons if ya really want to know)

no no no lol. I'm not biased against England or anything. I'm kinda biased againt british football in particular. As a kid I didn't used to watch much European football, but for some reason I just hated the british football. There was something about the british football that would turn my guts, I don't know what exactly. Anyways, I've almost rehabilitated from that problem, except it's kinda hard for me to accept that an English player is good unless I actually watch them. ie, Scholsey. I used to hate his guts for some reason, until I realized how great of a player he is for Man U. Now I guess I could say that I uhhhh......I uh...... KINDA.... like him....... *gulp*. Anyways, England defenders are still at a lower level than italy defenders, at least in my book.

Plus, I think your 'accent' is kinda charming.

Yeah but most of those goals came before the massacre at Old Trafford. Three, Four, Five in each match before that, even while their defence was leaking at least a goal per game. Then they dried up and even the odd goal scored by the opposition which didn't seem like a big deal before became a threat in every match.

Yes, they did not have a Plan B, that is, what to do when teams defend deep. They were scoring for fun with all those long balls and crosses along the ground on the counter attack.

For people who don't remember, United abandoned that style of play back in 1995 because they wanted to crack Europe (where most teams defend deep).

Players always running??

Always trying to score rather than kill games off with possession football (none of that catenaccio stuff)??

Crunching tackles that were hard but never malicious??

The identification of a stadium, a manager and club colours distinctly with the club (which is not really seen in European football as managers and clubs dump each other with alarming regularity and teams share stadia)??

And pre-1995, players' refusal to take dives to gain an advantage???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can understand you not watching English football because the team you support isn't from England.

But hating British football without any particular reason?
