Milan Bologna Pre Game Comments

Its important that we get our scudetto charge back on track at the weekend, it should be 3 points for us, hopefully pippo will make his serie A comeback and score under the curva sud. Juve away to Atlanta at the weekend and are unlikely to slip up so really is a must win game.

Match preview from www.channel4.com

Serie A Week 21 - 30/1/05 (15.00)
Milan - Bologna

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan return to the San Siro to take on Bologna, still reeling from that defeat away to Livorno last Sunday.

Back in Week 2, the Rossoneri managed a 2-0 win at the Dall’Ara thanks to strikes from Andriy Shevchenko and Kaka. Carlo Ancelotti needs to get his side back on track and only three points will do to give Milan any chance of keeping pace with Juventus at this stage.

Dario Simic is out for another month, while Serginho and Kakha Kaladze are still sidelined with their long-term problems. Alessandro Nesta was sent off in their last outing and is suspended, so Giuseppe Pancaro should return to the defence. Pippo Inzaghi could feature after he returned to training following ankle surgery.

Bologna have been dogged by patchy form this season which has seen them slip into the lower half of the table, although they did snatch a precious win last week against Cagliari. Carlo Mazzone has a whole host of injury problems with Fabio Petruzzi, Mourad Meghni, Giacomo Cipriani, Nicola Legrottaglie, Carlo Nervo and Igli Tare all sidelined. In this state of emergency, Carletto will have to use a bit of imagination to pick his starting XI.

Milan (probable): Dida, Cafu, Stam, Maldini, Pancaro, Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka, Crespo, Shevchenko

Bologna (probable): Pagliuca, Juarez, Gamberini, Torrisi, Sussi, Zagorakis, Colucci, Giunti, Amoroso, Locatelli, Bellucci

Ref: To follow...

This is yet another must win for us, and Carlo and the boys will be hopefully more intent and focused, worse being at home...

Bologna´s team looks weakened, and as such, we should win this comfortably.

Milan 3, Bologna 0

A win is the only option this weekend really. It needs to be convincing too. We need to also hope that Juve draw away to Atalanta. Hopefully without Emerson, Blasi, Nedved and Zambrotta they will struggle to get a goal.

Nesta is banned for this match though. I am more weighted towards:

Cafu - Stam - Maldini - Pancaro

for the defence. What I heard about Kaladze yesterday and from what I have seen to date I am far from convinced about him.

To be honest,i`d rather play Billy (cafu-billy-paolo-pancaro)instead of Stam(i don`t know why,but he didn`t seem too convincing to me against Livorno, but then again it`s just my opinion)

We have to catch up with Juve again,i`m sure Carlo knows that.Looking forward to the match...FORZA MILAN!
It`s kind of encouraging(at least pscyhologically) to know that Pippo is back!

I agree with you ariel....Stam seems to be a little rusty, and should play some "reserve" matches, or come on at a point in the game, rather than start at this point...it was his unnecessary tackle that created the set piece from which Livorno scored, and IMO, he should be brought on to spell Billy.

I understand what people are saying about Stam. I can imagine he will be rusty for another 2-3 weeks to come. But the only way that will change is if he plays matches. He will get better and better, more comfortable each match he plays. We have to just lump it for the time being. We should beat a Bologna team who have many injuries at the moment. Hope fully when I sign on monday morning we will be saying 'we are only 2/3 points behind Juve again'

Interesting comments about Stam here.

I think he should definately play this match considering Sandro is out, but as has been said (originally by Dragana), he is clearly lacking match sharpness.

PirloDaBest, you also make a decent point about Stam needing some time to return to fitness.

The two sides of the argument are both valid, but personally for this match, I'd give Stam the opportunity and then when Sandro is back, I'd consider to play him less frequently if it seems as though he's not improving.

As for the side, I'd pretty much play our strongest 11 and I expect nothing less than a win

FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really think Vikash is starting instead of Clarence, and i hope that will be the case. Clarence seems to be man for big macthes, he certanly seems not motivated playing against smaller opposition.
Vikash on the other hand has surprised many and hes yet to make a poor match.
Even Rino would be on the bench if i was coach and insted would Brocchi play who can at least pass the ball little bit better and fights almost as hard as Rino. This is not likely to happen thou, but do we really need someone like Rino when we playing at home against a compact Bologna. Maybe im wrong but thats just my oppinion.

But Vikash has to start and i think he was even rested against Udinese so im pretty much convinced that he will do so.

Forza Milan!
