happy birthday for yesterday Rae

i did visit the forums but didnt have enough time to post properly...

My turn today and im feeling almost as annoyed as you did i cant believe that after all the strong words about how we have to finish second we sent out such a weak and imbalanced team

Not only that but then i found out Milan had only drew, i checked the score at half time and saw Rui had scored but it seems both sides made the same mistake of not giving enough respect to weaker sides at least Juve dropped points as well

the only brightside is that my horse (who was the favourite but still 10 - 1 ) won the Grand National

You guys didn't watch Essein make your team look like $hit? You guys should ALL know how good he is.
he hardly made us look $hit , Lyon only managed a home draw and a loss against us. Individually he did play well though, its not so much as a Keane replacement that we need him but more that we just need a young, energetic midfielder with enough quality to make it at the top level.

Scholes and Keane are still our central pair and age is catchin up with them, if its to be a smooth transition then we need a midfielder to come in now and play with them for a while, and then another midfielder in maybe 2 years.

Happy birthday Stez, mate... or as happy as you can feel...

After yesterdays matches I felt I do not belong to this Earth... I couldnt find my place anywhere... only sometime later I switched on TV and watched second half of Strasbourg - Olympique [M] live... match was quite interesting... as you know I can't stand Marlselle since '93 so I was on Strasbourg side... they were doing quite well, though could not strike a goal... but eventually their efforts where rewarded... Niang scored when it was left only 10 seconds in the stoppage time... lucky bastards This made me wake up from lethargy...

thanks mate

I did the same sort of thing and focussed on other teams instead, I've put an accumulator on Villa-Albion to draw and Celtic, Spurs and Real to win. As i type Spurs just scored which is helpful not too confident about Real winning but i thought i'd just back them as a show of support for poor Michael Owen....

Im no great fan of Real either, but i support them when i've got money on them to win

Beckham was outstanding for them yesterday, with all the talent on that pitch he was man of the match and Owen scored his 11th goal in 13 starts, which is a good thing for England

not a lot, the focus seems to be on a new keeper as we will definately have to buy in that area. Robinson seems the one being linked most often though apparently Barca want him too.

Saha and Kleberson may be the ones sold to help fund a new midfielder....

Hmm.. dunno yet about the transfer, I think Sir Alex would look for new goalkeeper as our current 2 goalkeepers haven't show good performances. They both consistanly inconsistant.
The other player is Keano's replacement. We do need him immediately!!

p.s. Happy Birthday, Steza...

thanks argo

we have little choice but to buy a keeper as Carroll and Ricardo are both leaving in the summer so we'll only have Howard and young Steele left

As for the Keane replacement, Essien has pretty much invited us to bid for him and i cant see him staying at Lyon beyond this season. If we dont move this summer then we will miss out. Im not sure who else is a real possibility?

yeah, they've been saying similar things since we bought Rooney. It can be a smokescreen as every club knows Utd have money and tend to overcharge us for players (Leeds had agreed £3m for Kleberson and then we had to pay £7m )

If the board announced we were going to spend big money then any team we aproached would know we were prepared to spend a lot and no doubt add a few million to the price. This way, at least the clubs we approach will be a bit more reluctant to try and rip us off

I reckon we'll spend approx. £5m on a keeper and maybe £10 - £12 on a midfielder if the right one become available.

RUUD ON HIS WAY? - AGAIN!

Tony Cascarino uses his column in The Times to heap controversy onto the weekends misery.

'Remember that debate about who is the better striker, Thierry Henry or Ruud van Nistelrooy? It’s not much of a question any more, is it? I’ve seen Van Nistelrooy play three times since he’s come back from injury and he reminds me of Michael Owen at the end of his Liverpool career. There’s uncertainty about the future there, some disillusionment perhaps.

I think Manchester United will sell him in the summer. As he proved by removing Jaap Stam and David Beckham, Sir Alex Ferguson is not afraid to make dramatic decisions. He’ll ask himself: have I seen the best of Van Nistelrooy in a United shirt? The answer, unthinkable 18 months ago, is more than likely. And Ferguson needs money to strengthen other areas.

Van Nistelrooy’s body language is wrong. He seems like a man wondering if the grass is greener somewhere else. Cleverly, Ferguson has taken the heat off his player by saying that perhaps it’s his own fault for bringing him back too soon after injury. He’s shielding his player from criticism. But even an unfit Van Nistelrooy should be performing better than he is. I don’t give any credit to the notion that injured players need plenty of time to return to their peak. When you return, you should be so desperate to play that your extra motivation should compensate for any lack of fitness or sharpness.'

Issue: Red Issue
If Fergie do that, I have no doubts that after one season he will be sacked ...

That bastard must have been waiting for his moment to write that ever since Ruud arrived at the club. They do the same with Fergie every couple of seasons. Just the ramblings of a desperate ABU.

This sort of idea solves a lot of problems for the press.

As it stands Utd have said they wont spend big this summer which upsets the tabloids because they actually have to do some work, instead of just putting the name of a big player and a price tag together and saying Utd will buy them.....

By saying Utd are selling Ruud not only do they get a big story but they also get to spend the money he would bring in, for example "Utd will sell Ruud for £25m and spend that money on Ronaldinho.......

This way they can have months of stories and then at the end of August just make a new one up saying Fergie has now decided to keep Ruud afterall

Incidentally, this isnt the first time i'd heard about us selling Ruud but i've yet to see anyone come up with a logical reason. Sure we dont score as many goals as in past seasons but thats because of lack of midfield support. Ruud may not have scored since he came back but how can he without decent supply

True. The midfield really needs a solid kick up the backside. They are playing like they don't really care if they win or not! And poor Ruud and Smithy are shouldering all the blame for those performances. I hope Fergie lets the boots fly.

exactly.. seems like they don't want to continue this season...
next season we have to change! and Fergie's boot-kick will do that!

Apparently he called a team meeting and let fly

Keano has been in the media again too, saying some players arent giving 100% usually when Keane says something it means Fergie is saying it through him. I still feel we are only 2 players away from a great squad but its becoming more and more important that we get the right 2 and stop the rot
