It is very quaint to me... we can not score... we can score.... we can't ... we can... wtf is to our team...

Great to see Smithy scored again, maybe he regained his self confidence evetually

the 2 games were we have scored lots recently (Newcastle and Charlton) circumstances were in our favour. Newcastle were stupid enough to face us with only 4 in midfield instead of doing what everyone else does now and put 5 across the middle to swamp our creative players

As for Charlton, they are always terrible this time of the year they are safe from relegation and not good enough for Europe so they have nothing left to play for

This season has been our worst goal-scoring tally in Premier League era.. tho we have 4 excellent strikers and many offensive midfielders.

next must be better!!! MUST BE!!!!

iregk is an unknown quantity at this point
I think part of the problem is that too much is expected of Rooney who someone correctly said before has the in experience of youth.
Smith is one of the poorest finishers in english football as is saha.

Van Nist looks to me like he is just waiting to leave. So united need new strikers...

Yeah we do. We're getting Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid. And Adriano from Inter, Ibrahimovic from Juve and Shevchenko from Milan. It will be financed by Tony Blair after he becomes Prime Minister of England and we sell the club to the country as national property. The waste of space junk we have for strikers will all be shipped out.

The problem isnt really the strikers as such, its that we dont get enough people ahead of the ball now because of the tactics we play.

With the exception of Ruud none of the other players we have are poachers. Rooney likes to run from deep often starting 40+ yards from goal, Smith plays with his back to goal fighting defenders and linking play and as for Saha its been so long since i saw him play regularly i've forgotten what he looks like

In Giggs, Ronaldo and Scholes we have supply but often we have 1 target in the box and 5 or 6 defenders waiting to deal with it. If we could go back to 4-4-2 and play Rooney as a genuine striker rather than in supporting roles then we would be fine, but to do so requires a central midfield to cope with the defensive burden whilst still supporting the attack, something Keane and Scholes often cant do anymore

We need one thing - quit with Saha and regain Forlan. It is about strikers.

Next thing we need is Giggsy and Keano replacement. I suggest Steward Downing and Jeremaine Jenas.

By the way guys, have you heard the talks about Ballack and de Jong?

I dont think Forlan can handle the English game, particularly at a big club. Any team Utd face defend deep and in numbers and Forlan isnt confident enough or strong enough to break through. He gets a little bit more time and space in Spain and i think he enjoys it there. Plus its sunny, unlike Manchester

Downing has extended his Boro contract
I wont criticise him because that is his hometown club and he has always supported them its good to see loyalty in the game still. Boro have quite a few good youngsters and if they keep them all together they could make a decent team though they will never attract many big name foreigners as anyone who has ever seen the grimy, industrial bleakness that is Middlesborough will tell you

As for Jenas, he has talent but not yet consistency. Another season at Newcastle would probably be best for him.

Yeah, im not sure about the Ballack story but it would be great if true De Jong seems more likely as his contract runs out in a year so he wont cost us much. It seems Chelsea plan to steal Essien for £18m but only of they cant get Gerrard

There are also a lot of rumours about Ronaldo leaving for Madrid to be honest it sounds possible as he is very much a "galactico" type player and the climate would be far more to his liking. While i'd prefer he stayed i wouldnt be massively annoyed if he did leave as it would bring in a lot of money and we can still build the new team around Rooney

Well, it may sound a bit silly but still do believe in Forlan and his future in England. Even though it looks so unlikely . Anyway he remains one of my beloved players

That's bad. IMO Downing will improve so much in following years that he will be chased as Gerrard is now. And if we want to sign him later he will cost us almost the same amount of money we paid for Roon. I bet we have made a mistake not offering him a opportunity to enter our team .

I have not seen him much, but he did quite a good impression to me. Nevertheless I do agree with you - he has to get more mature and magpies is perfect place for that .

De Jong is quite good option even though we still have Keano and some other players in that place such as Fletch or O'Shea. Btw, Ballack has also extended his contract with Bayern.

This part do not fits the thread title . If R9 leave real [which is unlikey IMO] los galacticos are really interested in Gila. And it makes me worry about his future in Milan . Usually we do not afford such amouts of money like real do.

By the way, it seems that Ole is back
Quote:
Ole targeting August return

Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to hit the ground running for Manchester United next season.
Two major knee operations have decimated his current campaign in which he is yet to don the famous Red Devils shirt.
Solskjaer's last appearance for the club was last year's FA Cup final and he is now hoping to return for the start of next term.
The Norwegian hit-man is just taking each step at a time and not doing anything that could set him back on his road to recovery.
"I'm looking forward to putting the shirt on again because I know you can't take these things for granted and I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel," said Solskjaer to Sky Sports News.
"I know if I don't do anything daft now until August I think I'll be back. That's too far away [thinking about playing for United]. I'm just making sure I do each step properly.
"I can't kid you and say I haven't been down a couple of times, but that's absolutely nothing compared to other players - what they've been through.
"I'm looking forward, that's the main thing."
Despite, planning on returning to Norway in the summer of 2006, Solskjaer's injury has forced a rethink and now he is looking to remain at Old Trafford for as long as possible.
"Knee permitting, I'll play as long as Teddy Sheringham is playing, you never know," he added.
"You play here as long as possible, as long as your fitness and performances allow."

yeah, he might have come back if it was a loan but we sold him fully to Villareal and if we asked for him back they would probably want to charge us a lot for him

Its even worse than that, we could have signed him for free last year

sorry i meant our Ronaldo, i should have put Cristiano in to avoid confusion

The story is that Cristiano Ronaldo may move to Real its probably just an attempt to get a better contract at Utd by raising the possibility of moving elsewhere but as he's Portuguese he may like a move to Spain as its Climate is better suited and he would be a lot nearer to his home and family. We'll have to wait and see what happens....

Excellent news

He will always be a legend for Utd, not only for winning the Champions League in the last second but also for his brilliant attitude, he never complains and probably undertsands the fans as well as any player can

I think selling Cristiano Ronaldo ain't a good idea, Stez.. He's a member of our next generation along with Rooney, Smith, Fletcher and others.. with Rio as the captain.
I've heard that he's been paid underwage (± 25k pounds/week) so Utd must offer him a better contract or see him leaving.

btw, another disappointing home performance last night. 1 - 1 against West Bromwich Albion.
in the 1st half it was like a one-way traffic to WBA's goal but only 1 goal scored ("just" a direct free-kick by Giggs against an injured goalkeeper). and in the rest of the game we were frustated by WBA'a defence, mostly by that Polish substitute goalkeeper. even worse we conceeded penalty and Earnshaw converted that chance to pull levelled.. 1-1. He's the first WBA's player ever scored in Old Trafford in the last 24 years..

Well.. boys.. get prepared for The FA Cup Final.. and UCL Qualifiers.

its not that i want to see him go, its just that if he did leave i'd understand why. I agree though, its most likely just a plan to get a better contract, he's on even less than you think (17k) and wants to be put up to established first team wages of 50-60k which is only fair as thats what Rooney gets and he's been here a year less

the result was predictable as soon as the teamsheet came out i dont know why we keep resting so many players at once when it always backfires, last time we did it we lost to Norwich there are only 3 games left this year and while i understand Keane needs to be rested because of his dodgy hip, Scholes could have been played, and as for Fletcher and Rooney they are surely capable of playing 1 game a week

Albion gambled with 3 strikers from the start and if we'd have had our full team out today im sure we'd have put 4 or 5 past them

lost to damn Chelsea at home

3 - 1 is an unfair scoreline though, before their fluke equaliser (he couldnt do that again if you gave him a thousand attempts ) we were in control and even after it they were happy with a draw. The game changed with Ronaldo's foul not being given, it wasnt a penality but it was certainly a free kick and while our players argued with the ref they ran up the other end of the pitch and scored.........As for Joe Coles goal, what more can i add to Andy Grays description: "the ball was passed forward and he was standing ahead of the defence making it double offside !"

We had zero luck today, if only Fletchers great shot was a few inches lower

Also, i think its about time we stopped playing our £27m striker on the wing how many other sides play their biggest threat away from his ideal position?!
