That could be said about every player not just Riqueleme. And if you saw his play this past season, he was anything but inconsistent. Obviously he had some superb games, and others not so good.

I agree with Maradona10 on G Milito, he is one of the young and very, very solid defenders, who could be an option for Milan when they start rejuvenating their defence. Milito was easily one of the 2-3 best defenders, in my opinion the best, in La Liga this season and made the Real M medical team look like a bunch of jackasses for it was them who stopped his transfer from Independiente to Real. After that he signed with Zaragoza, and became one of the revelations of the season in Spain. Ironically, in the direct game, not sure if it was on Bernabeu, Milito singlehandedly made Raul, Ronnie and co disappear from the field and Zaragoza won 1-0, I think, but could be wrong about the final result.
One problem I think Milito could have is the arial battles - he is not very high, and although he compensates this with good jumping abilities, this could be a problem for him against physically stronger oponents. One thing's for sure, I wouldn't exactly recommend him to an EPL team

And Milito is also a leader on the pitch, not just another defender. In that position you have to be vocal, and Milito knows how to control his team from behind. Sooner or later he will join one of the big clubs, I hope it is Milan.

So Vickery is in South America? Milito has long left Argentina. And again, I have more trust on Brindisi, Bielsa, Pekerman, Gallego than Tim Vickery. I have more trust on a coach than a journalist. I have more trust on a guy that coached Milito than a guy that watched Milito a couple of times on TV.

And what has the national team to do with Milito as a player? Is a coach that picks 20-25 players to represent one nation at a given moment.

This being said, It looks like Tim Vickery didnt report that Milito was one of the best players in the game that Argentina played against Ecuador last saturday. Pekerman made 2 teams, one to play against Ecuador on saturday and one to play against Brazil last wednesday. If Milito wasnt the man of the match against Ecuador, from the argentinean side, its more than close. He came close to starting against Brazil, but Pekerman went with a different scheme.

Well, he has done a lot so far in his young carrer, including titles with Argentina (U-x), Independiente and a transfer to Real Madrid that wasnt completed because he was "Milito" and not "Beckham".

But really, nothing against you Matnat, but its the first time I read about this Vickery guy and I wasnt impressed from what I read.

i watched the game then read his article and i thought it was quite good.

hes written loads on south american football, you should have a look at the selection of other posts on that page on the right hand side, he talks about evreything and anything to do with south american football, his knowledge is unbelievable..

For example, saying that Riquelme dissapeared after the 30 minute mark when Renato came in is ridiculous. Roman didnt even play the second half, he was non existent. Not just after that 30 minute mark, and not because Renato replaced Robinho.

And again, is he in South America 24x7?

yeah hes based in south america.

so why did brazil dominate the last 30 mins then?
i thought it was because they brought on another holding midfielder as ze roberto is useless in helping emerson provide cover for the defence.

i thought renato helped emerson in providing a platform for brazils attacks as well as a shield for there back four.

Brazil dominated the entire second half, they were even better when Renato came in. But Riquelme was non existent in the second half. Before and After Renato came in.

So if he is based in South America his opinion about Milito isnt the best you can get, even if he has certain knowledge.

Looks like Samuel will sign with Inter (Loan). Damn, why cant we get him on loan? And they are getting Solari, too. Both fine players. I dont know how Santiago's game translates to Calcio, but he is indeed talented and a way better player than Kily Gonzalez.
