I just got off the phone with them and now I'm off to write them a nasty email... pressurise them!!! They can't give us lousy excuses like these and expect us to wait until NEXT season to watch Serie A on TV again!!!

In the meantime, anyone know of any good streaming type things where we can get our games?

good on ya for the ascoli milan game i subscribed to Milan channel just so as to listen to the 'live' commentary. guess I'll have to do the same for the Siena match. I presume Juve's site has something similar? If not, sorry, you should become a milanista like the majority of us

Desperation times call for desperation moves. Here's the letter I wrote to Pasta Fresca da Salvatore in a personal appeal to sponsor the return of Serie A! Don't know if that'll work but no harm trying..............

Attached a reply in the Straits Times Interactive Forum from the Manager of the Corporate Communications at Starhub Ltd of 9 September 2005 citing reasons for their inability to broadcast 'live' matches of the Italian Serie A for the 2005-2006 season.

As one of many keen Italian soccer followers here in Singapore, the undersigned is utterly dismayed at Starhub's decision. Italian Serie A followers have been grateful to Pasta Fresca da Salvatore over the past few years in their continual generous sponsorship of 'live' broadcasts. The undersigned wishes to lodge a personal appeal to you to re-consider once again offering your sponsorship to bring back these 'live' matches to all Serie A followers.

Starhub is ridiculous man. Probably if you take the cost of rights to broadcast all those obscure matches and put them together you'll get about enough for Serie A rights - together with a much higher viewership. -_-"

Keep calling Starhub !!Different numbers...I'll bug them the whole year!!Just give me back my Serie A!!! We've been watching for more than a decade..why problem like this arises now?? They claim that they want to avoid higher pricing for Sports programme!! Then put Serie A in a different channel like the bloody French league channel!! They can rake in more money...can't understand why they aren't doing it!! I'm giving them a month....am cancelling my sports channel if nothing happen!!

Anyway, if anyone wondered why I disappeared I'll cut a long story short and say it's been a roller coaster ride in terms of my enthusiasm and involvement in calcio. Sad that it takes something like this to start me off again...

If fans threaten to cancel cable because of the lack of Serie A I think starhub might lose even more than it has to pay for the rights too... I don't see how they are saving money from not broadcasting it, but whatever. I'm no genius in economics and business...

but will the Italian companies respond? Just because they're Italian might not mean they endorse Serie A...

This explanation clearly displays StarHub’s lack of understanding and interest in their customers’ needs. For example, if StarHub decides to cancel SunTV from their choice of channels, will they divert SunTV subscribers to the “wide variety” of programmes available on VV Drama? I thought not!

StarHub keeps harping about not wanting to increase subscription costs, but it’s not listening to consumers who have vociferously expressed their willingness to pay more just for the sake of Serie A coverage – be it on pay-per-view or add-on channel options. StarHub seems concerned about the potential displeasure over these alternatives, yet are they aware of the many Serie A fans who silently paid for the increase in sports channel subscriptions for the past year only for the sake of Serie A coverage?

Now that this isn’t the case, am I expected to pay for sports channels with programmes I have no interest in just to wait for StarHub to resolve their problems NEXT season?

How is it that I’m actually paying more, yet receiving less football coverage in Singapore than fans in Indonesia and Malaysia who enjoy full coverage of the EPL, La Liga, and Serie A on Indosiar and Astro Super Sports respectively? How are the programming costs affordable for them, but not Singapore? Does it have something to do with the pressure provided by competitor cable operators in these countries, and not the monopoly we have here?

On its website, StarHub describes itself as a company “driven by a passion for listening and providing what customers want”. Well, we fans all want the Serie A this season. Are you listening, StarHub?
