We need to rebuild the old Milan

Well guys I'm back, and to celebrate this event I'm opening this thread... as a "welcome back" party if u wish.

Milan currently facing the end of an era, an age or how ever u may call it. I see here people opening little threads like "cafu is out?" or "seedorf shouldn't be in first team" and i'm just amazed that people don't see the whole picture!!! It's much more complicated and I want to present to u the full picture:

Players Out:

Maldini:Great player, dedicated himself to Milan for twenty years and we may say one of the greatest ever who played for us, a living legend..... ok MOVE ON!!! He cannot play at this level anymore, he is hurting the team... so please man RETIRE already!!! Same about Costacurta.... I mean comon u are 40 years old, go get urself some real job.

Cafu: Same thing, too old, I hope we won't see him playing next year.

Stam: Can hardly tell, some times he looks impresive but only when he plays in his role as a CD (and that's quite rare). But I'm pretty sure we shouldn't count on him next year.

Gattuso: I mean realy, people just think straight! He maybe give his all on the pitch, but it's simply isn't enough. Team in this level can't allow to have a regular player in the middle that completly lucking any creativity, shot or passing ability... I prefer to see Ballack or Van Bommel in that position. I know that Gattuso has many fans here and many people may disagree with me, but what can I say? The guy just isn't good enough.

Seedorf: I simply don't like the guy, his football is just too dark and unattractive. He and Gattuso are important to get possession over the ball, but since they don't do it quite good as they used to (for example we were weaker in the middle than our opponents when we played against Barca or Inter) and their lack of creativity and passing ability is too unforgiven, I rather see Seedorf leave.

Anceloti: People the simple fact that we should be european champions 3 years in a row, and the only guy I can blame for that not happening is the coach. And except that his late decisions are pretty weird and demanding some explanation. For example how come we don't see Jankulovsky playing? We waited few years and there were some excitement when he arrived, and what for? The guy didn't even get his chance! I mean we have this big hole in the left position and concede almost every game because of it, so try him out as a left defender what u have to lose???? Are u sick or what?? Explaine urself! And what about this stupidity playing Kaladze as a CD and Stam as RD??? I mean god is anyone here thinks it's normal?? What's the f*cking problem to play Stam in the middle and Simic in the right??? Someone please explaine it to me!
We lost two years in a row the CL tittle to a team that inferior to us, and same thing in the Scudeto. If this isn't a good reason to sack the coach I don't know what it is.

P.S. We still have great players: best striker in the world Sheva, Kaka that maybe the next Platini (don't forget that players in that role usualy hit their peak after mid 20 like Zidane or Totti), Pirlo and Nesta that are considered to be two of the best in their positions.. And I still believe in Dida. I would say that next year we should heavily reinforce our team and even rebuilted it changing the coach and atleast 4 or 5 of our starting players. In the midfield we can do it gradually but our defence is a disaster and we even don't have any replacements in sight.
I'm pretty sure that if we won't see some big changes and cush spending this summer, we may forget about any trophies in the near future.

Come on, man, wake up !

Maldini is still one of the best !! You just need to spare him from time to time... And that's quite the same about Cafu... I agree, this might be their last season, but leave them this season, they can really add something...

And what are you telling about Gattuso ?? I mean, man, every team needs such a player, with perfect mentality ! Even if his technique is not the best of the squad, the number of balls he keeps out of the danger zone, and the amount of kilometers he runs in a game are just incredible !!!

And what's your point about Ancelotti ?? Do you know many teams winning the CL 3 times in a row ??? Come on, dude ! For that you can't blame him ! He is a great coach, and his work has nothing but positive effects on this team !
Don't you realise all that he has done for this team ? If I remember well, he's the one who's launched Pirlo at his position... He used to be "not good enough" for Inter, and he used to be a attacking midfielder like many others, now he's become a World-Class player in his position !!

I'm sorry, but you're wrong about that...

Greetz,

M

Sash22, I disagree with you... and I believe you're not being respectful to Maldini and Costacurta...

Those guys have done enough to retire the day they desire to do so... they've earn it.

so what you're saying is let's keep 4-5 guys, fire everybody else, and buy what/were?

Dude, you're not thinking with your head. We're not Real Madrid, we're not Chelsea. Look back at our history... we respect players, we respect the game, we respect the fans, we respect the ball... we don't just go out with the checkbook and buy the new fancy thing...

We're an institution... something Abramovich can't buy for Chelsea... so cut the BS..

We need to get some new people, yes...

1. God no!

2. If you with "end of era" means "may need some new defenders" then you are correct.

3. To say Maldini is hurting the team ranks among the most stupid things I read here. If anything the team is hurt by him being injuried. He is likely to retire despite still being great.

4. Your wish will be granted from what I heard.

5. He doesn't look much more or less impressive in either position, he is indivualy good, but his collaboration and position sense sometimes creates problems.

6. It is enough if he gives his all, surely that have been a winning recipy. No the problem is the games he doesn't give his all, those games he is a mediocre player. He is best in the hot and hard games like against Juve where his qualities shine. There is not many players like him around. so when we lose against the top teams of this world people will ask where he is...

7. "Dark and unattractive"??? and comparing him to Gattuso, now I at least know for sure that you can't have watched us play or even watched football at all. Dear me.

8. Please! Some would think the fact we done best in the tournament out of all teams in europe the last three years would be enough...

9. He have been injuried. He is not a natural left defender.

10. He looks quite healthy to me, but he should stop smoking.

11. Lack of RB options. (or did you expect Ancelotti to come here and explain it to you?)

12. "don't know" is the keyword in your case.

i don't think that we need to rebuild the whole team that's crazy, we just need new defenders to replace Costacurta, Stam and a backup for Cafu ofcourse, and maybe a replacement for Rui if he leaves next season that's all.

This is why I quote Galliani again by saying "Maldini is a not a symbol of Milan... Maldini IS Milan"

Maldini (and Costacurta) have so much class that they wouldn't go out on the pitch if they couldn't perform... we all know they are not 25 anymore, but that doesn't matter...

they will retire when their time comes... they know it... they don't need us to tell them...

and to me, if they want to play when they are 45, they can do it... there's nothing we can give them in return for all they have given Milan as a club, and all of us as Milanistas... nothing...

Being great is also to know when u have to step away... I mean for god sake let me repeat it: we lost the CL and the Scudetto tittle two years in a row to teams that inferior than us (Depo, Liverpool and Juve) and in some games we were outplayed by our opponents (Inter, Barca and even PSV)... Our players ain't getting better and we loose our strength year after year. Another reason for sacking the coach is that two years in a row we keep suffering from crosses and set-pieces, the only guy I can blame is the coach (I mean it's a purely training thing). We need some new blood to motivate the team, and to change the "broken" parts.
Next year we will be even weaker and win nothing, if that what u want "true milanesta" so be it.

Well I can't name a team that twice had 3 goals advantage and than lost... two years in a row.
