Rijkaard to Milan, Van Basten to Barca?

I read today in Marca newspaper (Spain) that Berlusconi offered Frank Rijkaard the coaching job and a contract similar to that of Mourinho. If Rijkaard were to leave, Barca may lean towards Van Basten. Rijkaard signed a contract extension not so long ago that runs through 2009 and he wouldnt have to pay anthing if he were to leave for Milan.

I know Frank appreciates Milan, but why would he leave Barcelona to come here? And Im talking soccer, players, etc.

Opinions?

Rijkaard To Milan, Van Basten To Barça?

Barcelona would make a bid to bring Marco Van Basten to Camp Nou if Frank Rijkaard ever decided to take over as coach at Milan, according to reports in Spain.

The Catalan club have already decided who the next trainer would be if the lure of the San Siro was enough to tempt their current boss away.

Milan have been linked with an audacious bid to tempt Rijkaard away from Barça since losing the Champions League Final last season to Liverpool.

Carlo Ancelotti will need to win a trophy this season in orer to keep his job at the Italian giants, but rumours already suggest that president, Silvio Berlusconi has already decided to replace him.

One report, in Marca, suggests that Milan will offer Rijkaard a huge contract and bank on his fondness for Milan after spending the most successful period of his playing career at the club.

Van Basten would be Barcelona's favourite should the current coach leave, with presidential adviser, Johan Cruyff, recommending the current Holland trainer.

It was Cruyff that advised Joan Laporta to take a chance on Rijkaard and the Barça legend has already said that Van Basten would be an ideal replacement.

One drawback to the whole plan is that Rijkaard has recently signed an extension to his contract to keep him at Barcelona until 2009 and he feels indebted to Laporta for giving him a chance.

If Laporta was to lose the next presidential election at the club then Rijkaard would automatically stand down as he would be unwilling to work under a new supremo.

being adventurous is quite different from being successful. Mourinho isn't exactly the hallmark of adventure among coaches but he did beat Rijkaard's Barca in last year's CL, not to mention that he won the CL the year before, something Barca, despite their freeflowing and attractive style, are yet to achieve. They are a class above everyone else in the Primera but let's not forget that over the past 2-3 years regular title challangers like Real, Valencia, Depor have had it rather ROUGH and that made the whole competition a bit colorless, at least as far as intreague goes.
Personally, I see MvB as the more tactically shrude coach between the two. His team looks more ballanced in attack and defence. Apart from that there are probably even better coaches out there like Lippi and Hiddink, for instance.
This being said, I don't thing Milan's current problems will be solved by sacking Carlo i.e. I don't think he is the culprit here and we would lose a great coach sfould we let him go.

getting rijkaard would be a step backwards IMO... he was a great player for us, but i think tactically as a coach hes horrible... id rather see names like: lippi, hiddink, del neri, van basten or donadoni here instead... and i love carlo, but i think were in need of a change right now!

Rijkaard refutes claim linking him with Milan. As for right now I won't speculate as to who will succeed Ancelotti as he still has the job and I will support him untill he no longer holds the position.
