anyone else realize that it takes a complete shock (depor), a miracle (istanbul) or a contravertial call (barca) to knock us out the last 3 CL's??? ... and to think that so many people were critisizing the team for so long!

well to lose twice a 3 goals advantage is a good reason for criticism... we allowed that "shock" or "miracle", so it's our fault.
And as it goes for Merk's call... sorry I have to admit with Sash23. Merk mistake kept us in the game in first place (Costacurta-Eto'o incident), and then he disallowed that goal... so lets call it a tie. I know it is very painful but we have to think straight, and not to blame referees or whoever. Barca was the better team I think, Milan looked so tired and predictable with the ball... and Barca so fast and sharp.
And how many matches we didn't diserve to win and still won it: Inter, PSV, Lyon....
So stop blaming anyone and use excuses, or u win it or u don't, the rest is unrelevant. Lets just hope we win scudetto this year, to wash out the bitter taste with some sweetness.

Kudos to you The-Fan for speaking out. You're completely right about us looking predictable and slow with the ball and unfortunately i don't see how that will change unless new players in the starting 11 are introduced.

i never gave any excuses, im just pointing out that people should stop critisizing our team because it takes a whole lot to knock us out...

barca definatly deserve to be there, they were the more dangerous and the more critical team, but we had the better possesion of the ball... im not taking anything away from anyone... congrats to barca, im not even angry...

but lets be honest, that was a goal, while the costacurta foul is debatable, to be honest i would have lost it if he was sent off, the ball was close to dida when billy fouled etoo...

I don't get this argument about Barca's chances yesterday. So many people are arguing that Barca were far better for this reason, but thats just not true.

In the 1st leg, we outplayed Barca by far and had it not been for some poor finishing from the players, yesterday could have been a lot easier.

Yes, Barca got some great chances, but what else do you expect?? We are a good side, but Barca aren't exactly bad. They have one of the most potent attacks in the world and have creativity and pace.

Yesterday, we HAD to throw as much forward as we could, allowing Barca the perfect opportunity to really hurt us on counter, so people really should have expected them to get chances. Likewise, Barca had a cushion to protect, and so they were given the opportunity to stay compact and a little defensive, making it very difficult for us to get chance after chance as expected.

Barca created more yesterday, but we got a goal. Likewise in the first leg, we created more, but Barca got a goal. Overall, the 180 minutes were VERY even and personally I think if anyone deserved it more it was us, as when things weren't set up for Barca, we overran them like no tomorrow, whilst even when they had an advantage (1st leg after the goal), they only caused us unexpected problems for a few minutes, after which we dominated again and still created chances, despite a struggle with their possession play.

Add to this that in both matches the referee made some very poor decisions that heavily affected our style of play and really its ridiculous to argue Barca deserve to go ahead of Milan.

Barca had many chances, but so did Milan (probably more). Its possible to argue we should've taken more chances, and clearly the players and coach know this, but in the end we still scored a valid goal that should have counted and had it been done so then we probably wouldn't be complaining so much about missed chances.

Also, GavinMilan, I don't think that if Sheva's goal had counted Ancelotti would have become more defensive, that'd be suicidal at that point. The tie would have turned in our favour and really the side would have had the momentum with them, whilst Barca probably would have been getting nervous. Plus Ancelotti had a very attacking side fielded at that point, so why suddenly defend with a prolific attacking side thats currently just had a major boost. Maybe we'd have tightened up to prevent Barca having an open game to play, but I think we'd very much have continued attacking.

I don't think anyone can criticise Milan in this semi-final and to do so is very unfair to the efforts the players and coach made, when in the end, it does boil down to a refereeing error deciding the tie.

Barca have my respect as they played to semi-final with a professional attitude that symbolises Rijkaard attitude to managing. They earnt a place in the final, due to the fact that they did what they had to.

Now its over and we try again next season. Until then we look to pip Juve to the Serie A title!

We are out,its over. now what do we need to do to win it all next season?? that is teh right question......WE NEED TO BE FASTER! if pirlo cant play anymore, let him go. CAfu cant sprint, stam is leaving. We need 2 new players in starting lineup, Gallas and Diarra. Everything else is ok.

Gallas and diarra wud be enough. Milan thrives on team spirit ( on and off the field) hence, we have to make sure that whoever we sign, merges into the team and becomes a part of the family. Also, i think it wud be a good idea if we get another 2 players on loan so that when our top players like kaka and sheva return from the wc, dont feel over worked. i hope galliani sanctions some big money around 30 mn pounds for the 2 players.

diarra, gallas and oddo is enough (unless rui leaves maybe maresca?)

If we led 1 goal to draw 1-1 on aggregate and playing away game, Milan should attack try to get the second goal. Reason is very simple:

1/ We would have the momentum, the spirit...

2/ For the same possibility (score vs concede) we would be looking for 1 away goal and may risk a home goal. So if it turned out 2-1 for us, 2-2 on Agg it would be us going thru.
