Lucas Neill?

AC Milan have joined the race to sign Blackburn defender Lucas Neill. (Daily Star Sunday)

milan was interested for neil .. long ago
but im not a big fan of this transfer .. he is very aggresive in field and could bring problems in our team i think he is going to leave blackburn this year but coming to milan dosn;t sounds to me right !! he can go to real i think they are intersted in him too

I think we need some player like Miguel.

i think we should wait and see what happens with Gallas first, we could do with a left back and right back this summer...

As much as I'd love to see another Aussie wearing the red and black shirt, I must agree with opinions here that there are better options around. Although Lucas Neil has had a superb world cup, i dont think he possesses enough experience (and probably class) to fare in Milan's central defense. Having said that, I'd welcome Lucas to the san siro ...

get over it! with a lucas neill thread is in the transfers section...it doesnt take a genius to work out what itll be about...so use your head, than you wont have to browse through these 'stupid threads' you post in

For the record, I dont think this is a stupid thread. After all, we are in the market for a new right back, rumours of Milan being after Lucas Neill have been around for the last couple of years, and Neill has had a great world cup and now has many top teams after him. So, I think it is more than reasonable to have a discussion as to how he will fit into our team if we were to sign him.

Honestly, I dont think Neill is good enough. Further, I dont think he's classy enough either. I think he's got an incredible streak of breaking his opponents' legs!! He broke a Liverpool player's leg some years ago (when Houllier was in charge) and someone else's legs a year later. If there is any use for him, it'll be to bring him on to take care of Nedved and the other serie a "divers"----just kidding. Yeah, so I think his style suits England more than Italy and hopefully we consider more classy alternatives. But knowing our management, especially if Neill comes cheap, you never know....

Actually, Sant has a very reasonable point, in that Debs announced a rumour thread for all these stories. In reality, I should have already merged ALL rumour threads created into that one. The reason I haven't is because whether I do or not merge, we'll be seeing people creating new threads for pretty much every new story out, without actually just posting it in the rumour thread.

Therefore, I've shown some leniancy until now regarding this, as it lessens my workload rather than having a daily merge session whenever I come here (wasting a great deal of my time).

Rather than blaming Sant for blasting such threads, read the rules.

What you say doesnt make complete sense. Every transfer begins as a rumour. Remember all the rumours about us signing Gourcuff? It all started way before we actually signed him. So if we were to discuss every potential transfer in the "rumours" section, then what are we to discuss in the "transfers" section? Completed transfers only? There wouldnt be too much to talk about then. I think it's only right that threads are opened up about potential transfers or transfer targets for discussion. That way threads are separated and if someone is not interested in discussing a particular player or rumour, then they can feel free to not read the thread. I dont see anything wrong with someone opening up a thread for discussion in the appropriate section.

By the way, I just had a quick glance at the other threads in this section----Ze Roberto, Diarra, Emerson, Zambrotta, Tymochouk----arent they also nothing more than rumours? Shouldnt they also ALL be discussed in the rumours section? Not that Im a big fan of this thread, but if all of the others are allowed to stand, then why not this one?

Because the mods, espcially Dev, are overwhelmed with all the threads starting in this section and simply don't have time to merge or close all the pointless threads.

BTW, I was looking over the moderators of the forum and over half don't even go on anymore Is it just me or do we need some new mods?

As suggested by SANT, you can use the ignore list to avoid any posts by any particular person whom they feel aren't that intellectual or "realistic". Even Debs had told that if you uncomfortable with the amount of the "BS" threads or posts that crop up, just ignore them and post in the ones which you feel are relevant. No one forces you to post or read each of them

If all the rumours are discussed in one thread then how can there be uniformity? How can every one discuss about Buffon and Torres in the same thread?

About the relevancy of this thread/Lucas Neill:
If we are unable to get Miguel or Alves then there is no way we should ignore this player. He is fighter and is very well known among the Blackburn fans and has played in the RB position succesfully for over 2 years. He is not that young but but I beleive everyone knows the importance of experience after the show put up by France. Along with that, now-a-days a player enters his prime at around 29.
