Anyway, i was really hoping for only a -10 deduction, b/c starting at -15 is going to make it pretty tough to get into even the top 5 of the table. We'll have to be absolutely perfect. No draws, no stupid mess-ups versus the smaller teams, etc.
-15 is going to make it tough for us to get in the top 5? Really, even starting there we will have no problem cracking the top 5, and we wont have Lazio, Juve and Fiorentina on the way.

I don't understand why people are contend with the verdict, at least not the club:

"AC Milan believes that the C.A.F decision is taken from an extraordinary injustice and merits without doubt integral reform. The text of the decision will hardly be made available, in the certainty that the provision will become radically modified in the appeal court, with the acknowledgment of the absolute correctness of the acts of the club."

I don't think all of these players will be free. From what I've heard not everyone of them has a relegation clause in their contract. But we'll see. Most of them probably want to play in CL...?

Yes Debs, that is so true, but in the end, it may not be so bad, since we can appeal, (which I am sure we will). And for me, because the prosecutors know that we will appeal, that is why they have set such a high penalty, since they know that it may possible be overturned (on appeal).

I am currently in Costa Rica, (AA flight delayed until God knows when), PROUDLY wearing my Milan jersey, and watching the middle east explode...

So, insofar as things are happening in a global context, things are not so bad, considering all that is going on...and the potential for escalation.

I remain optimistic that we can reduce the points deduction, and/or play the UCL next season...

It's not a matter of point deduction, it's not a matter of UCL, it's not a matter of Scudetto, it's not a matter of anything...

It's a matter of honor.

I don't care about the around 30s top players available, Milan have a lot. Milan should bring some young guns and secure the CL spot for 07/08.

WE DESERVE THE LAST TWO SCUDETTI, IT'S NEVER A THREE-HORSE RACE.

We only have one active Transfers mod. If things get too bad we'll move someone over or something along those lines...

Quite so Jeff, but since we have been rendered "guilty" by the court, we now have to fight for what we can get, in terms of a reduction of the sentence...a fight for our besmirched honour.

To underscore my point: I saw on CNN international, a guy that had spent half his life in jail because of a wrong conviction, which was recently overturned via DNA evidence on appeal...does that mean he is without honour?

No, it means he was wrongfully implicated, and punished.

I maintain that the level of evidence does not corroborate with the punishment...therefore we must appeal this, and fight this decision, which will impact our revenue, the players on our squad, and our prospects for strengthening the team.

Very few players will want to come to a club not in the UCL...we stand to lose millions of dollars, which now, with Berlu´s rapidly unfolding worries, with the Spanish Govt wanting to indict him on curruption charges, or something of the sort, will be hard pressed to find...or to be able to divert from his other operations and into the club.

Forget our transfer season, unless its for the Juve supermarket...and many of Juve´s better players will rather Madrid than Milan...as well as a replacement for that traitor $heva.

We have to fight this obvious attempt to hurt our benefactor, without whom we may well (still) be in Serie B...we have to fight this injustice against our club...and I will fight in the trenches, on the internet, with those who seek to disparage my club, (verbally), whether in bars, or on the phone, via email or in my house.

I will fight to hold the name of AC Milan as a club with honor, which has been defiled, wrongly accused, and vilified, in my estimation, in a vindictive campaign by those who seek to do harm to Berlusconi, the man who single- handedly has made a world force out of a not so distantly promoted, bankrupt, insititution.

FORZA MILAN! FORZA BERLU!!

It is worth coming out of hibernation for this. Here is what I see will occur with Milan.
Cons
1. If things go badly, and the appeal is denied, it means no UCL for 2 seasons. Overcoming 15 points deficit is not a laughing matter.
2. If no UCL for two seasons, what does that mean for our top (core) players: Kaka, Nesta, Pirlo. The only person I have heard who is committed to Milan is Rino. Playing the CL means a lot to these guys. Being in this part of the world, it is hard to get all the news, so can anybody(milanmania member) who has heard any news, state if any of the players are willing to stay despite the dire circumstances.
3. This penalty makes acquiring top players an ardous task. The prospect of getting Gallas was enticing, it would have solidified our backline for 3 years or more. Now I wonder, if lack of CL matches will affect future/prospective signings. Boy does that Sheva really look smart right now.
4. Since the 2002/2003, Italian Clubs were undergoing a renaissance in European football. This penalty has just taken Italian Clubs five years back. With Clubs like Inter and Roma, I wonder what they could possibly do in the CL. This penalty has really hurt the advancement of Italian football.
5. There are so many cons to this penalty that I can't list all of them.

Pros
1. If Galliani and Co can show some mojo and net Zambrotta, Ibra, that can set us up for the next five years.
2. This penalty can help Milan really rebuild, by using the Serie A, as a template for young players.

I really hope Milan can play CL, otherwise.....things will really s**k

InterMerda can mount a scudetto challenge

I'm not as bleak as you about not being able to play in CL next year because I'm certain that we'll qualify again next year, and to be honest if you are a smart player, will you choose Real simply because they are in CL, but you know that they are destined to fail?

In any case, we'll fight till the end. The verdict is unacceptable.

p.s.: Warro are you studying for GRE?

Warro

There is a possibility that Milan can play in eufa cup, because empoli does not have a eufa licence so cannot compete in it.

I'm in a hurry so I didn't check the final standings for the last season ( without point deduction), but i guess that even with 15 less points we would have been on CL...

Kaka stated here in Brazil that he would not play for Milan if we were relegated. Don't know what he thinks of no CL...

Kaka leaving if we were relegated to Serie B would be disappointing, but more understandable. Kaka leaving because of no CL for one year, good riddance. I'd rather have players who want to be here. Not being in the CL is something all top clubs go through on occasion. Setting this aside, I hope we appeal and win the appeal. No CL sucks.
