I'm not saying playing 3 strikers is a dream ... i'm saying the personnel we are suggesting is the dream.
There's struggling defensively and there's struggling defensively in midfield, the latter is what i'm pointing too. Too much pressure is put on Gattuso to do all the donkey work as Seedorf & Pirlo (particularly last season) just weren't good enough in putting themselves about with the tackles or tracking back. This puts more pressure on the defence. If we negotiate this problem by bringing in someone strong like Diarra or YaYa Toure, then we'll lighten the load the defence is under. Too many times last season our midfield were just walked all over. When Kaka is advanced we are short of numbers in the middle and when some people don't do what needs to be done it makes a hard job even harder, particularly when you face an opposition who has 4 or even 5 against our 3. So i'm not arguing against your point of us conceding the 2nd fewest goals in the league, but something else. Hopefully that's a little clearer now ![]() Although on that point you could deduce some obvious points that (a) our defence was good enough last season to soak up alot of pressure when the midfield wasn't firing on all cylinders (b) that some of the Serie A opposition are poor and that the CL (where we faced more problems, Lyon & Barca spring to mind) opposition caused us more problems.

I see what you mean. I agree with the point you made about Serie A having weaker opponents.

Ancellotti/Milan will never go with 3 strikers as a default lineup, so it's a moot point - even if we sign both Torres and Fat Ronnie.
If you're going to go with 3 defenders, they must all be very good with a lot of teamwork/communication skills - and must all be true defenders. Cafu is more of a winger in that he pushes up the right side, like Serginho on the left. I prefer a 4-3-1-2, where our 3 midfielders (Seedorf, Piro, Gattuso) can drop back defensively as needed. Kaka stays up front mostly. Honestly though, if we continue to have injuries to our defense, it could be unsettling. |

Imagine having Ronaldo in his best form:

i cant believe there is a discussion of us contemplating playing with 3 strikers!
Since we have lots of creative midfielders, probably we should contemplate playing with 5 midfielders, imagine if pirlo, seedorf, kaka, gourcuff playing together... ronaldo can be a great signing as long as he loses some weights and improve his stamina and work ethics. i think torres is overrated, he doesnt score lots of goals, huntelaar is new vanbasten not ibrahimovic.

Ronaldo would not be a step in the right direction. It does not matter how many goals he has scored for Real Madrid or how many goals we may score for us. What matters is whether he has the attributes to fit into our team and our style of play. If we're talking about the Ronaldo of 2000, then definitely---that Ronaldo was the best player on the planet at the time. If we're talking about this Ronaldo, then no way. He does not have the speed, agility, work ethic, ambition, drive to play as our withdrawn striker, so I really dont care how many goals he will score.
As for his size, you have to be blind to argue that he is not overweight. His overall body fat might not be very high, but he is still overweight, he still has too much bulk. I am a doctor, so believe me, when it comes to these matters, I know what Im talking about. And lastly, we are signing a player who at the moment does not look to be starting for Real Madrid. Nobody else on the planet is linked to him. What does that say about our ambitions this year? |

I would like him to come here, as he is a great player and a friend,” said Kaka. “I don’t know how good the chances are of Ronaldo arriving, so you’d have to ask the club that. I haven’t been able to speak to him over the past few days.”

I'm NOT cursing Kaká, come on, for God's sake! It was only a provocative joke, perhaps silly, ok, but is not an offense!!! And you need to bear in mind that our footballers and directors are not demi-gods, but humain beings just like us, that can be criticized!

I honestly believe the idea of having Kaka and Ronaldo on the same team is appealing. I can see them adding a Brazilan flare on offense. Milan has many Brazilian players on the team and I believe it's the best enviroment for Ronaldo. He'll have his countrymen around him to help him fit in and get aquainted with the system. If he comes, all the negativity surrounding him over the last couple of years will dissapear. Milan, as we all know, has revived the careers of many players. Most known are Seedorf and Pirlo. Milan is by far the best place for him to play soccer. Period.

if Milan really wants a fat Brazilian striker... i rather Adriano... younger & has lots to prove to Inter... rather than a Real Madrid reject...

I'm dead sure that just the opposite of your projections will happen if the guy joins us: Fat Ronnie will disturb the good behaviour of his fellow countrymen with his hedonist, silly, arrogant and lazy attitudes; in fact, what we need the least on our side is the advent of a brazilian sub-group leaded by RONALDO.
And I guess we've already too many brazilians on Milan, enough with them. Last edited by zlatanov; 13-08-2006 at 17:30. Reason: disrespecting remark |
