I guess your post should be made a sticky as an example for others how one could critisize Ronaldo and his possible acquisition by Milan without being disrespectful to the player or Milan Management. And your post could also serve as an example for a certain member - who gaveus his word he would leave MM should Milan sign Ronaldo - that on this forum it is also possible to voice one's opinion in more than a half-line sentence that's being repeated over and over and over again. |

ok... so Bonera is Stam's replacement... just a scenario... next season... Costacurta & Maldini retires... Cafu & Serginho follows... we need to find 4 defenders to replace them... woohoo... let's set a world record of leakin' in goals if we fail to get them replaced... and let's assume we do replace all 4 of them... but they never settle in... Serie B never look any more likely...

CLARENCE SEEDORF: ’Great Milan’ 8/23/2006 BELGRADE - Clarence Seedorf said: ’We still don’t really know why we had to play this game. A great Milan, as a team and as a group. We can improve but we have the spirit to win. If Ronie arrives then I will be pleased. I don’t believe in formality, work and everyone is happy.’ RINO GATTUSO: ‘We’re back in the Champions League’ 8/23/2006 BELGRADE - Rino Gattuso said: ‘We weren’t at 100% and we are happy with our performance. We are back in the Champions League and we deserve this. I put my hand in the fire for our managers. We paid too dearly. I hope a major signing like Ronaldo arrives, we would want a champion like that in our group. We are competitive and can go all the way, we'll see what the transfer market throws up but if no one arrives we certainly aren't a little side.' DARIO SIMIC: ‘A very important game’ 8/23/2006 BELGRADE - Dario Simic spoke with the Milan Channel after putting on a strong performance in tonight’s win against Red Star Belgrade, he said: ‘It was a very important game for us, we suddenly found ourselves having to play it but it went well. The fans were always correct with us. Ronaldo could bring some enthusiasm.’ GALLIANI: ‘Inzaghi is the strongest striker in Europe’ 8/22/2006 BELGRADE - Adriano Galliani spoke about the game against Red Star: ‘This is the greatest Champions League victory, it is a dream. It has restarted everything, Milan will continue to be at the center of Europe. With our natural assets we are second to none. We have the strongest striker in Europe, Pippo Inzaghi. We have officially requested Real Madrid to open negotiations on the possible transfer of Ronaldo, but the players that we have are good.’ Nice posts in this thread too guys, like from Warro and G_Gattuso.

Now we're through, I just hope we do ourselves justice in the market. For me, Ronaldo is welcome. His record is undeniable, he is not in his best condition, but he will still score goals. I like Gila but he is still to score at the highest level (CL) and was ineffective in Germany. The key thing is that Ronaldo does not come alone, Tevez or Sobis or Torres should come too, and soon this summer has left me jittery. |

Well let's see.....leaving out my own judgement for the moment... whose judgement would I rather rely on? Would it be a list of quality footballers who have just put Milan into the Champions League proper, have given a lot of great service to the club and who actually know something about football (plus an administrator who has helped to make Milan the most successful club in the world over the past couple of decades)? Or should I rely on the judgement of a bunch of guys sitting around typing at a keyboard who can't manage to express a coherent idea or any line of reasoning so instead they resort to an endless stream of childish namecalling? Hmmmmm......who could it be now? As I pointed out much earlier in this thread, Ronaldo has scored 97 goals in 118 games for Real Madrid. His goalscoring record over the past four seasons is among the best in the world (far better, actually, than Shevchenko's). Even last year, when he was injured and out of shape, he still managed to score 14 goals in just 23 appearances. That's more goals in 23 games than the great Ferdando Torres -- who seems to have half the posters on this board pleasing themselves over him -- scored in 35 games. Yet somehow Ronaldo's career is proclaimed to be over and Torres is the second coming of van Basten. It's entirely possible that all Ronaldo needs is a change of scenery to spark that desire inside him. It happens time and again. And with a bit of work on his fitness, I have little doubt he would be a 20-plus goalscorer this year just as he was his first three years at Madrid. Now, would I trade Kaka for him? Of course not! Would I blow all the money Chelsea paid for Shevchenko? No. But if Milan were to buy him for 10-12 million pounds, that would be a gamble well worth making. And if he doesn't pan out, so what? Milan isn't going to be broken by 10 or 12 million pounds, more or less. Yet some of you act as if Milan buying Ronaldo would result in the downfall of Western Civilization and the coming of the Apocalypse! ![]()

I swear if we waste another minute trying to get that saber-toothed, jiggling tub of guts I will jam a pen in my neck. Seriously, this guy is way, way past it. Ok, scored that one goal in the Cup against Ghana but what the heck else? No way the Brazilians here will change him compared to the others at Real. We'll continue coddling him and this disgusting hobby of stuffing his grill with custard-filled crullers will go unabated.
The Milan "braintrust" really need to get their heads examined. What's going on with Gallas? He wants Milan! And he's relegated to Chelsea's reserves, waiting to be plucked! And what about Tevez? Didn't he explicitly say that he would entertain offers from us? We are through to the group stages. If we don't anything by next Monday we're screwed.

Rick & G_G nicely put, common sense very well said. If Ronaldo comes, it will not make us nor break us as a team and I will welcome him from the bottom of my red & black heart.

G_Gattuso and RICK made awesome posts in favour of the transfer!
I think it is worthwhile to just wait and see what the management does. We MUST trust the management as we have done all these years. Each year they are accused of some transfer or the other and they build a competitive, successful team. They will do it again this year. Just have faith in their ability and sit back and relax instead of trying to accuse them of deliberately destroying the team.

And let me just add this guy went and had knee surgery after the WC without consenting with his team first. And we all know what happened when he and his knees were with Inter. What's up with that? Are you guys who are for this transfer willing to risk a sizable amount of our transfer budget on this horsecrap? Heavy playing weight is one thing. Heavy playing weight on two bad knees is a recipe for disaster and wasted money on has-been talent. And don't give me this he scored this many goals in this many games blah-blah-blah-blah gibberish. We are in need of a scorer who also has support qualities as well. At RM all he did was finish off the great work provided to him.
