Cicinho on sale for 8 milion

The ex-São Paulo player was an express desire of ex-Madrid Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, but after the Brazilian left Madrid has been used less and less. The idea is to sell the player on to a club that uses the 3-5-2 system in which Cicinho flourished and, if no buyer can be found by Thursday, may loan him out to a ‘friendly’ club until a December sale can be arranged.

Cicinho’s potential departure also owes a lot to Madrid’s failed attempt to slough off Ronaldo, but AC Milan weren’t biting for the 30 million Euros that Mijatovic was trying to get from the Italians – even went the price was slashed by 5 million – and the other potential samba source of income – Baptista – also failed to attract a sufficient bid from Arsenal and said ‘no’ to a Spurs offer.

The 8 million will go a long way to bringing either Chivu (AS Roma) or Alex (PSV Eindhoven) to the Spanish capital as Capello’s tight jaw is starting to grind with only five days left to land the solid defender that he’s demanding to round off the new model Merengues. The curse of Gento’s number 11 shirt continues after Michael Owen came and went. It now looks like Cicinho will follow him out of the back door, but who will inherit the once coveted and now jinxed number?

we should get oddo and next year go for Alves when Cafu retires. Cicingo cant defend -cant play for milan as a full back.

True Cicinho can't defend, but he can learn. I always wanted him to come but then I got a bit angry at him for saying "My dream is to play for Milan" and then goes to Man Utd and Real and tries to negotiate deals with them. Alves is prolly a better option, but Cicinho's attacking skills are second to none. Prolly even better than Cafu!

Cafu is the most intelligent fullback in the world, and it hepls him to play at highest level at this age. He reads the game perfectly, doesnt lose position oftenly and son on....

Actually, many of our goals in previous seasons have been because of Cafu's bad positioning. But I agree that he is very intelligent. Thats why Cicinho will improve a lot if he plays along side Cafu in training and everything. Cicinho can also be used in a 4-4-2 formation for us. I think he's much better than Oddo. But there's also another thing we can do: buy Cicinho, send him to Sevilla + say 1-5m and get Alves. Or we can actually ask Betis to give us money + Alves for Cicinho to make them think Cicinho is better and then we eventually settle for a straight swap

It's a great opportunity to finally replace Cafu, let's hope the board won't miss that.

A good player going forward, but defensively not right for us. Alves is the one if we were to get another Brazilian right-back ... Rafinha is a great prospect but maybe not quite ready yet. I still think Reveillere is as good a choice as any.

Why not also go for Baptista if he's available ? We could at least ask what the price might be, though i've heard it's £12 million, not sure if that is true or not.

Theres one reason why he is for sale. Its because he is a $h!t right back. Capello should know, he has got the best out of Cafu and Mancini afterall.
The fact that Milan havent already snapped someone like Miguel or Alves up is a joke.

I agree with both of your minds. I heard tonight at the TV broadcasting in Real-Villareal that he is for sale. He is good for now but i also agree that he doesn't defend. Alves is great player. But for Capello's game lokk my opininon in tactics, in wingers.

Did he turn us down for real, or was it just a case that Milan didn't want to pay the money his old club wanted?

I dont have no doubt that cicinho is better than Oddo, for that I m sure, when we talk about Alves thats a different story, couse this guy is incredible, but his hard to get or very expensive. Cicinho is available and not expensive. And we need a full back, not that Cafu is over, by far his better than most of this guys mentioned above. but we new bood
