Maybe if they land Buffon, they'll send Lehmann back to Germany sooner. I don't even think it's reliable at the moment. Based on Buffon's own statements, he really wants to stay in Serie A. Arsenal does not pay very well (as well as Juve or Milan) - so that figures in too.

No way Buffon will move to Arsenal. He wants to play for Milan. He's loyal enough to Juve to remain with them for this year if that's what they want. He's stated in the past that he prefers to remain in Italy. And there is no way that Arsenal can afford to pay half of what Milan could pay for him -- which would be the only reason Juve might sell. If he goes anywhere, it will be Milan. But he most likely will remain at Juve this year.

Dida's performances until January may be a factor that will keep Buffon away from Milan in January already.
It would be unfair to Dida to lose his place and potentialy lose Champions league. It's not Milan like to dump Dida at half season.

All this goes only if Dida won't continue his bad form from last season.

Transfer market is closed. No Buffon. No Amelia.

How much did we buy Dida for in the first place ? I hope it wasn't a large amount, would be disappointing to see us wash it away because he won't sign a new contract.

From the rumours I've read from various places:
Dida is going to sign with Corinthians after this season. The agreement with the player (supposedly) has already been made, and they are just waiting until Jan to sign the papers. (Won't move until the end of this season)

Amelia (posted recently on Tribal - yeah, I know) - wants to go to ROMA. Not saying that he won't come to Milan, but he says Roma has been chasing him. No mention of Milan at all.

Personally, I don't understand why Abbiati is in the doghouse. He's a good keeper! Could have pushed Dida, and even started for us next year if we fail to sign a top keeper (given the transfer policy so far this year). ie. I DO NOT want to see Kalac starting for Milan next year. Buffon is no guarantee, and Amelia looks less and less.

Don't be silly, Kalac won't be a first choice keeper. Best for us would be Juve not promoting

People like to forget what someone like Abbiati has done for us. I'd have absolutely no quarrel with him coming back next season and resuming as our #1! Hopefully he'd be open to returning. I did read someplace that Buffon said a move to Milan would be "interesting" but he'd consider it "in a couple years" so that's pretty indefinite, not the sort of thing we can count on at all.

Me too, i have always love Abbiati's reflexs, simply unbeatable but proned to errors. He need to play often to get back his form.

Yeah thats true, Inter have offered Toldo and Burdisso for Him... We are offering cash and maybe Amelia....

Buffon has slated Inter alot recently, and with all of the scandal stuff i dont know why Juve would want to sell another one of its best players to Inter!

MR. I-own-the football-world is in the hunt for buffon.

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon is in the sights of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

With Petr Cech facing a year on the sidelines following his serious head injury suffered on Saturday, Abramovich is weighing up a move for Buffon, says Gazzetta dello Sport.

Buffon has declared he wants to stay with Juve this season in Serie B, though hasn't ruled out leaving Turin next summer.

With the World Cup winner not Cup-tied from the Champions League, his signing is an attractive prospect for Abramovich should Carlo Cudicini fail to impress in Cech's stead leading up to the January market.
