for blasi:i did'n watch him play, but if he is good, toudht and good PASSER-so that are the tree important things for the good DM.
something very imaportant:they are italians, and milan is a italian teem.
We need to be carefull w/ this "prooved in serie A" thing...The Milan shirt is heavy. One thing is doing good in Fiorentina, and other in Milan. I´m not bashing Pasqual, just that IMO more important than serie A experience, is to purchase players mentaly strong...to hold the pression of to play in Milan.
See Gilla case...

Well said! MENTAL TOUGHNESS is something we forget when we judge players. We have to avoid the sissy ones so that when the time come comes they are up for it even when many factors are against them. I beleive it should be the most important criteria to look at the player's strength.

Yes he is but we can use him in the position os Seedorf (if his game goes to hell, which I really hope that it doesn't). I also read somewhere that he wants to leave Blackburn. Surely there will be other english sides ready to get his signature but he also idolizes Van Basten so ......

Its a good squad, but I don't see anything special in De Rossi. I would rather have Gattuso. And I don't know about the strikers, maybe Pippo has a few years left in him.

Boca Juniors vs River Plate at the moment. Palacio and Higuain have both scored..

By looking at the trends of this transfer season I am so confident that we won't even bother to ask for their prices. At least I got to see a good game after a long time.

Besides they have become "Big Names" now and demanding "Big Names" for our team makes one a phan. I don't want to be known as a phan! I'll stick to Ricardo Olivera.

Higuain was 'Man of the Match' today...while Boca had one of the worst defensive performance in a long time.

Well, I don't really know how you can find that out (mental toughness) before purchasing the player. After all, how do we know if Elano, Marcelo, Lucas...etc. have mentall toughness. Unless the player has already played for a big club and has done well there, there is no way to know whether he is mentally tough or not. One thing is for sure though. If the player is tallented and good, then he will have confidence to do well in a big club. That is where the "proven in Italy" comes in handy. You have highly talented players like Pasqual, Elano, Marcelo.....but one of them has proven that he can play well in Serie A and that is Pasqual. Therefore he certainly has the upper hand.
Rahul...how do we avoid sissies? How can we possible know who is and who isn't one?

Vadim....I see your point. I would rather have Rino in that squad as well, but if we can somehow squize both of them in there, now that would be something. I think De Rossi is a tremendous player. He has grown into one of the best midfielders in Italy. Just watch Roma and you'll see how indispensible he is in their play. He proved that he can be a great player for the Italian national team and he can certainly become a great one in Milan. Is it possible to put him in the team together with Gattuso and Pirlo? Is our midfield going to get too defensive (Ambro-Rino)? What about Gourcuff? Well, De Rossi gives great ballance in midfield for Italy as he is good at going forward as well. Good passer and a great tackler. But again...I don't know of the chances of putting him in this line-up. I would leave that to Carlo!

Football Italia:
Cassano ‘perfect’ for Napoli
Monday 9 October, 2006

Real Madrid’s transfer market consultant has this afternoon sensationally urged Antonio Cassano to join Napoli.

Ernesto Bronzetti believes that the Serie B outfit would be the perfect environment for Cassano to live up to his potential should they win promotion to the top flight this term.

“I think Napoli would be an excellent solution for him,” Bronzetti, the man who looks after all of the Spanish club’s overseas moves, told Radio Incontro on Monday.

“Cassano is a player who needs to feel that people believe in him and needs to be pushed on by the fans.

“For this reason, Napoli could offer him the perfect stage to express his high levels.”

Cassano joined Real in January after a £3.5m fee was agreed with Roma given that his contract had just six months left to run in Rome.

However, the man nicknamed ‘Talentino’ by the Spanish media, has struggled in Madrid – even following the appointment of Fabio Capello as boss.

As a result, Bronzetti feels that the ex-Bari starlet’s time with the European giants may be coming to an end.

“We all know that Cassano gets long faced when he’s not playing and he tends to relax mentally,” he added.

“Unfortunately there is a relatively clear situation in Madrid with Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo the first choices, with Raul and Robinho the second reserves.”

Cassano’s lack of recent use by Capello, his former Roma mentor, has also cost him his place in the Italian squad.

what about he comes in milan?

As I started this(mental toughness), I will try to explain. Pasqual proven that can play in Fiorentina. But not in a BIG club like Milan...In the past I want Gilla or Luis Fabiano in Milan. We purchase Gilla(proven in Serie A) and I was glad. But until now, Gila didn´t show the "Parma level" since arrived to the Milan. So the guy forgot as soccer is played??? IMO, NO!! Unfortunately he is feeling the pressure of play in a big club like Milan
And I affirm that, therefore he would be able to be bad in the Milan, and good in Italia NT. But not, Gilla is bad in both teams...Unfortunately, cuz I really want Gilla in Milan jersey.
It´s just question of opinion, but for me, a player is really proven in serie A IF he show his value in a BIG club in serie A(Juve, Inter, Roma). If not, his serie A experience, for me is not validates..but is just my opinon.

I accept that it is difficult to sort out players according to their toughness. One factor which sticks out amongst the tough ones is their aggresion. Players like totti (talented and fiery), rino (not highly talened but surely agressive, quite similar to Roy Keane), Maldini (no questions about his talent and very agressive on the pitch at least), etc. Fearlessness also can be a attribute of a tough player. But then again only Italian players or players who have played in come to my mind so I guess first class expeience is needed but not neccesarily to part of a first class team. A player can be a part of a team which on the verge of a revolution.

Again I say that it is very difficult but we also have an amazing team of transfer gurus most importantly Braida who has alot of experience so we shouldn't have big problems.
