But there's one thing I don't like about him and is the same thing why I don't like Totti ... these are too egocentric guys that think too much of themselves having an attitude that disrupts the team uniformity and set a bad example... and these are characteristics that Milan does not need at all ...
characteristics in which under my point of view roma has fallen into ... they are a narcissistic side because of the egocentric influence of Totti ...
and this tilts too much the balance and focus of the team... instead we ACMilan strive to work like a team, play with aplom, behave mature and look experienced for the sake of imposition and dominance ...
so this egocentric personality trait dissociates the team uniformity Milan strives and needs to be capable of unleashing its inherent power.

Gila needs to become humble like Kaka is, like Pirlo is, like Sheva and Gattusso are too and then he'll fit better and better into Milan ... he making our squad eficiently more prolific. IMHO.
Zlat has pretty much said what I wanted to respond.

About $hevchenko though, I have something else to say about his 'humility': he is definitely not as humble as Gilardino. If a player had to have at least one big fight with the coach every season, I wouldn't say he is humble. If a player in order to break his deadlock, took away the penalty kick that he wasn't supposed to take, I wouldn't say that he is humble (I was referring to Milan 5-0 Ancora, when Pirlo was about to take the penalty at 0-0, and it was the second half already. $hevchenko took it instead as he had a quite long scoring drought before that game; Pirlo didn't insist, but Ancelotti was furious; to make it worse, later JDT created a penalty himself and insisted that he take it too; and Pirlo agreed too. What a wimp. you can only imagine that Ancelotti was even madder; his face turned green despite the high scoreline that eventually turned out ).

I don't think he's selfish while playing ... and his case is not as bad as Totti's ... I've also noticed that this attitude has been decreasing of late, but what I think is that for example when he's screwed so many opportunities before (in the likes of sitters) was because of him thinking and anticipating his celebration and personal honors ... this is more like a childish triumphalistic behavior which no other player in milan ever shows because I guess are more mature ... but I could bet two things and one is this ... If Gila would have turn out plainly espectacular right from the start with Milan you may have probably had a totally different Gila and I think not precisely more humble and second is... if him would be playing for Roma by now I'm totally sure you would've had a totally different Gila too.

But ofcourse this are hypothesis and a couple of uncorroborative IF's ... and I never meant to insult anyone with the words egocentric and narcissism but how are you suppose to call those who think too much of themselves? ... Milan is the perfect place for him cuz noone suffers from arrogance ... but I still think a different situation and different partnership would have made a different person out of him... he's just the way he is bcuz of the circumstances he's in ... althought I cheer, respect and appreciate his many other qualities ...

I don't think selfishness is Gila's problem, otherwise he probably wouldn't have garnered as much support during his scoreless drought. Heck, I've heard more fans consider Kaka to be more "selfish" than Gila; whether or not that's true is another story.

In fact, I think someone not too long ago (can't remember whom) blasted Gila for being too unselfish.

Two games in a row, though. The one against Inter was a beaut. Hope this is the breakthrough we've all been waiting for. (Too bad he wasn't given the chance to take the penalty yesterday, though.)

I have to agree with Ego gere... both of his goals in those 2 games were really not important. I was happy about it and all, but if look from this side, we lost against inter and we 'already' won against anderlecht. If he was a bit better he wouldnt be standing in offside on his dissallowed inter goal and we would draw it - thats the point. Sheva on the other hand saved matches with goals, and also slotted some 'unimportant' goals. But when did we win a game with a crucial Gilardino goal...? Im so happy for him and im holding my fingers crossed for him, but he still owes us A LOT, and i wont be happy with him untill he starts getting 0.5 goals/game - cos that the kind of attacker milan needs, milan wants and milan deserves.

We dont wanna be second in all competitions again this year, do we?

his goal against inter was an important one, because it brought us back in the game, only after the game you could see his goal as unimportant if you really want to be so negative about Gilardino

did you watch the last minutes in that match? The goal of Gilardino gave us a brilliant match to watch until the end. And some of my friends who is interista said "We are scared until the end"

I don't know why there are someone said Gilardino is selfish. He is very unselfish as a box striker. I remember the match last year when Shevchenko scored 4, there was a goal Gilardino didn't take the chance and gave the goal to Shevchenko.

I don't think Gila is arrogant. he appears to be humble IMHO. However what I do question is his talent and mental strength. Sheva could come on as a sub for 15 minutes and create absolute havoc in any defence. Gila needs to
1) start
2) get great passes
3) have a 'good hair day'
etc etc.
I will stop knocking him because he could turn the corner on me ( which I'm hoping for ). So I won't knock him any further. But we need a guy more like our other attackers sheva Inzaghi or Kaka. Guys who need the whole universe to be in harmony are good enough for the bench but aren't starting milan material
If ever Gila:
1) comes on as a sub and saves us a loss/ or gives us the three
2)Scores the first goal in a match which isn't a blowout
3)Scores the equalizer or winning goal

MORE THAN TWICE FOR THE SEASON I'll shut up for a month

The point is how do you know when a goal is important or not? You can only tell that at the end of the game, not during it. Until that final whistle goes anything can happen.

What if Gilardino hadn't score against Derby but we still got three goals? Then you'd all be whining about him NOT scoring and NOT getting the decisive goal. The lad can't win!

What if he didn't get his goal against Anderlecht and they scored 2 late goals like we did against Inter and drew the match 3-3? Again, you'd all be complaining bitterly!

When Shevchenko scored 4 goals in the CL did anyone moan about how that many were unecessary? I think we won 4-0 or 4-1, so he only really needed 1 or 2 goals in that matches, the other 2 were meaningless in that blowout of a match.

Also, what is 0.5? I take it you mean 1 goal every 2 games? Either that or you want half a goal a game??

yeah lol, i meant half a goal a game (jk, you're right )

Its really not necessary to talk about the importance of a goal that much, i am fully aware of all those things u mentioned. Too many if's, and an answer in second sentence.

Gilla somehow cant handle the pressure of 'must scoring'. I think u agree with me its a different style of play if u are leading 3:1 and there is 15-20 minutes more to go, or if you are loosing or drawing (when u really need the win) at the same time. Well... i hope he is more relaxed now, 2 goals in 2 games, and he got us a penalty kick. Better be, cos we're waiting on that for too long already. Actually, Drucul said it like i mean it

Oh btw, i still believe some goals are faaar more important than others. For me, Shevas 3rd and 4th goal against the team that was already giving up (the game u mentioned) cant nearly compare to Inzaghi's lifesaver against lyon.

How about Inzaghi's lifesaver vs Ajax
(which as we all know Tomasson stole)

This is starting to be funny. People make the weirdest arguments just to prove their point. How can a goal be pointless. Every goal has its contribution. For example the second goal in the derby that Gila scored lifted up everyone. I actually believed that we can score 2 more in 15 minutes. The whole team did and that's why they played the way they did. If he didn't score that goal, then we might as well had given up huh? And by the way......when we are leading 1/2/3-0, the team might as well not play because any goals they'll score after that will be pointless. I can't believe these arguments. The guy is playing good and started scoring goals. Give him the credit and praise him. Unbelieavable!

Thanks nefremo...u said it better than I could...but lets face it, as I have said before...there will be those here who will choose to barrack players, curse them out, state they shouldnt be on the team (etc etc) as I did for a time with Beirfo..ahem Bierhoff and Vieri...so I can understand their angst...

But anything to the xtreme is dissatisfying, and monotonous..but, hey, if they feel like droning on and on, or being like that annoying whine a mosquito makes in your ear, then, we can always chose to ignore them, since swatting, or using bug spray, is not an option.

Over the time frame I have been here, I have moved (matured) from being a scathing critic of underperforming players (especially those I didnt like, as aforementioned) to trying to lend support, regardless of how insubstantive it is at the end of the day, to our struggling players...wont spare a critique, but I try to make it balanced.

As time passes, some of the more vitriolic posts and posters, may subside, as they tire of their own bile.
