There is a big difference between forwards and strikers. Ones can mostly create for themselves and others like you said live off scraps and crosses.
Yes, I agree that we need another FORWARD, but not a superstriker as we already have 2 in Inzaghi and Gilardino.

So what do you do with the interim striker (Ronaldo or whoever) when the season is over? I don't see the point in buying anyone for just 6 months because you're lumbered with them for quite a while afterwards, unless they are ancient or just plain rubbish, in either case you wouldn't want them in the first place.

I don't think anyone is forgetting the great things Shevchenko did for us, but he wasn't perfect. Indeed when he was here, you weren't allowed to criticise him at all, even when he deserved it.

Ronaldinho actually won "best striker" in the CL and Kaka won "best mid"
Anyway Inzaghi is a superstriker but his age is starting to show and Gila is not yet up to Inzaghi's level.

Anyway I understand what you were saying about getting a foward or a "support striker".

I thought Etoo won best striker in those CL awards? Or did he win best overall player or something?

Deco - best midfielder
Puyol - best defender
Dinho - best player, overall, in the CL

Ronaldinho and Messi are listed as strikers somewhere because usually the officials have 3 categories. Defendors, Midfielders and strikers. It is only simple to do that rather then list, wing-backs, defensive-midfielders, playmakers, support-strikers, strikers and what not.

It doesn't matter what they are listed as but what matters is where we see them on the field and what they actually do while playing. That's what I was saying with that.
The reason I said it in that way however was that I am a little tired of reading all these arguments about how gila only scores unimportant goals and what not. It really pissed me off last night!

dino & messi look to recieve the ball at the edge of the attacking 1/3rd, usually on a touch line. from there they create! by dribbling at defenders...or short give and goes...that makes them AM's in my book.

i judge the striker (super or not) on 3 criteria 1- the runs he makes away from the ball -2-checking back to the player with the ball -3-finishing

1-on the run - does it create space? does it give a good opportunity to score or cross?
2-on the check back - what does the striker do with the ball once recieved?
3- finishing -

i've been watching gila intensely for some time. i almost started keeping a record of his runs and evertime he touched the ball...and grading it. (my wife thinks im nutz).

what grade would you give him on runs made? (imho:"C-" he doesnt have the awareness of a "inzaghi" yet - and alot of his runs are straight ahead into the middle of defence...where he gets lost alot)
checking back? ("C-", he losses the ball or makes a bad pass about 65% of the time)
finishing? ("C" - he has scored in 2 games in a row...and i really want to give him a better grade...)

i watch every game with my heart, then analize it with my brain.

i havent had the opportunity to watch gila at all prior to milan, so i dont know what his potential is, and i hope he can impove into what alot of you want him to be.

Sheva was critisized when he deserved it...But the thing is that he was almost perfect. In many our victories we should thank only him

ya, that's why we should thank him for making the Chelsea move for, errrmmmm, family reasons.

Yes Chelsea dont have the same ball players Milan do, but that is no excuse for $heva. Why then is Drogba scoring. Crespo didnt start nearly as many games,but scored a healthy amount of goals. In his first season there (he joined after the season started) and hardly played, was injured often and infact was labelled a failure there and then given to us on loan, but still managed to score 10 PL goals.

Where as $heva starts every game and isnt scoring. Our Gila on the other hand scored 17 Seria A goals in his first season at Milan. Why cant the great $heva score that many-3 reasons

1.He hasnt got Pirlo's heat seekers finding him, not to mention Seedorf and Kaka.
2.Its always hard at a new club.
3.He isnt a spring chicken anymore and made an idiotic decision to change averything goood in his life to unknown quantities.
4.Or quite possibly he may just be past it and Milan cashed in on him just in time.

He said that Sheva made a mistake joining Chelsea because in Milan everyone plays football where in Chelsea strikers are given less opportunities because of their defencive approach and their strikers struggle.
He also said that Sheva is viewed im Chelsea as Abramovich's pet and he gets less clear-cut opportunities because of that. He said that because he noted that he has a lot of friends at Chelsea and apperantly knows what's going on over there.
