i say for the sake of sanity, this thread (in this nice forum), that we all start "a fresh" on gila and dont use any history (good or bad) as an influence.

Catagory A) finishing / scoring 1-50pts
Catagory B) Passing 1-20pts (includes assists and crosses)
Catagory C) off the ball mv't / defending 1-15 pts
Catagory D) heart / effort / fitness 1-15pts (the gattusso factor)
my friend,

I am very sure that you meant well. and I appreciate your input.

No offense, but I don't think this well-intentioned thread can work in the way you would desire.

Trust me. and by the way, the Gila argument has been settled, in a perfect way. well, more than perfect.

Thanks anyway.

Wow, looks like none of our strikers did very well this evening!

Now you're being unfair. You didnt even bother to rate Gilardino and this is all what this topic is about. You come and rate the other two strikers just to show that Gila isnt bad. For your info, Oliveira did more running than Gila BY ALOT, and the 1st second Inzaghi came on you can see him running out wide with the ball. Oliveira hit the post by creating a chance from nothing, and had several shots off-target. Inzaghi was in the game all the time and was dangerous everytime he got the ball.

If you were to rate them they would AT LEAST get 30's or 40's. Even if they didnt score goals, they do get points for their finishing which was better than Gila. Their movement was both better. I dunno about Oliveira's heart, but im pretty sure he had much more than Gila. You could see how disappointed he was and how he was angry for the chances he missed. Gila cant EVER have as much heart as Pippo.

What else is left, assists? Its not like Gila was the Trequartista giving passes everywhere. Oliveira was pretty selfish but he did indeed put a few good passes. Inzaghi as well. Gila had 2 passes, one was wasted by a Kaka header, and another to Jankulovski down the left flank. Every other time he had the ball he goes for a dive. Did anyone see his dramatic 360 in the air at the edge of the penalty area? PATHETIC.

I really am not being unfair, if I am, just tell me where did I judge him incorrectly. If you think I judged incorrectly, it either means we watched a different game or one of us is literally BLIND. In every aspect of football, Gila was the worst striker on the pitch today, again. Even channel4 have said in their report how disappointing he was during the game.

Its funny that in a thread DEDICATED to RATING GILA, members of the pro-Gila camp feel the need to add bad marks of the other strikers so he won't look so bad lol!!

Oliveira

a) No goal 2 points (2 pts for hitting the bar)
b) No assists 2 points (good build up play nothing substantial though)
c) Some off the ball movement & defending 3 points (great movement, no defending)
d) some heart shown, anonymous for long periods 10 points

overall 17/100

Inzaghi

a) No goal 0 points
b) No assist 0 points
c) got into good positions but was caught offside 8 points
d) showed some determination and effort 5 points

Gila
a) No goal 0 points
b) No assists 1 points (average/ obvious apssing)
c) off the ball movement & defending 2 points didn't have the heart to give him another zero
d) heart shown, anonymous for long periods 2 points He is a Milan player, hopefully he has some heart

overall 5/100

Well it looks like the starting lineup should be Oli- Inzaghi They mightn't be great, but they aren't as bad as Gila are they?
Oli had a beautiful strike which hit the crossbar. He was really working for Milan pity he couldn't have scored

A) 10 pts...he had two redirected crosses that should be worth something..
B) 5 pts... had a nice cross kaka and a through ball to oli
C) ? - he runs straight ahead...or when he checks back, he gets fouled
D) i think i saw 2 dives, i hate dives. 0 pts

im not sure if i like this grading system, however, i think that it is pretty obvious gila is not getting it done...

does inzaghi have more freedom on the pitch than gila? i never see him get wide like pippo does? and why doesnt ancelloti tell him where to be?

unfortunately, i wouldnt rate oli any better than gila today, and pippo cant be expected to come on with 20 left and do it by himself.

Why am i being unfair? Because i didn't rate Gilardino? You've all done that for me. Aren't you being unfair for not rating the other strikers in the same way you rated Gilardino? I don't think you can accuse me of anything without accusing yourself of the same thing.

Well clearly you're wrong there because of the marks drucurl gave to both Inzaghi & Oliveira. How can they get better marks for finishing? None of them scored. The team had 19 other shots at goal besides Gilardinos, so if you won't give marks for a shot on target then you shouldn't give marks to anyone else wether they hit the post or not. Your logic.

Did i say you judged Gilardino incorrectly? Did i say Dan did either? How do you know i didn't agree with your scores? You've jumped the gun so much it's unbelievable.

Seeing as you seem to know so much about analysis of results, you'd know that you can't gauge any marks like this without comparing it to the marks of other players. Otherwise Gilardino's grades would be just pointless and wouldn't mean a thing.

It's also funny and amazingly hilarious that you've made Gilardino not look so bad by giving the other strikers poor marks. Thanks for doing my alleged job for me. My score for Inzaghi is identical to yours (13 points) and your Oliveira score is 7 points more than mine, hardly a huge difference there.

I'll say it once again as you have a hard time comprehending this statement, i'm not pro Gilardino, i'm not in any camp. All i'm doing is standing up for him against blinded arguments that some of you have offered. If you'd treat and expose the other strikers to the same kind of badgering then maybe alot of this would stop. It would from me i know that much.

I'll defend any great player when someone acuses him for being an average-weak player, or for scoring unimportant goals..........but this time i won't lie to myself :
Gila was a timber on this match. His worst match this season !

Great timing for opening this thread Jim

wrong Tony29... this isn't Gilardino's worst match this season... i know it is hard to believe that his dismal performance against Roma wasn't his worst match... because there have been worse this season...

Jim I think you are a 'closet-Gila-fan' . Yes I did give the other strikers low grades because at the end of the day they made no difference. Its called "being fair"
Also remember this " to whom much is given much is expected"
Gila is burdened with the most expectation because he is our MAIN STRIKER.
Finally this thread is about rating Gila's performances. Nice try !!

I ll have a go in this one ..sorry

Catagory A) finishing / scoring 1-50pts
Catagory B) Passing 1-20pts (includes assists and crosses)
Catagory C) off the ball mv't / defending 1-15 pts
Catagory D) heart / effort / fitness 1-15pts (the gattusso factor)

OK so lets see....
A) finishing/scoring - "0"
B) Passing (as I wasnt lucky to see good passes from him at all in that game, I ll be so kind and give him 4 points here, as he did pass the ball during the game, unlike some games where he is not seen at all) - "4"
C) Off the ball in this match I d give him minus points for constantly falling down with no particular reason for that - "-5"
D) Heart and efforts...yes he does try a lot, he wants to do it right, but cant. So for the desire to play well I can give him 5 points, because this desire doesnt change the way he plays. - "5"

So here we go, the TOTAL is 4 points. It doesnt seem so good, does it? But it is just my subjective opinion

So why did you do the same as me and grade the other strikers? You obviously can see that rating the other strikers is necessary in order to gauge just how well or how poorly Gilardino played. So why single me out for doing something you've done aswell?

That is fair to rate every player...especially if somebody wants to do it. But compare Gila against other players is not a good idea I think. It would not show anything really, except for Gila's poor performance.
