that's what I thought too but I guess there are certain "rules" as far as this goes. The reason why Higuain took so long to make up his mind was namely because of this "French" passport and how having it would have made him more "appealing' to European clubs in the future.
From what it said on gazzetta and other sources, he had to choose to play for the French NT in order to get/keep his EU passport. By choosing to play for Argentina, he basically refused a EU citizenship.
Not sure why that's the case, my guess is that French citizens are not allowed to have dual citizenship, which probably isn't the case with Italy since so many Argentinian and Brazilian player in Serie A have dual citizenship.

Arouca is the type of player that some call here(in Brazil) "motorzinho", it´s like "little engine". Summarizing, it is the type of player who makes the team MID to function...

Arouca appears before than Marcelo, and had a amazing season in Fluminense, but this year, it had 2 injures(not saying that is injure prone) in a row, and it can´t enter in rhythm. IMO, Milan material for sure. BTW, several people here in Brazil don´t understand why dunga still did not call to Brazil NT(Before the second injure this year), and call normal players like Dudu Cearense, Jônatas(now in Espanhol)...

What worries me is that of the players that we are linked here in Brazil, only Lucas and Marcelo are Milan material. The others like Fabão
But, Marcelo is right now in Madrid to agree terms of contract...and of Lucas I can´t hear(or read) more anything about our interest...

A player that is coming of injure(and would go to solve our offensive problems) and is right now being disputed for clubs here in Brazil, that can´t compete w/ Milan(in therms of money), is Nilmar. The guy is right now without a contract w/ Corinthians, and Lyon. After Robinho, I can´t see another second foward(talking about brazilinas) so talented as Nilmar...and the guy can play as CF(unlike Robinho) besides his body...

Back to your question, of the guys playing in Brazil, IMO only Nilmar, Arouca and Lucas could be brought, and to contribute right now. For sure, exist more players, but they are more of a projects, like:
Kerlon(OMD) of Cruzeiro.
Thiago(FW) of São Paulo.
Edurado Ratinho(RB) of Corinthians...and others that I don´t remember right now

Yes, C. Alberto had talent, but it is the example of player that din´t work hard to improve his game(like Denilson), and right now, IMO, can´t play in a big club of Europe.

About buying non-EU player:
We have to sell one non-EU player to buy another. (I think so)

I am not sure about Gago having an EU passport. I heard that he is eligible for Italian citizenship because of his dad.

Just to say that Lucas Leiva has (or is working in get ) Italian citizenship...

Thanks a lot brazileiro!I saw the stats of Arouca at football manager 2007,and this guy is amazing, he is young with very good stats,and he can do everything you want at midfield(attack,defence,crossing,technical,physical......)!

Yes, 2 great players(IMO Robinho is better). The explosion of Diego(in Werder), it´s easy to explain. For the first time, since that it was for the Europe, Diego is being used in a position where it is accustomed, the ODM role. In Portugal, for 2 coaches(Vitor fernadez e CoAdriansen, Sp?) the guy was used in a 3 man midfield(like in Holland), where the player needs to defend...and Diego was completely lost.
I´m just worried for Robinho. The guy is played as a winger in RM...what a waste. Capello just needed to watch Robinho in Brazil NT, and to see how good is Robinho playing as a second striker.

So from now i will keep in mind Arouca!

Regarding your questionand(and of Zlatanov), Ilsinho is a RB of São Paulo, that is showing some great attacking skills. But the guy only won the starting job at some weeks ago. I really saw this guy playing 3 or 4 times, and as I said, Ilsinho showed some impressive drible skills for a RB.

But it needs to improve a lot in defence. I was to say that Ilsinho is like Cicinho(in defence), but I´m not so used to his game. What I know is that Murici(Coach of S. Paulo) is working a lot w/ the guy to become a good defender. I read this news in the press, and the coach don´t hide this flaw of Ilsinho game.

I remeber that Villareal almost purchased Ilsinho this year. What I know(more for the press) is that Ilsinho is very good in Attack, but need to work in defence. But I remeber several highlight of Ilsinho w/ amazinng dribles in São paulo mames. But that was only highlights. New Cicinho??? Maybe, but I want to watch more this player. At least the guy is showing potential...

Given his lack of experience and that he has just recently made it into first team of SP, I guess he would be one for the future - at least 1-2 years from now - and not an immediate replacement for Cafu.

Both of those players don't have EU-passports.

If I am not mistaken, (somebody please re-check this), but according to footballbase.com the following players in our squad are non-EU.

Dida; Kalac; Kaladze; Simic; Kaka; Serginho; Oliveira.

The whole rule is stupid as only the countries in the European Union are not affected by this rule, and even though countries like Croatia and Ukraine ARE in Europe, their players are concidered non-EU.
Kalac on the other hand should have a EU-passport because of his family. I think they are from Croatia.

I also read on a Real Madrid forum (went on one after the whole Gago,Marcelo,Higuain hype) that Gago will have an Italian passport because of his grandparents somwhere around April. No idea how accurate this is.

Kalac and Cafu will probably left AC at the end of the season also Dida ( what i read he has no intention to extend his contract ) so I guess we can sign more then one non EU player in the summer??

As i know, no matter of how many non-eu will leave from milan,an italian club can only buy 1 non-eu per season!
