Carlo Ancelotti couldn’t restore Milan to winning ways, but he was happy with the performance at the Stadio Franchi.

“We played well and, due to our errors, went 2-1 down, but the team reacted well and was able to bring home a deserved point that boosts morale.”

The Rossoneri had opened the scoring after just four minutes with Alberto Gilardino, but needed the striker to complete his brace in the final minute to secure a 2-2 draw at Fiorentina.

“The lads approached the game in the right spirit. Our only mistake was the counter-attack on which Adrian Mutu scored. We are improving, though, and that is a good sign.”

Milan have won just one of their last eight Serie A games and could be left even further behind the European places at the end of this weekend.

The best news from this match was the return of Gilardino, who broke his goal drought with two strikes at the Stadio Franchi.

“It started well, then we ended up behind. Thankfully we managed to get a point out of it,” said the former Parma man.

“This shows that Milan are still alive and kicking. We really want to prove our worth and, in terms of character and determination, this is an important signal. At this moment in time, we need the little satisfactions to boost confidence.”

The next test is the midweek round against high-flying Catania, who are pushing for a place in the top four.

“We still have a lot of areas to improve in, but we hope to do well on Wednesday. There are another two games before the Christmas break, when we can rest and work hard over 10 days to hopefully return in good shape.”

As expected. "We did well and improving". Of course is is happy becuase we were luckly to score the last minute goal. Otherwise the team will be boo off again.

I had to hear this players that are over 30 are still improving, if they are not improved ny now they never will. They should know everything by now...

Yes. Fiori is definitely better than Kalac.
Milan should now look for a good replacement for Dida as well as Kalac.
Kalac should be sent back Australia play for South Melbourne. He is just no good goalkeeper for Milan.

Just watched the highlights, and am not too sure about Kala's 'handball', didn't really seem to hit him, probably hit Luca Toni more.
A good result considering how bad we played, not what we were all wishing for though.

It's not a good performance by Milan,

The defense looked shaky all the time: Simic and Kala both were outsized by Toni, Marek's overlap cost us the 2nd goal, Cafu, he has nothing left but the smile. And Kalac? It'd be better if he put some glue on his gloves!

The midfield: Pirlo and Seedorf were completely disappeared, just see the impact that Gorky brought in the final 5mins. Thank God we have Brocchi and Rino who tirelessly chased the ball.

Kaka did show some skill but that's all. Perhaps because he didn't play as a trequartista. All in all Gila IMO is our best man on the field, fought bravely as if it's his last game.

So.....whoever was claiming that Carlo is a good coach, now in the hard tmes he can see that Carlo cant manage a team in real problem situations. Its not only about not having some players we need ( it is about that also...), but its about MANAGING and tactical preparations, and mentality and CURAGE!! Carlo has NONE OF THEM. I have to say I really hate this man for the last 4 or 5 years now. Even when we won CL he still could have done better in managing the team. He is not a perfectionist, he is just a normal serie a coach. Prandelli, Capello, Lippi, Spaletti, Trapattoni, Donadoni...all better than him.

Now Galliani......I want him out as his behaviour was nothing but an insult to all the loyal Milan fans across the world!

Our team... Kalac is not the poroblem. Kaladze can play great when he has Nesta and super Serginho beside him, not when he needs to be no.1 man.
CAFU - pleeeease go away. Thank you, you are a legend . But this man CANT RUN!!!!! Why can someone who cant run play for AC MILAN?? WHY? Whats wrong with Galliani??
SEEDORF - I was right that Clarence cant play anymore, no he cant. He hasnt been playing good football for the past 2.5 seasons or so. Too slow and doesnt seem to care on the pitch.
JANKULOVSKI - not fast enough, can only be replacement in some great team. Hasnt payed off...( but to hide their failure Braida and Galliani say he is good...bastards)
PIRLO - Whats with him? If you want to play real football, start running! If you dont want to, go away. Its not like he is super passer like Ronaldinho so he doesnt have to play defence. HE IS NOT. His crosses are bad in 80% of cases, his corners are comical! Play or dont play at all....
Gila, Gattuso,Brocchi,Kaka', Simic, Kalac all did what they were soposed to do.

We need 4 or 5 new and quality player if we want to be good, and a new coach ! Unless that happens, we will only go down. Mark my words as I've said to you guys we will lose the midfield today after I saw our lineup. Carlo is an idiot, he cant run a team like Milan. Players dont fear him, and you need to be a boss, not a players friend.... That is the truth in football. Whoever plays it knows what im talking about.

First off, this is a bad game and I think Carlo could have done better. Agree.

But saying that he can't manage it is problematic. I think he has fielded the right team today (maybe Gorky ahead of Seedorf). and did very well in the b eginning. This team is, of cousre, not as competitive if as one that had a top-form Nesta and Serginho. Aside that, this is one of the strongest we can see.

Courage: I think he has the courage to field a 4-4-1-1 when everyone is complaining that MIlan is not scoring, but not courageous enough to swtich the tactics during the seoncd half.

And, of course, his love for Seedorf.

He is everything but a good goalkeeper... He is unable to catch just one ball.

I really dont know why we dont start buying from January, so that the new players will already be settled in come next season. Because even if we buy alot of players in the sumemr they still will have to settle in, settle with the tactics, etc. Please buy some players in January. Not 1, not 2, but as much as it takes to fix this team. We dont have 1 defender that is world-class atm. Its only Maldini and Nesta, and seeing as Maldini's legs are becoming as soft as clay, I think we need to buy someone to come straight into the starting lineup. PLEASE MILAN DO SOMETHING.

BTW, this situation reminds me soooo much of Real Madrid's downfall that started in 04. I hope this doesnt last as long as them at least.

I think we can all agree that we did not play superb football tonight. But when this is said, how many chances did Fiorentina create? Did they deserve to win the match? I think not. It was a rather dull match at a difficult venue.
We can all agree to reach the 4th spot we need to get a good 6-7 match run, so let's hope it will come soon.
I also think we should stop the negative comments about Gilardino and Seedorf. Milan win and lose as a team. If Seedorf is such a poor player, why has he won so many trophies? I agree that we should have put in Gourcuff before, but he has also played 6 matches in a row after injury.. he needed a break like others...

I saw the game...Really good that we managed to draw. Gila - good job...2 very good goals. But the team played not very good, actually only Gila and Simic played well...Pirlo was worse then ever, Kaka was not good either. Kalac have been OK.
But did you guys see that Gourcuff, when serving a corner, have put the ball several sentimetres from the line..so actually the 2 goal had to be disallowed. But noone noticed .

Is it down to courage or a lack of faith in players that have been consistently under performing?

About the game Im just happy that we forced something out of the game. We havent been able to do that for while now.
