from what I understood from that translation, Barca would let Belletii leave for free eventhough his contract expires in summer of 2008 thus, opening a spot on the team for another player and saving themselves Belletti's salary.

I also would rather have players like Miguel, Alves or at least Reveilliere alongside Oddo at RB but if Belletti is indeed available for free, an Oddo and Belletti pairing at RB would not be such a dreadful combo to have after all.
plus, if Belletti proves to be a bad choice, we can always get rid of him and not lose much moneys in the process since we never paid a transfer fee for him.

your proposal would be extremely sweet, but I can't convince myself that we can get that. I believe that we will get Oddo after the game at Lazio, but Miguel? Alves? Reveilliere? All young and talented, paired up with Oddo, fighting for one position? I have a feeling that Oddo might end up sitting on the bench then. I don't think we would spent about 10M to have that happen.

In that sense, Belletti might look more reasonable, but only compared to the three "crazy" options you just mentioned. Still, I believe that it would be a luxury for us to have both. After all, Oddo is good, would cost a great deal of money; and Belletti was the scorer of the winning goal in CL final (though I am still not very fond of him) so wouldn't come cheap (salary-wise).

We should just call back Marzoratti from Empoli and see how well he does. Not to forget we still have Simic and Bonera who sometimes can help out a bit; and Brocchi and Ambrosini too.

the reason why I think we need two attacking RBs (and at least one attacking LB like Janku) is because players like Cafu, Oddo, Belletti etc have to run a lot during the game and thus spend much more energy than probably any other player on the team ... it's in the nature of their position to do so, after all.

This makes it very difficult to have such a player at 100%, or anywhere close to it, when we have to play serie A and CL games every other 3 days or so. At the beginning of the season - read first half season - it may well be fine to have one such player, as it's been the case so far at Milan, but as the season progresses, the amount of effort these players make results in them being less and less fresh, quick and reactive in their game and these things are fundamental for an attacking Right back whose purpose/task on thefield is to constantly run up and down and cover virtually the whole flank.

Having two good attacking RBs is something I have wanted to see at Milan for a long time now as there is no need to brand one of them "first-choice" and other a "reserve" ... we could simply give them equal, oralmost equal, playing time - one playing the game on Wednesday, while the other steps in on Saturday or Sunday - and thus preserve their energy in the long run of a whole season.

Also, this would allow Milan to acquire only one CD (Barzagli, Mexes or whoever we are after), in place of Maldini, as getting a second RB would "free" Bonera and Simic for their favourite roles on the field - CD.

It would indeed get a little crowded at RB but with proper management and rotation, players could be kept both fresh and happy from their contribution to the team. A big plus in making this happen would be of course Belletti being available for free, as Milan won't make this happen if we had to pay more money for another RB given that Oddo would cost us quite a bit.

his club said he could go if a good offer comes in...

whatever, here in CZ they said that we signed Belletti and that it's done..

I think that it's only rumors abots Belleti, i dont like also Oddo because he is old. I agree with Mr Bungle that Barzagli would worth to be spent money to buy him. As far as DR my dream is Dani Alves who we can buy him in summer .

We're bing linked to Ilsinho, a promising right back who plays for São Paulo. I haven't seen much, but from what I've heard he's supposed to be an attacking right back, much like Cafu. If we can get Oddo now and Ilsinho in the summer I'll be more than happy. Here's the article, its in Italian, sorry

BTW in the same article we're being linked to Pato

Ilsinho reportedly said he'll stay in Brazil at least till this summer. We might probably sign him then. Sadly what space does that leave for poor Marzoratti?

For the role of a right back we are connected with not very good players!
First Oddo then Belleti and Ilsinho an unproven player!
Oddo next year will be 31 the same for Belleti and i don't think so that they will last more from Alves or Miguel, that they will run as Alves or Miguel, and they will not Play as good as Alves or Miguel!Thats the new Milan? We are desperate to sign players from Barca they do not need them!MY GOD!Where are the quality and decent players that an aged Milan needs???
If we sign one of them for me will be a failure transfer!
Look at the big clubs they buy new and talented players and they sell us their rubbish players like Ronaldo,Cassano,Belleti......and who else!
They are joking with us!

Can't we sign someone who can actually defend too? This guy can't defend period. another pathetic potential signing by the bargain basement team.

Lets sign Zambrotta from Barclona . Belletti really sucks plus he is suited in that stupid team of Barca not for AC Milan

Haha, Zanetti will never leave us, and Inter will never let him go... So, any team in the world can dream of him...
