Barcelona sporting director Txiki Beguiristain has hit out at rumours linking the club with a move for Milan goalkeeper Dida. He said the Brazilian had never been part of the Liga title-holders' plans and that they had full confidence in Victor Valdes and Albert Jorquera.

"We are not interested in Dida and we are very unhappy about these rumours. There has never been any contact with him and he does not feature on our agenda," said Beguiristain.

Dida is out of contract at the end of the season and was linked with a Camp Nou move following a number of high-profile blunders from Valdes.

However, Beguiristain reiterated Barça's faith in the Catalan pair of Valdes and Jorquera, saying: "The pair are sensational and we are very calm about the players."

Valdes came in for particularly harsh criticism after fumbling a Craig Bellamy header over his line in the Champions League last 16 first leg defeat to Liverpool.

doesn't matter really, what concerns us is that he is not going to be a Milan player ... other than that I couldn't care less where he goes.

No, but it matters for him. I could see him ending up back in Brazil.

You'll guys kill me for saying this, but i have some strange feeling Dida will end up in Inter.
It's not logical at all to expect it, but it's a strong feeling i have.

There are many things i can't understand regarding Dida :
1. Why was he asking for higher wages ?
2. Why was he even insisting for higher wages even when Milan offered him improved contract ( even more money that Kaka gets) ?
3. Why did he refuse Milan's offer ?
4. Will he get more money elsewhere ?

I think he's angry at Milan's menagment. Could it be because they didn't meet his demands or is his ego hurt because of the constant flerting with Buffon by Galliani and co. ?

On one side we have dissapointed and angry Dida and on the other side we have the losers who'll do everything to get some ex-Milan star and feel better after Ronaldo joining their rivals.
They could even offer him the money Milan refused to offer !

You could be right Tony, maybe he will end up at Inter. It would be a shame if he did that, if he felt he wanted to 'punish' us as it were, but then if he has those feelings then i would forget all the good he's ever done for us and just see him as another player. I would hope he'd be bigger than all of that, no doubt Inter would love to get him to try and balance the Ronaldo thing, but i would hope Dida would be a better professional.

Obviously he feels he's at a stage where he needs more money and wanted more/the same amount of money as our top earners, we did offer an improved contract but he rejected it. Whatever happens it'll be an odd ending to one of our more colourful keepers.

Prehaps Dida just wants a change away from Italy??

I will remain a STAUNCH fan of Dida. Its amazing the criticism he gets!!
He has been rubbish no doubt in the last game, but one swallow doesn't make a summer. He was very good in ALL of his games before. Dida is the best shot stopper in the world ...and would have well been the best keeper...if only he could concentrate like Chech and Buffon. All the fanboys yelling out Akinfeev and Amelia should take note how much these guys are embarased when they come up against the type of opponents that Milan has to face regularly

Aki - 4Stars? Oh please, the following is taken from some comments someone made about the reality of him and the league he plays in:

'Big mistake, if you a russ league viewer will realize how mediocre keeper he is. Short, light weight and prone to flap on corners and has a knack on palming the ball rather than catching it. If yr a Moskva fan, you realize he get a very little action with the solid defence of Ignashevich, Berezutskiy and Semberas protecting him. Look at the pattern of european teams, all of them has a tall agile keeper (at least 6'4") and i'm sorry but Igor will never reach that sort of level. He's slow and i've seen him makes mistake at least once a match for my country and CSKA Moskva.'

Im not sure, personally I would prefer Amelia!

as for me taking buffon from juve is not in favour of the league balance he is also so expensive i think it is better to think about steklenberg or boruc

Nelson Dida has put the transfer gossip and controversy behind him by extending his contract until 2010, confirmed Milan.

The goalkeeper’s deal was set to expire this summer and there were strong reports he had already agreed a switch to Barcelona on a Bosman.

The situation – and his repeated refusal to renegotiate the terms – made for a tense rapport with the club, Coach and especially the fans.

However, this afternoon the Brazilian put pen to paper on a new contract tying him to Milan until June 30, 2010.

The club’s official website also reported that when Dida attended the training session, he was given a round of applause by his teammates upon hearing the news.
