UCL SF 1st Leg: Manchester United vs. Milan

Just had a fellow teacher who has never spoken to me about soccer before give me his condolences about the game....after I heard him and a couple boys talking about some ManU player. Then he says to me "Oh you're a Milan fan right?" Today happens to be a jeans day and I'm wearing a Milan tee shirt, so I told him I was proudly wearing my colors. These idiots around here who follow the EPL just b/c they think it's fashionable are really the annoying kind of fans--posers!!

YES I AM A HUGE MILAN SUPPORTER BUT IM BEING OBJECTIVE! tell me what you think!

Dida 6 - Some great saves, But terrible mistakes if he has to think about a decision he makes the wrong one, not secure at all. but amazing at the same time.
Jank - 5.5 very quiet , didnt do much wrong or much right
Maldini - 6 surprisingly made some mistakes with touches but marked well and is a calming influence on the field, pity he got injured surely this is his last season - hopefully one with a medal around his neck
Nesta - 7 again made some great challenges and a few little mistakes but solid and classy with the ball
Oddo - 6 ok ok was at fault for the onside BUT really ronaldo or giggs when they switch didnt do much damage on the right , oddo just didnt do anything attacking of notice.
Pirlo - 5.5 very quiet too that is pirlo, had a few good touches just not enough.
ambrosini - 6 played ok, was in diff places all over the pitch and yes made some clumsy challenges but thats what he is there for presence in the air and to cover defense while gattuso runs everywhere!
seedorf - 5.5 many may not agree but this man is either damn hot or damn cold he was cold tonight just too slow he needs space and time and he is a master.
gattuso - 7 yes he is the warrior some can blame him for technically not being strong but he made no mistakes tonight and runs everywhere and is our mental strength hopefully recovers in time
kaka - 9 amazing without him milan are a class below, 2 classy goals and could of had 3
gilardino - 4 im a fan of this guy BUT yep did nothing didnt even touch it, but this is gila doesnt work well in the xmas tree against high quality opposition. plays well with ronaldo

Gourcuff - NA not on for long enough
Brocchi - 4 terrible to blame for the 3rd goal , play him in serie a to rest players but leave him out of champion league final games
Bonera - 5 very shaky but this is because he really hasnt played much lately hopefully he plays against torino.

i hate premier league,
of course Serie A could learn from it, like their dedication and struggling till the last minute...

but come on, they've got no technique
if Serie A didn't suffer from the Juve and CO scandal... we would be one class abouve those *******s

Kaká just crashed that deffense, that´s what smart and creative players do with britanic deffenses, they act like robots, on the second goal Kaká proved it

Ancelotti is acting like a manager of small team, I mean that kind of team that only have less players that can decide a game

Times ago, the team turned around Kaká and Shevchenko, now just turn around Kaká

Milan have a amazing team, with all of them play together as a real team, will be easy to beat Manchester United on the next game

Anyway, was a great result and I think Milan will win with 1x0 or 2x1

Kaká is the best player of the world by so many years

This is what I don't understand. A lot of people are acting as if the Man U win is a great result for them. They gave up 2 goals at home! A 3-2 win at home is worse than a 0-0 IMO.

If they are consoling you, you should console them back. And yes I hate Prem bandwagon-jumping supporters.

This can be easily explained by psychological effect as they are compared what fcould have been vs. what it has been.

Imagine if it's 3-0 they are leading then Milan scored two late goals to make it 3-2 then it'll be very different.

But hey, all Milan players know that and they know what they are capable of / supposed to do a week from now.

Yeah, all the hype from Man Utd and EPL supporters is ludricous. They may have won the game, but conceding 2 goals at home is disastrous for them. It's amazing that they dont understand this. And it is even more amazing that they cannot see the football world outside of England.

We are AC Milan, one of the greatest clubs (IMO, the greatest ) in the world. We have won 6 European Cups. We have made it to two finals, and two semifinals in the last 5 years. Man Utd's last semi-final appearance was in 1999. Their last European Cup was in 1999. Between then and now, they have done nothing in Europe. Yet, they remain arrogant. The British press have made them odds on to win the CL this year.

Utter ignorance. We will teach them a lesson at the SS. Bring them on next week, I cant wait...

I know what you're saying hwmook. The problem is if we took control of the game and then Man Utd scored against the run of play, i.e. from a free kick or corner kick in stoppage time, then I would say it's bad luck. But when we allow them to play for 30 minutes and allowing wave after wave of attack with little or no retaliation, then we're asking for trouble. We invited them to score, and they duly obliged---that is the problem.

At 3-2 we still have a great chance, but a 2-1 victory would have been much preferred. We just have to stop making our lives difficult for ourselves.

Basicaly since the 1920's it has been a 22 englishmen "kick 'n rush" with high balls to the tall forwards game (Crouch is the archetype of those), with very fast play.

Since the late eighties only one thing has changed: there are no longer 22 englishmen playing ( especialy in the big clubs where you can for example watch Spain - France when Liverpool features Arsenal) but they still play kick 'n rush.
Boring, boring boring.

And their commentators should receive modesty pills by the dozen if something like that should exist.

The US has been so brainwashed into thinking Man U is the Holy Grail of international football. Virtually the only shirts I see are ManU, Arsenal, Barca, and Madrid - all the teams ESPN shoves down our throats. About a year and a half ago I saw some Inter and Milan stuff on a semi-regular basis, but not anymore.

I remember once seeing a Bologna FC pin on someone's lapel and the wearer was stupefied that I knew what it was.

Milan - I was very impressed with you before Maldini and Gatusso went off, Maldini is such a good defender he could play until he's 50, did he even have to make a tackle? His positioning was so good...

Gatusso was a monster in midfield as I expected.

Kaka was fantstic, the first goal would have been scored against any defence, and the second was a great finish even if the chance was created due to some truely school boy defending by evra.

So what'd you think of us?

Like Debs, Dev, Hasan, Nadir, a few others... our result at Man U is something not to be ashamed of. Frankly I think the advantage will be on our side this next time around at the San Siro. Had it been in even 2-2 or 3-3 scoreline, we'd be playing a game no one here would like to see on the 2nd leg. I not only think we will win on this 2nd leg at San Siro, but we will win BIG. I havent been wrong yet guys!


Some good deal of you as Dev has said just reek of a loser mentality. I'll have to agree with him that there are LOSERS through and through here. Just by the posts tell the good sense that Milan have to make up for such personal shortcomings. How pathetic.

Anyway... So what's it been up to Nadir? I've already called Milan the 2007 Uefa Champion's League winners! LOL! Too early or what?
