Franco Baresi

The greatest defender of ALL TIME imo. He is my 2nd favourite defender of all time, but there is no one else in the history of football, I don't think is better at defending than Franco Baresi.

My favourite defender was Alan Hansen, what a partnership Baresi-Hansen would have been.

Did you know there is even a time in the late eighties after the heysel disaster that Milan actually enquired about Hansen!.

I just wanted to let you Milan fans know that to me Baresi is the standard bearer every defender needs to reach if they want to be in that class.

I actually got to meet Franco a couple years ago. We were visiting Milan and having lunch with our buddy Angelo who works for the team. There's this place we've been to several times for lunch, just a couple blocks from 3 via Turatti. As we were awaiting our food, I glanced at the table behind us and said to Angelo, "That's Baresi, isn't it?" Angelo waited a couple minutes and then interrupted Franco and brought him over to meet "some American fans who love the team very much." He shook our hands and asked if we were enjoying the city. Very nice person!

Debs I want to go Milano with you!! It would be like a dream come true

Well, if travel ever gets cheap again, that'll be the first place we return to!! LOL! All I can say is that our two trips were a total blast b/c Angelo always had something unique planned that he would spring on us, like lunch out at Milanello! But meeting Franco was a total lark b/c Angelo had no idea that bunch of people had gone to the same place to eat. And I have to say....he was pretty impressed I recognized Franco! Heck...so was I!!!!

It's San Franco's 47 B'day today, I hope for him to have a great one

Ahhh...another great Taurus....
