Cafu Signs On

A.C. Milan announce that Marcos Cafu has signed a contract until June 30, 2008.

Sigh. He's a useful squad player though. Oh yeah, we can sell him in the summer too.

Oh come on man, I are going to have players play for us until they are fricken 45. I like Cafu but he has done his time and we should buy a younger RB. I hope we can include him in some kind of deal for a younger RB. We cant go into the next season with Cafu and Oddo as RB's again.

The last time I audibly groaned at this kind of news, Kalac had resigned.

That's the only thing I don't like about us winning decisively like against Man U; the management makes decisions with their hearts instead of their heads.

This I think was decided quite a while back. I don't mind too much, Cafu is excellent as a squad player for us and I'm sure that's why his contract was renewed.

I've mentioned this elsewhere but i don't mind Cafu staying aslong as it's as a 2nd/3rd choice right back. With Oddo's Lazio performance levels gone missing, it's questionable wether he can play a full season as first choice right back.

I would like to see Oddo & someone else battling for first choice, with Cafu as back-up. The obvious solution seems to bring in Zambrotta & Marzoratti, giving us the possibility of having a first choice left/right back (Zambrotta) and a young talent (Marzoratti). Cafu's experience, temprement and character are great things to have in our camp so these kinds of qualities are always welcome.

The only problem i see arising is if we 'stick' with by and large the same players we have now, this would get us nowhere. Despite our recent sucess in reaching the cl final, the squad still needs fresh faces.

with cafu staying, it would be only Zambrotta that we'd need, I think ... marzoratti will never come off the bench with Oddo, Zambrotta and cafu around and that's hardly what's best for him at this point in time.
I think that even if Zambro comes, cafu will still be seen as 2nd choice for RB after Oddo and will play a good number of games ... don't think they are resigning him just to make up the numbers ... he is still pretty fit and can perform well if given proper rest instead of being played every 3 days or so as it was the case last year and the first half of this season.

you don't have to be bitter for Pool losing to Fulham ... when a teams sucks, they suck and there is nothing you could do about it, so cheer up Jim
