yeah, I know, I used to read them before but stopped namely because of the usual anti-Milan bias one would find there.
this time around, however, things are so very different ... actually, even I think they went over the top in their praise for Milan

I just watched the game again and Pirlo, Ambro and Janku are indeed the top 3 for Milan when it comes to length of the distance they covered.
Pirlo had run 11399 m and both Ambro and Janku in the high 10000s.

When Gattuso was subbed, they didn't show those stats for him ... for most of the other subs, they did though - Pippo, for isntance, had covered distance in the high 8000s, I think, when he came off.

It`s worth to mention that Kaka run 10050 m. Which is impressive,by any standard

I knew Pirlo ran the most in that match, though still find it a little surprising. It goes to show precisely how hard he actually works for the team.

or maybe at around 15000m they lost count of Rino's stats and that's why they didn't show them when he was coming off.

Or satellite? They love using satellite with all those fancy shows on the pitch these days (like each team logo at the beginning of the game)... is it/

They have a number of cameras pointing to different "zones" of the pitch and then track players throughout the games. The data picked up (such as you can work out the amount a player moves based on him being tracked on camera) is stored and made viewable to those manning the system during the game.

I've actually seen a short video of the system and interface is identical to FM and PES. Like football manager they have a 2D birds eye view of the pitch with dots to represent the players and their movement during a match. The zones which players move around in most is again shown with a 2D image of the pitch with yellow highlighting the areas covered most. The less transparent the yellow is, the area that that player was in most often.

microchips was used in a practice game last yr but not again. its too expensive.


i think its a camera that is at a constant distance from the pitch..it simply measures how much the player moves and multiplies it by the scale.

They used a microchip in the player's boot when they tested it on Freddie Ljunberg a season or two ago ... though at the time i think it was more to do with his boot sponsor (nike/addidas or whoever Ljunberg is signed with) than Arsenal.

I was starting to suspect that they just made those numbers up. Now that i see pirlo's name up there, i'm gonna stick with that theory.

I guess I must be blind or something. I always have this image of gattuso and cafu tearing back at full speed, while pirlo and seedorf do the little trot backwards.

Maybe that trot covers a whole lot of distance .

I even knew that Milan would win, only a big accident could make the italian team lose this game

The only english team that can challenge Milan is Liverpool because even if the squad of this english team is weaker than the italian team, Rafael Benitez is a fantastic manager and made Liverpoool's players turn into warriors, the spanish coach just don´t win EPL because he don´t have good players to rotate him squad

But about Manchester United, those players didn´t had any change to beat Milan, Rino, Ambrosini and the others deffenders didn´t let Cristiano Ronaldo play and Seedorf, Kaká and the other attack players rape the deffence of the english team and that was quite easy

lol, Pirlo actually runs a great deal these days. Difference now is the freedom he has to move forward as he has protection of Ambro and Rino rather than just one in the past.
