This is an issue we've been discussing on and off for many years--we do tell people if they have a problem with someone, keep it off the boards and go private. However, when people come to us with messages that are full of hostility, crude comments and/or personal threats, I think we have to pay attention. Each time an issue like this comes up, it reminds me of the times when I have been a target, both here and at Xtratime. Those situations had me wondering exactly where those people got off thinking it was OK to be so rude and hateful. Obviously people feel empowered by the anonymity of being behind a computer keyboard, so add to that something called the Private Message and the empowerment is nothing short of astounding...

latest stories are that Gerrard will pick up 120,000 pounds a week when he signs this new contract (in the next few weeks). Crazy money.

IIRC Alan Hansen said that the top player at Liverpool was on 1,500 pounds per week when he was there in 1991.

The sad thing is, that it is YOU and ME, and all the other fans, who are having to fork out for these massive salaries.

I'd far rather give my tv company 5 pounds a month (not 48) for the soccer package, and see players *only* get 10,000 pounds per week.

Sorry to hear of your woes, Debs. Sadly this type of thing happens from time to time. I was hounded out of one forum (that I had posted in for many years) by a regular who kept flaming me, and wanting me to be killed....he said that he didn't care if it was by car acciedent, overdose, poisoning, or whatever.

The sad thing is, that this bloke went on to be one of the main moderators in one of the biggest Liverpool FC Forums.

I don't like such people being able to hide behind the anonymity of a computer keyboard. They don't like having a torch shone upon them and their activities. And that is their achille's heel.

The Champions League is merely a commercial vehicle. Modern football depresses me, and for me isn't shade on football from decades ago.

Football used to be about slowly building a tight cohesive team. Nowadays, with all the money in the hands of a few clubs, it is all about bringing in the latest superstars.

Yep, Milan play a different system now than they did two years ago. Essentially, man-marking rarely works nowerdays, and a solid zonal marking system similar to what we did against United is much more effective as players don't get drawn out of position so easily.

I suspect Benitez will probably use a zonal marking system against so of our key players and look to get men doubled up on them.

when Benitez started used zonal marking in England, he got a lot of stick from tv football pundits, and the media.

But it works so well, that the criticism quickly stopped.
