I wrote the names of the players who won't play in Athens. Some of them due injuries, some due losing the starting place and some because they aren't in Liverpool anymore.

Who is next??? I mean After those temporary loud mouth Celtic FC, Bayern Munich and Man Utd fans how many new Liverpool fans have registered here??? Now its time for some Liverpool fans to feel some pain

Speaking of motivations, Milan players will get 200,000 if they win the final.

However, many, if not most, of the players who will start the game in Athens get this type of money for several weeks' pay ... just as a reference point - just read today in gazzetta that Gila's salary is 250,000/month

So, doubt the money will be the main incentive for the big names coming out in Athens in less than 2 weeks' time.

i was reading this week of the Liverpool financial incentive....memory is poor, but I think it was 250,000 pounds each IIRC.

But as we know, money means nothing in such a final. One could have all the money in the world, but if your legs are tired, it won't matter.

And motivation works on various levels. I don't think these multi millionaires will be that fazed by money offers. One can only crave so many paradise villas, infinity pools and sports cars, before one loses interest in such trappings.

Wonderful point. And there in Athens Kaka, Janku, Oddo, Gila, and Gourcuff will be looking for their FIRST EVER European Coppa. Ricky, I expect, will be a Man On a Mission and not that well meaning Evangelical Christian kind either.

Yes, absolutely correct. The motivation will not primarily be money, it will instead be, for many players, all about winning their first ever European Cup.

And even beyond that, what sane person could not give of their best, when in such an environment and watched by a massive worldwide tv audience, as well as a stadium that is filled with 80 or so thousand passionate fans.

I think the major motivation for us during the second leg against Man Utd was the fans, I really do hope that we can match the Liverpool fans this time rather than them putting pressure on us and breathing down our necks.
