Massimo Ambrosini..

Couldn't find a topic on him, he had a great game against Manchester United.

Keep up the good work

---------------------------------

Milan have ended speculation over his future by extending Massimo Ambrosini’s contract until 2010.

The midfielder had been linked with a move to Fiorentina, as his current deal was set to expire at the end of next season.

However, just days after Ambrosini said he would only “sit down at the table and talk after the Champions League Final,” he has already put pen to paper.

The announcement of the extension until June 30, 2010 was given by the official Milan website this evening.

Ambrosini turns 30 on May 29 and made his Rossoneri debut back in November 1995, so this is his 11th season at the San Siro.

Beset by a series of injuries over the past two seasons, the former Cesena man’s return to fitness has been instrumental in Milan’s surge for fourth place and reaching the Champions League Final against Liverpool.

The decision to hand him a new contract comes after having signed new deals with Marcos Cafu, Ricky Kaka and Nelson Dida.

In the beggining of the season, I wasn't so sure whether we should keep him or not. I actually wanted to replace him, not because he is not good enough but because he was constantly injured and never could get into form. I couldn't see his contribution to the team after so many dissapointments and injuries, and after a few years of the same old (play a couple of games, be injured for a couple of months) I actually kind of gave up on him. However if he can stay healthy his contribution to this team is huge. It was good to renew his contract after the strong few months he has had with us and showed that he still has it in him when he is healthy.

A similar case to Seedorf. He's not played badly, but has had his career effectively ruined with injuries. However, his latest return has been by far the most positive and he's really starting to play to his capabilities. If he's fit, he is simply a massive player for us.

Nowerdays, he's controlling his temperament a lot better and is definately a leader in our squad, which is wonderful. His performance against United was argubly his best ever for me, and should now be his benchmark, to try and maintain that level of playing.

I'm pretty pleased he's signed a contract extension (even if earlier this season I said otherwise) as he looks much less fragile than before now.

I'm delighted he signed a contract extention, he's one of my favourite players, and he has contributed a lot.

Grande Massimo!

Ambro key to our passage to the final. His performance against Bayern at Munich, and at the OT and especially at the San Siro vs Man U was phenomenal. Great player and he deserves the contract extension. How many years has he been in Milan now? 11?

Not the creative type of midfielder but definitely strong both on the ground and the air. To be honest I never enjoyed his football but he has proved his presence with his vast experience over the years. He should definitely start against Liverpool along with Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf, and Kaka.

Today Massimo has a anniversary, he turns 30 years...
As you can see from my avatar, Ambro is one of my favorite players.
I respect him a lot, he's been here for a decade and he's always been trying to be useful for Milan. I'm so glad that he is healthy now and he has the opportunity to show how good he is.
Thank you for everything and keep the good work.
