I don't think the idea of Emerson being a regular in Milan is a good one. He was always slow and at 31/32 he's even slower. But you have to admit that this man gets the job done defensively. Milan needs a squad depth. You'll need at least 2 more very good Dm's to be competitive. If you have only Brocchi and injury prone Ambrosini then you'll ether find Gattuso exausted at the end of campaign or you'll suffer a lot if you let Brocchi do the job while Rino is getting a rest against the minor teams. You may dislike Emerson's way of play ( i do also) but he's still classes above Brocchi and you'll find him very useful when Milan will defend the result or when you'll play against smaller serie A teams.

Milan has a fantastic starting line-up. You should have realized by now that the substitutes can not be super stars like your starters ( that's why some of you should get on the ground and realize that you don't put Essien or Vieira on the bench to replace Gattuso). But you should have also realized that with the substitutes you have, you'll hardly be competitive everywhere, especially in a league with 38 rounds (that's why, in this case, you need someone experienced like Emerson on the bench, not Brocchi .....remember ManUtd in Manchester in last minutes and how much Brocchi's inexperience could have cost Milan).
That is why you need experienced players like Emerson who will play mostly 10-15 matches as starter and come in on 10-15 more matches as a sub.
After all , we are still talking about a player with 73 caps for the Brazilian NT, who was winning championships everywhere he went.
Your idea of bringing Emerson would be great but what I am afraid of, Emerson could play more important role than what you have written above. But actually this is a dilemma for me.

If Emerson comes, I am afraid, Ancelotti would put him in Pirlo's position and move Pirlo to the left side of the midfield area (Seedorf's postition) which means Pirlo, Emerson and Gattuso play together which also means Gourcuff WILL SIT ON THE BENCH. In my opinion, Goucuff is actually already ready to take Seedorf's position regularly but that's not what Ancelotti thought/thinks. Without Emerson in our team, there is more pressure to Ancelotti to use Gourcuff because we dont have any other attacking-oriented/creative midfielder in our squad except Gourcuff and old Seedof. So, Gourcuff would have bigger chance to play more as starting line-up next season.

But on the other side, using both Pirlo and Emerson gives a balance formation between attacking and defending (and also Seedorf/Goucuff can come in on the second half of the game) which for me, an ideal formation to use with Ronaldo in our starting line-up (the midfielders can hold/steal the ball from the opponents and also pass/deliver accurately to either Kaka or the strikers and let Kaka and Ronaldo play with the ball).

Lol, calm down. Give Emo a benefit of the doubt. Afterall, you were wrong about Ronaldo, you could be wrong about Emerson and he could prove to be useful.

As for the next in line Brazilian garbage...... Galliani did mention a 6th option attacker who is non-Eu.
Why not Julio Baptista ?
Non-Eu, plays as an attacker among other positions he covers up, Brazilian, owned by Real like many other players Milan was/is after (Ronaldo, Emerson, Cassano).
He fits perfectly

Having Emerson is great, since he will add depth to our midfield and not to mention strength and power. With that in mind, he is also someone who does dirty works on the field. I really don't see why people here do not want a player like Emerson.

It might be true that De Rossi, Diarra, or even Essien are better option, but none of them would accept a bench role and none of them are available.

But Ronaldo is whole different story, dude... you see, the man is a master at reinventing himself, he's really like an alien, or something...

What's the latest with the "Boar" ? Is he coming or no? As far as I remember, he is already non-EU. Personally, I think he would be great for our midfield, but dont know why things are not moving. Rumours have been rife since the start of the transfer season..

If the board just wants a strong man to kick the enemy's attacking midfielders and forwards butts, why not sign a young italian boar instead?

Because there can only be ONE "Boar", Nordahl---and that's the one and only, your compatriot, Emerson!!

Just kidding, I've always been for picking up young Italian women (Freudian slip), no I mean talent, but at this stage it's probably best to sign some young players and "park" them elsewhere on loan. What we need now is the finished article, who can step in during high tension CL games and perform. And at age 31, I think Emerson would do well for us.

TO be honest, Milan already has tried signing young players and let them sit on their bench but they can't perform when called upon.
Donati and Dalla Dona, both players are solid and get their jobs done, but they just could not crack the Milan lineup.
Thats also why I believe Milan starting 11 or top 15 players are pretty much set and it will take a superstar to make himself in the top 15 spots, thus Milan do need squad depth and I believe only veterans that wants to win will accept roles on the bench.

I found this on Channel 4. Enjoy.

Emerson: Come get me, Milan!
Saturday 21 July, 2007

Emerson has been told he can leave Real Madrid and the Brazilian admits he’s determined to join Milan.

“The four players I am thinking of for my midfield are Fernando Gago, Mahamadou Diarra, Ruben De la Red and Jose Luis Guti,” said new boss Bernd Schuster.

“The club knows that the door is open for Emerson to leave. Fabio Capello requested him and he is perfect for his style of play, but I have other ideas. I hope another figure arrives instead, someone more creative.”

‘Puma’ was brought to Madrid by Capello, who worked with him at both Roma and Juventus, so the future seems to be a return to Italy.

“I am ready to evaluate offers that come my way. Money is not everything in life,” Emerson told ‘Radio Gaucha’ in Brazil.

“Everything is difficult at Real Madrid. I am in the richest club in the world, but there is far more organisation at Milan.

“It all works like clockwork with the Rossoneri, both on and off the field. You never hear controversy, everyone wants to play for Milan.”

The experience in Spain has not left Emerson with a positive view of the Madrid hierarchy, who fired Capello days after winning a seemingly impossible Liga title.

“I paid the price for being one of Capello’s favourite players. I’ve never seen anything like it in my whole career.”
