So if you can't see that having 3 keepers to choose from (no matter what their skill level) is a stronger position than having 2 keepers to choose from (as i'm completely disregarding Fiori from both totals), then i don't know what to say to you other than i think you may need to take Maths 101 again!
yes, I did Jim and that's why I mentioned Fiori for not being any worse than Storari in terms of quality because if you consider Fiori to be lacking security on goal, Storary was just as insecure when he was given the chance ... and let's not forget that the coaching staff had more than enough time to study Storari so I am sure that if they didn't think he was worth keeping, then he probably wasn't.

for a 3rd keeper, Fiori is perfectly fine, he may not be young anymore but qualitywise isn;t any worse than Storari and Firori is someone who actually doesn't mind being a 3rd keeper 'cause Storari obviously did after those words of his following his move to SPain "At Milan I didn't have enough space".

And we do have enough of GKers in terms of numbers ... if a fourth keeper is needed, that's what the youth team GKers are for, it's like that in all teams.

Keeping 4 senior keepers beacuase 1 or 2 of them of them might get injured is not much of a logic anyway 'cause by that same reasoning, even 5 keepers might not be enough as 4 of them might get injured ... does that warrant us stacking up a special team of keepers?
That's excatly what makes it an emergency situation and should it arise, a new keeper, a cheap temporary solution most likely, will be found or we'll just get one of the several keepers of Storari's and Coppola's quality that we have loaned out to other teams ... which is pretty much what we did last year with Storari.

math 101 taken in the 2-3 minutes it took me to write this post, you want me to do the same with Logic 101 or not

Your best two keepers, after Dida, are both loaned out (Storari and Abbiati)
Don't listen to Zlat that Fiori is just as good as Storari. The man clearly has no idea what he's talking about - i put all my rep pts bank on this statement !!!!

thanks for seeing my point, Tony, because Jim obviously wasn't

I'm with zlatanov. Here is why -->

1) Dida is a good keeper
2) Kalac is all right
3) Fiori is fine

Basically AC Milan have found an intelligent and bright combination.

Zlat i'm talking about numbers not who's better than who, hence why i suggested you taking Math 101 as you didn't seem to think having 2 keepers was a weaker position than us having 3 keepers the season before.

I find it quite amazing that both you and Rico seem to think Fiori is a valid substitute when he's hardly ever played for us. So what are you basing his quality on when he's never been tested in real situations or for a long stretch of games?

Dida, Kalac, Storari, Fiori > Dida, Kalac, Fiori .... surely you can see that? That's all i'm saying.

My opinions on Kalac as a keeper are another discussion altogether.

but Jim, there is not enough space in the team for 4 senior keepers, that's what I've been trying to say.
From Storari's words I think it's pretty obvious that he wanted more than just be a 3rd choice, and if he was good enough to be 2nd shoice, chances he'd have gotten the spot but I think the coaching staff simply weren't impressed with him to be 2nd choice and that's what makes him not worth keeping:
1) a 3rd keeper is rarely used, and for that position Fiori is just fine
2) Storari didn't wanna be a 3rd keeper and that pretty much didn't leave Milan any choice other than let him go ... something I doubt they'd have done if he had impressed the coaches.

My point is that 3 senior keepers is what we need and that's been the practice at any club for a long time now ... if we lack something in the GK department it is not in numbers - no point in having 3 average keepers when 2 would be just as enough - but in quality, which could be fixed only if get a talanted understudy for Dida but he has to be someone who would potentially take over the first spot from the Brazilian in a 1-2 years ... what the coaching staff seems to have realized is that Storari is not someone who fits that profile.

If there is an emergency sitiation with injuries and such, then we just go out and buy another Storari-like GK for 1-2 mils as a temporary solution or we just get one of the many Gk we have loaned out to other teams but a 4th senior keeper is something we can have only in such emergencies, we can't afford to have senior kepers on stand by just in case as they would not agree to be such an emergency back up, something which Fiori doesn't mind being.

You want FOUR keepers?? Inter have 7 strikers. Is that really what we want?!?

Jaime, i agree here with Zlat. It sure is more secure to have 4 keepers but just look at the rosters of all the other teams and you'll see that none of them has 4 keepers and those who have are just adding some Primavera GK as 4th choice. Something Milan can also do if they want.

Abbiati thinks that he is good enough to be first choice keeper in a great/very good club, which he is, and it's understandable why he's loaned out. He will not accept to be a sub.

Storari.... Zlat says he would have been a 3rd keeper. I didn't follow the situation, but i think he would have been the 2nd keeper and he didn't want to accept even that position. He thinks he deserves to be a starter (dunno, maybe he had illusions that Dida will leave Milan and he'll get his spot).
Storari himself didn't want to accept the position of 3rd or maybe even 2nd keeper. That's why he left.

I know you're talking about numbers only but as Zlat told you, if you need a 4th keeper, you can easily get him from primavera.
After all, your primavera keeper is probably much better than some senior keeper who would have been willing to accept the position of 4th choice keeper.

Today, the good keepers don't want to accept the bench role. Even someone who is first choice keeper in Reggina or Empoli would rather stay there and play than go to Milan and warm the bench all the time (keepers are rarely rotated).

I know we're not allowed to discuss religion here. But to my defence I am a Son of God.

that's why we have the "Flamers' Paradise" - over there, topics not allowed in other sections of MM, can be discussed as long as things don't get out of hand

we are discussing, Jim ... Tony and I not agreeing with your points doesn't mean it is not a discussion.
It's just that you seem a little edgy today ... hope all is fine, though

Does that mean I would be allowed to open a thread about religion there without getting banned?

I guarantee all my posts there will be in Devine love.

there are a number of older threads on politics, swearing/cursing competitions, etc so I don't see why we can't have a thread on religion too
