Once again Tony is the only one talking sense.

I can't believe so many of you are saying his punishment is harsh and that Uefa have shafted us. Get a grip! We've not been shafted and not been hard done by, it's like some of you have a chip on your shoulder 'everyone's against milan' boo-hoo

Some Lithuanian player took a blatant dive against Scotland recently to try and win a penalty and Uefa gave him a 2 game ban, what made you think Dida would get off any lighter? If anything they are being consistent and possibly even lenient. Look at it this way, if Uefa seriously thought Dida was faking injury to get the match & result over turned, how many games would they have banned him for then? More than 2 that's for sure.

I also can't understand why we are appealing. Dida's made the mistake and that's unfortunate, but he has to live with the consequences. Appealing against a 2 match ban is worthless, as it won't be reduced, plus doesn't anyone else think that it makes us look a little desperate?

The Celtic punishment is ridiculous, it should have been firmer, but i'm not going to try and invent some kind of conspiracy against Milan because the Scot team got off lightly.

Dida deserve his ban, but

(Bolton News)

My thoughts exactly!
that's true too.

UEFA also settled a bad precedent by just giving a fine to Celtic, though I would have liked to see if the same measures would have been taken if the player was from a more problematic fan base country (there shouldn't be difference but I bet that had the stadium been from Italy or the Balkans things would have been different).

I am not saying it's a conspiracy. But the Celtic punishment is absurd, and I believe they should have had a harsher punishment. This whole thing makes Dida look like the only culprit, when, at the very least, they were both equally
culpable. That is a slap in the face of Milan IMO.

I initially thought the Dida punishment would have been stiffer. No complaints there on my part.

Looking at Dida's case separately, the act itself deserved a harsh punishment.
What Dida did was far more dangerous than a normal dive. By falling on the ground he didn't want to protect himself. He wanted Celtic to be punished by taking the fairly gotten win from them and giving the three points to Milan on green table. I've just visited few non-Milanfans forums and looks like everybody expected a bigger punishment for Dida.

It's crazy to say that UEFA was harsh to Milan.

But if you want to talk about Celtic's fine....oh, boy. They are giving a "nice" example. Now all the other teams can stop paying attention to security. They know they can get away with some fine. Celtic must have been punished hard for poor security and UEFA had to tell it clearly to everyone that such acts will not be tolerated.
I completely agree with you on the Celtic part of your post, not so much when you say that is crazy to say that UEFA was harsh on Milan, when 2 parts are involved on the same incident the general judgment on one punishment is closely related with the other, so to evaluate the fairness of the punishment UEFA put on Milan you must to see what the same judge (UEFA in this case) did with the other part (Celtic).
Taking in consideration that what UEFA did with Celtic is just a BIG joke, the 2 games suspension for Dida looks completely unfair and very, very harsh, what he did was wrong, but what is worse? A stupid fan getting into the field to hit (I don’t care how lightly was, still being a hit) an opposite side player or said player overreacting to that hit? Was if the guy had knife? What if next time a fan cut a player? What the hell was doing a fan on the pitch when the game was being played? How the hell they didn’t caught him? Does the stadium security (or should I say insecurity?) allowed this guy to go?

Those are the questions UEFA should be asking to Celtic, but instead they decided to focus on Dida’s act, and they are sending a very wrong message to the football world and the security on the stadiums, under their criteria Inzagui, Gilardino, Nedved, etc. should be banned for life, a dive is a dive no matter if it’s comes from a light hit from another player or a fan, and saying that what Dida wanted is the 3 points on the green table is playing a little bit like God, no one really knows what Dida was thinking when he went down, perhaps was the 3 points as you said or maybe not, maybe he was just embarrassed for his performance and wanted out of the game, maybe he was actually a little dizzy, but only him and God knows…..and that’s precisely what Celtic did, they deviate the attention of security incident by blaming Dida for the dive.

Now, I wouldn’t be so mad with UEFA for the punishment on Dida if they had being equally harsh or not harsh, whatever you want to call it, with Celtic, but no, a fine (and not a very high one by the way)? It’s just ridiculous.

Hmmm, you're 100% right again. I think i'm falling in love with your posts

If this happened in the Balkans probably the whole country would have been punished and the team would have been immediately disqualified from the competition. Something similar, but not so harsh as it would have been with the Balkan teams, would have happened if this happened in Italy.
Balkans and Italians are no victims either and they certainly ain't no angels. UEFA does have bad experiences with teams and fans from these countries so i understand why are they so harsh on them.
But the others are left off the hook and it's something i find hard to accept.

True, but this aplies to every single dive.
Why did Gilardino/Inzaghi/Vieri/Trezeguet fall in the box without being fauled? Maybe because he was hungry and he felt a little dizzy because of that, maybe because he slipped or maybe because he wanted to get an undeserved penalty for his team.

Usually, the refs or the men in UEFA try to make the most logical conclusion and they base their final desision on that. They never know for sure why did the player fall.
They concluded that Dida simulated and they probably made some conclusion why did he simulate and what did he try to get with this simulation. Based on this they gave him the 2 matches ban.
They, me , you can never know for sure why did the player fall, even though he wasn't fauled.

I don't really think it's the same, there are precedents every weekend all around the world of undeserved penalty shoots given for referees for dives, so when a player dive in the area he knows the possible outcomes, they can be given a penalty, they can get a yellow card or none of the other 2.

You know, compared with the dives in the area what happend in Glasgow doesn't happed very often on a professional league (luckily for the players), and certainly not many precedents of that on the UCL, beside the other incident involving Dida, which in that case UEFA gave the game to Milan 3-0 (I think), in an eliminatory round that Milan won anyway, there aren't many precedents of UEFA reversing the result on the pitch on a CL game for violence coming from the fans, so for Dida to know the outcome it’s not a certain thing, opposite to the dives on the area.

Bottom line, UEFA make look themselves as a joke with this, for me it’s very hard to understand how Celtic could get away with it very easily while Dida got a 2 games ban, the message they sent is a wrong one and it’s pretty obvious that they don’t measure things the same way.

Zeekay, out of curiousity.... i know it's not possible, even theoretically, but lets say Milan lose a match with Kalac at the goal.... what will you say then ?

Hahahaha, thank you. We should be happy with that, right?

Actually, Kalac is not a bad choice, he will be proud of having this chance and he was not a bad replacement last year.

The Captain is back, with him and Nesta at CL, we can have a relieved smile. AC Milan is a team that plays good when difficulty arise.

Forza Milan!!!

Then Gilardino would have gotten a life-sentence ban, and Inzaghi wouldn't even be playing football since he was at Juve (or probably earlier).

Punishment on Dida is not harsh; Assuming that this is true, I don't see how Celtic's punishment is at all fair. If they close down Celtic's stadium for 2 games, then it would be a fair and harsh punishment; and this will be the best.

Letting a person come in, slap on a person's face, and escaped with a few thousand fine? That the whole incident wouldn't occur without the fan's provocation is almost enough to close down the Celtic stadium. yet they got a small sum of fine? I don't buy it.

If you ask me how ridiculous the punishment on Celtic is, it's as ridiculous as the reason Shevchenko gives for leaving Chelsea.

it's obviously just the pressure that got onto UEFA. Nothing more. This time it's Milan that suffers, and Milan won't complain.

What's the implication? We all know it. J

I've changed my opinion completely and you ain't gonna like it

I still think Celtic got away with a light punishment, but banning them to play in empty stadium, or banning them with deducted points would have been too much.

The club will have to take reponsibilities if missiles or similar stuff are thrown on the pitch. The club will have to take responsibilities if number of fans enter the pitch and the security does nothing.
But i really don't see a logic in punishing Celtic harshly because of that man running over the field.
Look at Celtic park :
http://hoopsinparis.blog.lemonde.fr/...ka_benfica.jpg

Now, seriously, how can anyone be sure and make sure that at least one idiot who sits in the first row won't jump over the advertisments and try to touch some player ?
England has very strickt laws, but how can the country or the team make sure that some imbecile won't do what the guy in Celtic-Milan did ?
If he has some kind of weapon with him then i understand if the club is punished, but this way i'm not sure if this act deserves a harsh punishment.
How can they be sure that some Glasgow Rangers fan, dressed in Celtic colours, with an IQ below 50 won't jump over the advertisment and try to kick an opponents player ?

Your thoughts ?

If we have Nesta and Maldini playing as centre backs and a decent keeper like Kalac is at the goal then there are more chances of Nistelrooy & Inzaghi scoring from outside the penelty area than ACM losing a match The least ACM could get is a 1-1 draw. U must know that Maldini and Nesta are the best centre back in the histry of football and its almost impossible to go past them and score without the error of the keeper. d!da has prevented Maldini and Nesta from achieving the most number of cleansheets of all time as a centre-back pairing bcoz of his unbelievable shocking performances over the past few years

I guarantee u that AC Milan will not lose 9 out of 10 matches in the absense of d!da (& presence of Maldini & Nesta)
Mark my words, since u do online bettig mostly so go and bet millions online and u will come up with good I assure you! and u must remember that I predicted ACM winning the CL last season at the very beginning when every one here was scared to death form the front three of Barca (R10, Eto/o, Messi) and the performances of our defense

The bottom line is:-

with d!da -- no chance of clean sheet
without d!da -- no chance of defeat

Yeah, i know this.
But lets just say that the most impossible thing in the universe happened and Milan, with Kalac, Maldini and Nesta playing, lose a match.
What will be the reason according to you ?

You’re right in one thing, I don’t like it

A man running over the field is a serious warning, and should be treated like that, if a man can run over the field like the Glasgow idiot did it means that he could really have hurt someone, the point is no one should be able to get into the field, and they should avoid it at any cost. This is why many bad things happen, by ignoring the warnings, and that’s why UEFA role was so important, they had to set a precedent here, now any moron would jump in thinking that his club can afford a fine and that will not be any hard consequences from his act.

Now, on the stadiums, it’s really their problem, if they want to keep that proximity feeling for the fans then they must do better on making sure nobody can’t jump in, if they can’t do that they must to put a fence between them and the field, they must to figure out a way to make their stadium safer.
