drucurl's dream (4-1-2-1-2):
------------------Dida-----------------
Alves-----Bonera--------Nesta---Zambrotta
----------Ambro/Emerson/Gattuso--------
--Quaresma-------------Pirlo/Seedorf-----
--------------Kaka/Gorky-----------------
---Ronaldo/Pato---------Gila/Pippo/Aguero

Alternatively if we feel the holiday spirit we could always adopt the

Alves-----Bonera--------Nesta---Zambrotta
--------Ambro----Pirlo--Gattuso------
--Quaresma/Gorky-------------Kaka/Aguero-----
--------------Ronaldo/Gila/Pato----------

i suppose these are fantasy players as we're unlikely to buy any of them, but in the other sense they're not really 'star' names, just players i think could help us out.

Semi realistic:

Manninger,
Zapata,
Mutu,
Pandev,
Huntelaar,
Rosina,

Star names & pure fantasy:

Alves,
Aguerro,
Rosicky,
Kolo Toure,

If i was Milan's coach and if Berlu would have listened to me, then this is how i'd make my team look (as much realistic as possible)

Frey
Oddo- Nesta-Carvalho Jankulovski

Gattuso-Pirlo-Ambrosini
Kaka-Rosina
Ronaldo

Not many changes in the starting XI, but i'd add a lot of squad depth

Reserves :
GK : Abbiatti
RB : Ujfalusi ( free agent from June. Plays RB and CB)
LB : Taiwo
CB: Kaladze, Bonera
DMC : Emerson
Mid: Seedorf, Gourcuff, Srna , Simplicio
FC: Pato, Ricardo Oliveira, Inzaghi, Huntelaar

Sell or let go on free : Dida (personally i wouldn't drop him, but he became a hated man and there's no need to have someone fans dislike in the team), Cafu, Simic, Favalli, Brocchi, Gilardino (same as Dida), Kalac

Retire: Maldini

--------
1. My first choice for a new striker would have been Drogba. But he'll be 30 in few months and i doubt Chelsea would sell me both Drogba and Carvalho
That's why i'd chose another fox-in-the-box because such player is desperately needed at the time when Pippo will be 35. And even though Huntelaar is far from Drogba and far from proven, i'd take the risk.
I'd recall RO from loan because Milan really needs as much more attackers, considering how Pippo will be 35, Pato and JKH unproven yet while Ronaldo injury prone.

2. Frey will not be cheap and no quality GK would come cheap to Milan, considering your situation. Some 15m euro will do. Recall Abbiatti from loan

3. At RB i'd keep Oddo and i'll add Tomas Ujfalusi. Juve will make it harder to me to get the Czech but i'll offer him a better wage . Ujfalusi can play equally good RB and CB and is already proven in serie A. Free transfer - what's better than this ?
LB....i'll have to add more quality here. Janku is good but we'll need someone who's at least as good as he is and who is much more promising for the future. Paqual was the first one i thought of, but it will depend a lot on where will Fiorentina play next season and if they'll be willing to sell both Frey and Pasqual to me. Plus they will be angry at me for getting Ujfalusi for free . Chiellini will be close to impossible to get from Juve.
That's why i'll go with the safer option : Taye Taiwo. I've been impressed many times when i watched him. He won't come cheap but at 23 he'll be both young and experienced. In no time he'll take over Janku's place while Janku will be a very good sub.
For CB i will easily buy Carvalho who's ready for another experience. Won't be cheap nor too expensive. Direct sub for Maldini. The rest are the same in CB, plus Ujfalusi can play there if needed.

4. Brake the bank for Rosina. 20/25m will be enough and we have guaranteed quality and future. Sell Brocchi without a replacement. 4 DM's are not needed.
Seedorf and Gourcuff are on the bench and they rotate with Rosina/Kaka.
Still, 2 more midfielders are needed. One as a direct replacement for Pirlo and the other who can play on the wings. (if Oddo gets injured you have no-one to replace him attacking-wise because Ujfalusi is more of a defensive RB)
My choice : Darijo Srna to play on the wing and Fabio Simplicio from Palermo

So, i won't make drastic changes in the starting XI so there won't be many ups and downs at the begining. But the old-wood must be replaced asap.

8 new players (not counting Abbiatti) and 8 players leaving.

Frey = 15m euro
Carvalho = 15m euro
Rosina = 20m euro
Taiwo = 10m euro
Simplicio = 6m euro
Srna = 8m euro
Ujfalusi = free transfer
Huntelaar = 15m euro

Sell :
Dida, Cafu, Simic, Favalli, Kalac, Brocchi = 15m euro
Gilardino = 15m euro

Berlu will have to give me 60m euro and i'll make him a team

P.S: Galliani will have to use his connections and find an Italian grandparent for Darijo Srna. I can't buy both Srna and Taiwo and i doubt we can find Italian ancestors in Taiwo's case

It would be a DREAM to see a Trini in Milan!!

Trinidad and Tobago Striker Kenwayne Jones is earning Rave reviews in England due to his exploits with Sunderland. I know this is far fetched and that he may well amount to nothing but so far he is doing well and he has shown lots of promise for Southhampton and for TnT's national team.....he is the player who is really good at scoring half chances and is the type of player who can help win a game thought to be lost.

He is 23, strong (perhaps stronger than Yorke), FAST tall, good in the air, a decent dribbler and he has good control. He can also hit a good free-kick. He plays 2nd forward just as well as he plays alone up front.

I remember I went to this game of Trinidad vs Peru......Trinidad was down and Jones came on as a sub for Stern John and scored a free-kick in the 80th minute!! it was fantastic. He even used to be a LB when he was a kid...so I don't see him having much trouble in very desperate times being called upon to function there.

It would be a DREAM seeing another Trini do well in European Football. Dwight Yorke came to ManU in 98' at 28 years old and helped ManU win their famous treble and the league the following year afterwards. Kenwayne is currently playing with Yorke at Sunderland along with Carlos Edwards a FANTASTIC winger (also playes LB when called upon) .....he totally ripped apart Mexico in our last WC qualifier....actually Alex Ferguson was trying to get him last season......if either one of these guys puts on the red and black for Milan (because red and black are also Trinidad's national colours) it would be phenomenal

Frey will cost less than €10 million. Simplicio? He scores the odd goal but other than that he's useless. He's anonymous in most matches. There's no way anyone is paying €20 million for Rosina, he's worth about €12 million max and Huntelaar will cost at least €25 million.

Between 10 and 15, imo.
Depends on the offer and demand.
In your case, Fiorentina will try to rip you off. No way they'll sell you Frey for 10m

Knows the league, technically solid, good passes. As a sub for Pirlo he won't get to play more than 10 matches as a starter and 15 matches as a sub.
Perfect choice. Much better sub for Pirlo than Brocchi or Emerson.

You think so ?
Realistically maybe he's not worth 20 (imo, he is) but he carries the epithet "the most promising" young Italian midfielder, he was the leader of the u21, a leader of his serie A team and tipped to become the next number 10 in Italian NT.
Knowing how much Italians overpay for the best Italian talents (Gilardino) , i'll go to Italy to personally congratulate the man who'll sign Rosina for 12m.
20m is the minimum Torino will get from an Italian team if they decide to sell Rosina.

Only if he scores 40 goals in the Dutch league this season and 5 goals at the EURO.
Or if the greatest European teams enter a bidding war for him.
There were a lot of speculation about JKH replacing Trez this summer, there are still speculations that Juve bought the rights to have the first option for Huntelaar and the number circulating in the press was between 13-17m euro. That's why i chose the middle, 15m euro.

What's your solution for Milan and what would your team be for next season ?

That's not saying much! Riqueleme is a much better option and can be used as cover for both Pirlo and Kaka'.

Gilardino scored 48 goals in 2 seasons, that's why he was expensive. Rosina a very good player but in 2007 teams in Serie A don't spend €20 million on Italians. The most expensive signings of the summer were Pato, €14.6 million, Tiago and Chivu, both €13 million. The market is very, very different today then even just 2-3 years ago.

He's been linked with Chelsea, Barca, Real Madrid and Man United (though they have no money) so yes a bidding war is likely. Drenthe cost Real Madrid €14 million and he has nowhere near the pedigree of Huntelaar and plays for Feyenoord.

Yes Juventus have made no secret of the fact that they want him.

What I posted in another thread :

Recall Abbiati and Marzoratti and sign :

Frey - even though he's fat he's still an excellent goalkeeper
Domizzi and Cannavaro from Napoli
Naldo from Bremen
Morten Gamst Pederson from Blackburn
Sissoko from Liverpool
Huntelaar

I'll only address our attack and goaltending situations.

Rosina - Should have been scooped up by us and stuck in the mid-field this past summer. Take the hit financially, and bring him in before he becomes untouchable.

Alfonso Alves - Just the type of striker that Milan likes. Has a scoring touch & is Brazilian, maybe a cheaper option to Huntlaar?

Frey - Probably the best option out there right now. But I have a liking to Kasper Schmeichel from Manchester City. He's young, IMO worth the risk. But he's not going anywhere as he just signed a 4 extention.

Robinho - IMO We don't have very creative wing player...his play in the COPA America and his display against Ecuador have me believe that if put in the right circumstances and is happy...can work wonders.

Don't know how much these players would cost and we'd probably have to get rid of some non-EU players on our team to make room at least for Robinho & maybe Alves. (Is Alves close to getting his Swedish Citizenship he's been there for a while?)
These are the changes I would make in attack & goaltender.
