Club

Terrible, terrible player.
Ever since he joined us, he has looked a pale imitation of Lazio's Oddo. He cannot cross at all. Last edited by Hasan Rossonero; 23-12-2007 at 10:56. |

I think Oddo is a good player. I would give him more chances. His defensive skills are better than his attacking ones. But it's easier to learn and improve attacking skills, for a full back, rather than learning how to defend.
Oddo (with the double marking of Gattuso) nullified Cristiano Ronaldo at San Siro. Plus, i want to point out that his crosses have been not brilliant, but: 1. you have to deliver quick balls, and many times first touch, if you want to create danger in the box (which means higher chance to choke on the ball and miss them) 2. tactically, we are not a team that helps Oddo's game. We field one striker alone, and miss our 50% of striking force on crosses. There's a weak presence inside the box, and too many times the player attacks the first post, while the crosses are delivered on the farer one. We prefer to play on the central part of the field, and without a target man like Toni or Bierhoff it's better to attack from wings with low crosses. 3. sometimes, the crosses aren't wrong. it can also be the striker who does wrong movements.

he's an ok player but cafu is much better and could be a useful back-up, but not a regular, I would rather play cafu because he's more consistent than Oddo, did u see him against Shakhtar, he gave the ball straight to Brandao, even my mother would have done better than that, but he is a good full-back at times. I think Milan should show him the door in June and get a better full-back like Ilsinho from Sao Paulo, I've seen this guy play and he's a bit like cafu when he was younger.

Cafu can play that good, even because he plays one match out of 20. As simple as that. Gimme Zambrotta any time, regardless of who the other choices are.

Gila I think has an interesting issue, as he's not actually playing badly, but currently struggles with this system like Pippo. He was on fire a short while ago, and what strikes me is back then we were quite attacking (at the expense of defensive stability), pressing higher up the pitch and Gila had the support he needs rather than getting isolated. Like Pippo, he's a poacher and he can't play as a target man, he needs support and he needs others to help him get space. Gio, I must say I disagree with your comments about Brazilians defending in Serie A, well at least in Cafu's case. Personally, I think the years Cafu has spent in Serie A has helped him defensively, and he is a lot more solid than he appears. His positioning is very good (I remember a number of times he saved us defensively by taking up good positions) and he rarely gets beaten on the right. The only problem is age has caught up and he can't play regularly these days. Last edited by ACMILAN1983; 26-12-2007 at 10:10. |
