Perhaps the Gazzetta dello Sport captured the growing sense of excitement best when they described the 18-year-old Brazilian as 'having the pace and sense of goal of a young Ronaldo, the education and good character of Kaka, the flat-out speed of Thierry Henry, the personality of Romario and the on-pitch elegance of Marco Van Basten'’ -> magnificent

No, i don't think this guy is the kind of player that gets scared with big stages. In his first match with Internacional scored one or two goals. He played the WC club semifinal and final in that way...his shoulder control is something that very few youngsters would even try in trainings ( a youngster wouldn't want to look like a moron in front of his idols)...

besides that, you know how many things can go wrong... even the team is not in best shape for a youngster to get in. When kaka came milan was a well oiled maschine. Now the oil is leaking in every other game. And he never played in italy before, he didn't play a real match for a long time...

I just got too hyped over the kiddo. And it would hurt as hell seing him underperform (like ibra did at juve for instance). Well... he is better than Ibra anyday i guess so no worries for that

That is true but with the way the management has been talking, people won't treat him like an ordinary 18 year old. They'll be expecting something miraculous just because of all the talking they've done. If they didn't do all that talking, then our expectations would be much more realistic considering he's a teenager playing in a foreign country and who has just kicked off his professional career. Instead, we're expecting extraordinary performances and it's really not our fault.

If only Gila didn't suck so much and Ronaldo wasn't sidelinded 99% of the time, Pato wouldn't be so hyped and he would just be another quality Milan signing (although our latest signings have been questionable). You're also very right Mystick, Management adds the unnecesarry pressure of naming him the savior of our dismal Serie A campaign. I think it's unfair and will backfire on us if he doesn't live up to these unrealistic expectations.

One thing that's worth noting is that our management is usually well known to not forcibly put tremendous pressure on players, and especially not hype players. In almost 20 years that I've followed Milan, I have never seen the management make so many comments on the quality of a player, especially before that player has even played a competitive match for us. When considering that, I wonder why the management make so many comments on Pato.

I agree but I also have to say that Galliani is using Pato as an axcuse for not signing any decent players/forwards...

Now it looks like we may even see KAka'-Ronaldo-Pato against Napoli. Even my friends who are Juventini in here are eager to see the Duck play!

I remember a comment from Emerson, who is an experienced player: Give him 3 or 4 games to settle in, he'll do great.

But I realllly ( as we all do ) hope that Pato can play at least at level of Krkic from Barca, if not better, so we can take some pressure of Kaka' and make opponents defences play more stretched and not like when they play against Gila and then put offside trap 35m from goal as they know Gila cant get away in sprint and one-touch dribbling ( Milan-Juve ).

He was still in Brazil. He'll be in Milan when the squad returns.
