Messi and Pato the two fastest players Pato maybe...but aren't you forgetting a certain brazilian player who stole the ball from Messi and then smoked him WITH THE BALL and scored

Video Kaka burns Messi: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqmsVc4eCdM

Messi running without the ball can't keep up Kaka.

In terms of acceleration over 3 or 4 yards Pato and Ronaldo (the real one) probably have the most pace.

When your near the box and without much space then acceleration is more important than speed to get by defenders.

A friendly match? And the fact that Messi is not a defensive player mean he not gotten waste his energy running back to get the ball.

kaka and C.R are probably the other 2 players that can run almost as fast.

Speaking about Giggsy, he attracted attention too when he first hit the football scene. And he was just 17-18 then. But Fergie deliberately protected him from the press, and thus releasing him from the overexposure and hype that can burden him too much. And we all know the rest, he's been playing succesfully at the highest level for over a decade now.

Couple of days ago Seedorf said that Milan should begin to protect Pato more. Kaka advised the same, he said that being famous at the age of 17 could draw good friends as well as bad ones.

What do you guys think about this issue? Should Milan protect Pato the way Fergie protected Giggsy years ago?

In my opinion Pato's case here is different. Fergie can hide Giggs from publicity just because he has a teammate with relatively same age such as Beckham,Scholes,Neville brothers. So public and press attention will devide to those players.

Meanwhile Pato is the youngest member right now on the Milan main squad. Perhaps if Milan sign or have another young stars Pato publicity will not much as right now.

Not true, Messi was running to catch Kaka' in there but simply couldnt, and that without the ball! Look at the video again, Kaka' is simply mfaster and that's it. Even in regular games, KAka' makes longer runs then Messi and palys oftenly from his own half of the field...

my point about the Croyff wasnt that Cruyff isnt a legend, it was how Messi was compared to Maradona ( TRE legend alongside Pele ), and Maradona and Pele were no.10. Since Messi isnt no.10 kind of a player, you cant compare him to MAradona's stile of play. Maradona, Pele, Zidane are above Cruyff, I have to say, in my oppinion.

Good news: Alexandre is already working in the sand in Milanello. This is the test of the tests for the players before starting to train with the group. I think he will be fully recovered before Arsenal, maybe even for the game v Parma.

I agree. We have to end this romance with Dutch football and their poetic ability to self-destruct. Cruyff's cerebral approach to football was revolutionary, but on the field Pele, Maradona, and Zidane > Cruyff.

Messi simply cannot be compared to Zidane, Ronaldo at his current level. He can't even be compared to Rui costa in top form. That kid still has somewhere to go, he is a pacey winger who give a lot of troubles to opponents but no way can he exert the kind of influence players like Zidane did.

He can be a legend someday but on his current level? No way. He need to add another dimension to his game. Just like kaka is an fantastic player but haven't took his game up to another level that we can call his a legend.

If you guys need examples of how legends should be, look at Pirlo in WC2006. If Pirlo play like that for every game, he would be a legend worthy of taking on Maradonna. Pirlo to me is simply the most important player in Milan. Maybe i shouldn't put it this way but i would rather have kaka out of the arsenal games than Pirlo.

Pato is a good player with very good potential. When he just joined us, i started a thread on another forums questioning the hype around him. But he has exceed my expectations and show his talents. He definitely has the potential to be one of the best in the world. For one, Messi greatest asset is its pace and Pato has that as well. Messi and Pato are simply the 2 fastest players in the game now. Give the man some time, Pato still has a lot to show and prove.

Messi is maturing every year, and I think he will be the best player in the world in two years.

And Messi can be compared to C. Ronaldo. Messi has done the business for Barcelona consistently, even if his goal tally isn't as impressive as Ronaldo's.

Both Pato and Messi can improve as they are young, but to say that you can't compare Messi to Ronaldo is risible.

I don't think hitmannq8 is smoking anything. He is giving you his opinion, and a lot would agree.

And why don't you compare Pato and Messi and what they've done when they were the same age ?
Actually, you guys are doing this but you're only taking the facts that suit you while you're forgetting 1 thing..............

.................Messi single handedly won the World Cup for u-20 players when he wasn't even 18 while Pato did almost nothing at the same level and at the same age.

I did not watch these two world cups so I am not going to talk about them but I will talk about the idea of participating in the world cup failing to impress in the world cup doesn’t mean that the team or a certain player is rubbish and also impressive performance in the world cup is not the only way to evaluate a team or a player and I am counting here on the last world cup (Brazil) with all of Kaka, Ronalinhio, Ronaldo, Dida, Ze Roberto,Juninho and co in one team and failing to impress does not mean that these players are average because after this championship Kaka won the Ballon d’ore and Junihio had an impressive season with Lyon and both Robiho, Juan and Lucio became stars, so if Pato failed to won the world cup single handedly while Messi was able to,it will not mean any thing plus I can say the world cup won by Messi is easier than the One Lost by Pato, see very easy .
