I like this match, though the result is not good. However, I think it'll make the spirit higher. We played our best and Livorno's goal is a beautiful one.

Forza Milan!!!

Ronaldo suffers serious injury

Ronaldo has been stretchered off in tears after sustaining what could be a very serious left knee injury.

The Brazilian had only been on the field for three minutes in Milan’s rescheduled Week 16 match with Livorno when he collapsed in the box.

The referee awarded a penalty for Jose Luis Vidigal’s handball – later converted by Andrea Pirlo to equalise from Nico Pulzetti’s effort – but all attention was on Ronaldo.

He was stretchered off screaming and crying in agony, clutching his left knee, and initial reports suggest it is a very serious injury to the tendons.

The fall was not entirely dissimilar to the April 12, 2000 collapse that happened minutes after his comeback for Inter against Lazio.

That kept him out for almost another year and with the recent rumours Ronaldo is considering retirement, there are fears another setback could force Il Fenomeno out of football.

The player has been immediately rushed to a local hospital for tests, accompanied in the ambulance by Milan director Leonardo.

It is just the latest in a series of disastrous injuries that have struck Ronaldo. The first was on November 21, 1998 when he partially tore the tendon in his right knee during Inter-Lecce.

He underwent surgery and returned on April 12, 2000 in the Coppa Italia Final against Lazio, but within six minutes the same knee visibly buckled without challenge and this time the tendon was completely severed.

Another operation kept him out of action for almost a year and he was declared “clinically healed” on March 8, 2001.

He had a number of muscular problems on the road to match fitness and switched to Real Madrid in June 2002, but here too had setbacks and was out for three months after straining ligaments in his left leg in 2005.

In Ronaldo’s first six months at Milan he scored seven goals in 14 games, but has barely set foot on the pitch since the summer due to a series of muscular injuries.

This means end of Ronaldo's career. I'm very sorry for him.

well, i believe gorcouff played well, considering that we were almost playing second string team, and 11 defenders and not one good crosser, i don't know why ancelotti didn't play marek, he is surly better than favalli, and oddo is really bad crosser, i mean this guy is no good, he is 31, he is playing as RB for more than 10 years, but still can't open his eyes and make a good pass??, we need danial alves, this guy is really what we are lacking in the right front, as for the attack, as much as i hate to say this, but ronaldo is finished, that is a fact, this guy can't touch air without being injured, we can't rely on him for another season, and that goes for gila, who never seems to deliever when he is well monitored, i believe we need another stiker, hopfully someone younger than drogba, with pippo charactrestics, anyway considering the circumstances the result is not as bad as it seems, it could have been worst, but the fact remains, serginho, gila, ronaldo, oddo, brocchi, cafu is a must go next season.

I feel gutted for Ronaldo, for this is surely going to force him to retire. There's always a chance he may play again in a year or two in Brazil, but even that seems a slim possibility.

If it is the end, it's incredibly unfortunate and it's a shame he never got to fulfill his potential in the latter stages of his footballing career.

Unluckily his weight and fitness has taken a huge part in this injury, as Doctor Volpi is suggesting on italian tv.

Official - Ronaldo tendon severed Wednesday 13 February, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan have now confirmed Ronaldo has completely severed the tendon in his left knee, effectively ending his career.

The striker collapsed as he jumped to reach a cross during tonight’s 1-1 draw with Livorno and immediately the situation seemed to be serious.

His teammates waved for medical staff and called for a substitution as he was stretchered off the field in tears.

Ronaldo was rushed to a local hospital to undergo tests and initial reports suggesting he had completely severed the tendon were confirmed on the official Rossoneri website.

Ronnie has already suffered this type of injury twice before in 1998 and 2000, but that was in his right knee.

As there was talk of a possible retirement at the end of this season, if the diagnosis is confirmed then it is likely Ronaldo’s career is over.

----------
I'm shocked. Even though he played for my team's rivals he was still one of my favourite players.
The greatest forward in last decade and the greatest football player together with Zidane during this time period.
I really hope some day he'll continue playing, even if it's somewhere in Brasil.

Oh no, after Van Basten, another great striker retires because of injury. How could it be so unlucky for him, for Milan and for all of us.

Honestly: Who screwed him up physically? Inter? Real?

Or simply because he is just prone to injury?
