Arsenal-Milan CL Round of 16 Leg 1

Inzaghi is a very lucky guy, he also has the knowledge of beeing at the right place in the right time. I think these are the reasons why he scores so much in the important matches. Lets be real Inzaghi is a player that cant drible, cant run past the defenders, he is not a strong target man, his heading is not the best but the most important thing is that he always somehow scors.
Gila is not any better, basically just a cloned Inzaghi. Gila my have little bit better heading and my be stronger.

Having said this I think it really doesnt matter who starts, if we are going to play just one striker up front ( ofcourse not counting Seedorf and Kaka as fowards). I personally would start with Gila to give a little hosle to the Arsenal defence, then put in Pippo when they tire a little bit. I would not put in Pato (would risk him), I may put him in if the result was something like 3:0 and we really needed a goal.

Gila will fight with their backline in the first half, and then Pato or Inzaghi will come and try to fool their offside trap.

As long as I've seen milan matches in UCL, Pippo was always brilliant when played since 1st minute. And for such important game like this, if Pato's not fit, I guess Carletto will choose him over Gila.

Yes, Gila could be a great sparring partner for both Toure and Gallas in Arsenal backline. But in this away match, clearly Carletto won't play pressing football and push forward since 1st minute.
I dare to bet you that Carletto will play with patient, zone marking, deep in backline, hold the ball longer when in posession then looking for sporadic counter attack.

Btw, if Pato's fit, I hope coach play him over Pippo and Gila

I agree with your assesment, Peachtot, and I also agree that we can start Pato over Pippo or Gila if he is fit. However, notice also that Arsenal may be able to push a little bit further given that Pato is not a box-only person. With 2 strikers, however, Arsenal will have to be more careful with their backline.

Having said, I think you are right that a 4-3-2-1 is in place, with either Inzaghi or Gila starting from the first minute (and sub each other depending on who starts).

Ze wenger may be watching Kaka carefully, but I'll be putting my hopes at the feet of one Andrea Pirlo. When he clicks, everyone in midfield clicks. And wow, our CL lineup is identical to the one from last season. Old they may be, but a winning formula, that you can't deny.

A good team performance is enough for me. Can't wait till kick off!

Last week when Milan played Siena one of Oddo's crosses, somewhere over Brescia, hit another ball in the air, that was later proven to be one of the balls Molinaro crossed on Udinese-Juve, played at the same time.

why you called "dare" if wenger use 4-5-1 pattern.
For most people minded, it would be more courageous, if a coach prefer a more offensive pattern like 4-4-2 one which use 2 offensive midfielders rosicky & hleb ?

I reccomend this for anyone that is in the US. It is exceptional quality video, it works great for me and they have some kind of a deal with SerieA.tv so they show Serie A and from what I can see, they show all of Milan's games because all of Milan's games have been on there since i found out about the program about a month ago.

Oh my god...Carlo has done it AGAIN... when I saw Pippo from the start in PArma I thought: " this is not good..."

in the super important CL game, away against Arsenal he will play Gila, who is completely useless forward and - SLOW. And he played Pippo at Parma who is a super forward for big games, who moves brilliantly. and a player that every defence hates to play against... HOW THE HELL DID ANCELOTTI COME UP WITH THAT IDEA??? And dont say: crosse.... as we dont cross at all!!! Im pi....ed off right now!

And Marek is now doing a special training in Milanello and now working with the group, so it could be MAldini on the left, wqhich is also bad solution... ahhh....again with super ideas from our coach...

I know that what I am going to say may cause a storm here and all of you will scream at my face, however, I will say it any way, Playing Gila and benching Pippo is a mistake, but not as terrible as playing Paolo as a LB and Kala as a CB, if Maldini play in London then he must be the CB and Kala be the LB other wise Arsenal will destroy us, Don't get me wrong I know that Maldini is still a great player and also my favourite player and will always be, but playing him on the left will be sucide exactly like asking Arsenal to open a street on Milan left side, So in my opinion it wont make any good for both Milan or Paolo.
Also I have to say that I am 100% sure that carlo will field all of Bonera Nesta Kala Paolo which is also another mistake because Oddo is much faster than Bonera even though he stills useless.

Gila spearheading our attack is a correct choice since we are playing in Emirates. Tactically, he is the one to hold on to the ball to get our mid involved. Pato will come in as a sub later on. that's for sure.

It seems that Sagna and Almunia will play tomorrow, but there are still doubts about Clichy, and Rosicky will not play. I think the Arsenal team will be:

………... Adebayor
Hleb Fabregas Flamini Eboue
………… Gilberto
Clichy Gallas Toure Sagna
………... Almunia

Of course it is very possible that Arsené will opt for a 4-4-2 with Eduardo next to Adebayor, but my hunch is that Gilberto will start. Rosicky and van Persie being injured is a big blow to the team, but Sagna being available is a big plus. I think it will be a very cagey game and I don’t see there being many goals – no more than 1 goal per team, if that.

Looking forward to it anyway, I’m nervous, but it should be a fascinating game. Milan are a team that I love to watch play, but hopefully they’ll have an off day tomorrow!

i know 4-4-2 will displays an offensive pattern and 4-5-1 is for defensive one.but as far as i know Wenger never likes the 4-5-1 pattern.specially when Gunners has to plays in Emirates.their character is playing offensively.that's why i said "dare" which is meant that Wenger will always follows their typical game and doesn't has the courage to plays the opposite.the journey to CL final few years ago was an exception.
