If Amauri hadn't been injured last year, he would have score many goals and perhaps we should have bought him, but with his injury, I think the guy is finished, he doesn't have the same level right now that he had before it ...

For Gila, I read 2 news these last days: Gila saying he will stay in Milan still for many years, and Galliani saying that Milan still has confidence in him and wants him to stay ...

Sheva said he will return to Milan and there is rumors saying he would search a house in Milan ... I hope it's false.

Had you ever heard of Kaka when he came? He was already a hell of a player, and so is Alex. He held together the defense that conceded the least goals in the brazilian league. He has two national team caps, he's young and he's strong and tall at 1,92m. And since his contract is expiring, it's probably a bargain. If the team is spending less is some of the much needed positions, we might be able to splash some more for someone like Benzema.

If this guy really signs in Milan (no official news), ok but that will mean:
- an ex-EU leaving and then we can buy another ex-EU (Drogba for example)
- no ex-EU leaving and so we can stop thinking about Drogba, Eto'o or other good players from Brazil or Africa

Word!! I have a gut feeling that we are in for yet another disappointing mercato period over the summer, so I really hope Galliani and co. prove me wrong

Yes i had heard of Kaka before he came here.

Just because this Alex is apparently a good player in Brazil doesn't mean that he'll come to Europe and be anywhere near as good for us. Every season there are at least 5 'must have' prodigies in South America and over half of them fail to do anything. So what if he has 2 caps for Brazil, that means nothing.

Is he as good as Zapata or Kompany? Is he proven against good players? The answer to both questions is no. Right now, if this move is true, it's just another cheap way to bolster the squad and hope he turns into another 'gem' of a player.

Yeah, I had forgotten how strikers got an extra leg in Europe.

How the heck can you say he's not as good as Zapata and Kompany if you have never seen him before? And what do you mean by proven against good players? Is playing against Flamengo, Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Palmeiras, Fluminense, Botafogo, Santos, Vasco, Gremio and Internacional easier than playing against Cagliari, Reggina, Siena, Livorno and Catania? Alex is not a prodigy or a huge bet, just a young and solid central defender from one of the biggest clubs in South America, probably coming for a bargain by the end of his contract.

This is not Senegal we're talking about, not just a country from which a couple of gems break through every year in the european scene. The brazilian league is one of the most competitive in the world, and alongside the argentinean it has claims over most of the european leagues.

this would be a huge stereotype coming out of my mouth, but I would say that Brazilians are better in attack than Europeans (on average) and worse in defense (on average).
I don't have any research to support that, just my observations of the transfer market and the last World Cup.

Well if strikers in Europe have a 3rd leg then strikers in Brazil must have 1 because the amount of times they fall over is embaressing to say the least. The number of stopages in Brazilian football is a joke and i've seen enough matchs to know this for a fact.

You're talking nonsense if you think you can compare the Brazilian league to either the Bundesliga or Serie A. The calibre of opposition that Zapata & Kompany face week in week out is by & large greater than that of the people Alex faces. Lets also not forget that Kompany already has quite a bit of CL experience, so while i think Alex could be a solid player, right now he's not in the league of Zapata or Kompany.

You said yourself that he's just a solid player, so why should we get him when there are better players available who are just as young but have greater experience and potential? I fail to see how a player who's coming back from injury in a league that isn't reknowned for its defending can be compared to 1 of the best defensive prospects in Serie A.

You can argue for him all you like, but there's nothing about him that suggests he'll be good for us or that he's the calibre of player we should be aiming at.

That's coming from the guy who has never seen him before, while I see him week in and week out. You think it's nonsense to compare the bundesliga with the brasileirão, but most of the times teams from both leagues play against each other the brazilian team wins. There are 13 (thirteen) powerhouses in the brazilian league, while there are 2 or 3 teams battling for the bundesliga. Being one of the main responsibles for the best defense in the brazilian league is not a small accomplishment. You say that the brasileirão isn't reknowed for it's defending, but the truth is that it isn't reknowed for anything at all, as you euron00bs have no idea about what's going on down here. Suffering 19 goals in 38 games in the brasileirão - I repeat - IS NOT a small accomplishment, and only a few teams in the brazilian football history can boast stats like these.

If you really think teams like Nürnberg and Rostock are way better than the brazilian teams, I can't do nothing, you're a lost case.

I totally agree with what you are saying. This signing is nothing but another cheap way to fill up the numbers. This move reminds me of how the management was publicly telling everyone that Digao is the new Nesta. That statement was a joke then and it is an even bigger joke now.

I don't get to watch too many Brazilian league where I live but I know for a fact that Brazil doesn't have a very good track record in producing world class defenders. The only three defenders I can remember coming out of Brazil who can probably start for this team are Lucio, Juan and Alex of Chelsea. And this Alex Silva to be selected for national team isn't really saying much either because if we can all remember Junior used to be the captain of the Brazillian national team. But in Europe, he couldn't even start for Leverkusen. I am not completely opposed to signing this kid if he is just one of the guys we want to hang onto and see if he can turn into a star, but to waste our one and only precious non euro player allowance on him instead of bringing in some real players with it is simply inexcusable.

P.S: to support your point about Kaka, let's not forget that many of the biggest European clubs wanted to sign him before we did. Chelsea and Real Madrid almost had him signed but for various reasons the deal didn't go through. This Alex Silva is unknown to pretty much everyone.

kulspruta,
i won't deny that i don't know s*** about Brazilian league,
but which league is better is not the topic of my discussion.
I know that there are good Brazilian teams, club world cup showed that.

I never said that Brazilian teams suck either, don't know where you got that from.
Anyway, my point was, if a player moves from one league to another he will not always do well, even if he played well at home. And it doesn't matter if you come from Brazil to Italy, or from Germany to Italy. Those leagues are completely different, and player has to adjust. Sometimes players are just incapable of that. Good example is how Sheva can't play in Chelsea. I don't think he became worse. I think that England isn't his place to play.
That's the bottom line.
