I am usually no pessimist but this is probably the 3rd(?) year in a row that we will most likely have yet another disappointing mercato.
I have given up hope long ago. With the conservative minds of Galliani, Braida and co on board we will never have a revolution. They have lost it a long time ago, they are no longer dominant on the market and therefore they simply cannot sign players. It's not that they don't want to, they just can't do it anymore. Nobody wants to deal with Galliani anyway. (Zamparini,Lotito,..)
The only one who is able to pull off a few transfers is Leo but I guess you guys already knew that...

It may sound harsh but I'd get used to the fact that Milan willl be a mediocre team for the next few years.

Eboue is a decent player, fast, strong and technically sound (with a few tricks up his sleeve to take on opponents). Defensively, I'd say he's solid but nothing outstanding (Sagna is better defensively for sure, which is why I think Arsene prefers him at RB), whilst offensively he's pretty good, but needs to work on aspects of the service he provides, but that said, he surely can't be worse than Oddo and Janku this season. He would definitely add a more athletic option in our side.

His biggest problem for me is his aggressive nature (attitude on pitch, which quite simply, is awful) and discipline during matches. He argues and fouls more than he should when defending and his theatrics are well known. More than anything, this could be the factor that would stop him coming Milan.

Potentially he could be very good, but definitely wouldn’t be my first choice fullback (right now Zambro and Vargas are my dream fullback signings).

I think Bonera has a point. Up until now we've almost only discussed which players will arrive during the summer. But who will leave? Probably some of the so-called star-players we have will think about leaving if we can't qualify for next years Champions League... If available, I guess there would be a lot of suitors for players like Nesta, Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaká and Pato and so on.

http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=646487

And also, would players like Ronaldinho, Drogba and whoever we're interested in want to join a team that will not compete in the CL? Probably not...

goal.com is suggesting that Donadoni might come to Milan. My question is ...is it as a player or a manager?

I just think that because of the poor bench we have, the first team players have almost no competition to be on the pitch (it's the case for Nesta-Pirlo-Gattuso-Ambro-Kaka-Gila) and as a consequence, they have no pressure to play. Some people could say it is good, but this kind of pressure (the one coming from competition between players to be in the first team) is a good pressure for players: they have to do well, but not only, they also have to do better and better through the year or they get replaced.
Well, isn't it something about motivation problem? Your place in the starting eleven is guaranteed even when you're playing like an amateur?

  • we need cm/dm (i want flamini)
  • we need AM(seedorf is getting too old)
  • i want Quaresma
  • and we need two strikers, (with Gila out, and Fat Ron out, we actually only have Pato and Paloschi)
As you said, that's far too many to get in one summer. In the long term I would agree with those positions you targeted. One thing we don't want to do is spend lots of money on lots of players - because invariably they end up being cheap, rubbish buys which won't help us improve on this dismal season. You spend lots of money on a few players - ensuring they're all of the required quality.

Yup I agree 100% that's why i said we could do very well with just THREE signings Alves, Quaresma and Aguero/Gomez

I am saddened and irritated by people trying to do Milan's financial work and saying "I really like player X but he is too expensive for us so I'll go with player Y who isn't as good but waaaay cheaper" My brothers, Galliani has gotten to you :V46:

Milan is one of the few clubs that actually made a profit last year.....The profit might not be substantial...but guess what? IT MEANS THAT ALL THE INVESTMENTS MADE ON THE CLUB HAVE PAID DIVIDENDS AND THAT ALL THE MONEY IS THERE FOR RE-INVESTMENT!!!!

So this season more than ever- we need to splash a little bit. Hence we need the BEST in their relative positions or at the barest minimum the most talented prospects out there.

Quaresma is THE best winger in the world after CR7. Some even say he is better. I'm not going there. He has everything: speed, skills, dead ball ability, two footed, and can play either wing. HE is not a luxury. HE shouldn't be viewed as a dream signing. He is a necessity.

Alves (same as above. Oddo isn't good enough to be starting material, unless we have a heavy defensive burden on the right, e.g. a winger powerhouse like CR7. Other than that he flatters to deceive as a modern wingback in terms of his attacking ability). Alves is most probably going to Barca so we might have to go for Rathino....who seems to be as good but is a bit of a lightweight.

Gomez/Aguero- two of the best young strikers in the world. Aguero moves exactly like Ronaldo. His only downside is that he is similar to Pato in style and would be almost useless when the defense parks the bus. However given the rapid progression of his game....he could well develop into a maradonna-like forward....then he will be truly unstoppable. Gomez looks all set to be a SerieA striker....he isn't that fast but looks to be strong and a clinical finisher (almost like Gila in Parma). You can't push him around and if you push him too hard we'll end up with a free kick or penalty.

Im a little diussapointed that you people dont see Benzema as the bst possible solution for our attack.

Toni is 31 and aldough he is a clinical striker and italian - HE IS 31. Injuries will soon be here and so on...

Drogba - same as toni. But with injuries already.

Gomes - toni and Drogba are better players then him. and so on...

Benzema is a player that will be on a level of Henry or Shevchenko and is now 20 years old. Take a look at this guy play and if you dont fall in love with the way he plays his attacking football, then I dont understand a thing. THE BEST POSSIBLE MERCATO MOVE FOR MILAN. Attacking wise of course.

And, keep in mind, that we will start the next season with ONE decent forward - Pato.
inzaghi will again be injured for 6 months and he will be 35! gila will leave, while Ronaldo is not a player anymore. Paloschi is 18 and not as good as Pato is.
