Milan fans say no to Sheva Sunday 6 April, 2008

Milan’s supporters staged a protest last night criticising the club’s transfer policy and the possible return of Andriy Shevchenko.


The Ultra group Old Clan handed out leaflets to the crowd in and around the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Cagliari.


It contained a list of seven complaints to the club after general manager Adriano Galliani pointed out the fans should not criticise Milan considering the last 20 years of silverware.


“The President is absent and no longer has the motivation or the desire to invest that he did before,” was among the leaflet’s statements.


“The only smart signing of the past three years has been Alexandre Pato. Enough of players on the downward slope of their careers and continual fitness problems.


“Ariedo Braida spent two weeks in South America scouting for talent and returned with the disappointing Leandro Grimi.


“The many season ticket holders have been taken for a ride by broken promises, a squad that is not up to the standard of Milan with great stars who instead joined the opposition.”


The most forceful point was made against the possible return from Chelsea of former crowd favourite Shevchenko.


“We absolutely rule out Shevchenko, who is 32 and would fill the only non-EU slot, preventing Milan from signing a younger and better player.”


In Italy clubs can only sign one non-EU player from a foreign League per season.

We don't need Dinho! For what position Silvio is intending him to sign? We need especially, who are still young and hungry for big victories, especially since wie should to replace almost 6-8 or even 10 players. I think about Dida, Kalac, Fiori, Simic, Serginho, Cafo, Emerson, Ba, Brocchi, Ronaldo... By signing Dinho, our financial capabilities would be reduced, du to just a symbol of having siigned a great player - a player, wie don't need!

With Sheva, it would be the same. To old and due to his salary too expensive.

Dinho is still young, Milan's 'atmostphere' can change that lazy ass of his, I hope!...I won't mind having him..I don't mind having Sheva back either *run n hide* :p

hopefully its a joke. I live in the Uk and ive never heard of him. I usually base things on that, if they havent made a impact big enough that i am aware of them, then they arent exactly suited to Milan. I never heard of Oliviera, grimi before they came to us.

McCartney is a good young left-back and a decent player, but i don't think he'd be good enough for us at all. This has come out of nowhere and is just Sunday gossip. In the last few lines of the article it says "Milan have a solid relationship with West Ham" and this is because of their new Italian director who used to be at Brescia. So unless he had some former link to Milan, why do we have a solid link to West Ham? Is it just because the guy is Italian?

Ronaldinho for £16 million is, for me at least, a bargain. People will say he's on the decline, well that could be due to a number of reasons, i should imagine the Barcelona environment he finds himself in isn't helping, a change of scenery could do him good. Lets take Crespo for example, i thought he was a spent player and look how we worked hard with him and helped him rediscover some his form.

Lets also look at this financially. Someone in here seemed to dismiss this side of things which is ignorant on their part. A couple of years ago Ronaldinho was the number 1 player in terms of generated revenue/image rights, this is fact. I don't know off hand if he's currently still top, at the very least he'd be second. The point is we'd probably make £16 million back in shirt sales within 2 seasons at the most. With this in mind he'd be no risk at all financially and we'd only have to pay for his wages. If he was with us for 4 years, not to mention what would happen if he rediscovered his form and won major honours with us/Brazil to further boost his popularity, he would have surely paid for both his transfer fee and wages in that time and probably even made us money.

And Chelsea have a big advantage here.

Don;t think he'd want to go to chelski. Milan I think would hold more sway for him than any other club.

In the past he stated that he doesn't want to go to Chelsea...

Financial capabilities, we will miss for more important tranfers, especially in our defense... I already listed all the players that should leave us in the summer and so have to be replaced. I'm afraid of us to sign only a symbol like Dinho and overagered crap, that only wants to retire with a high salary.

If you want to talk about people being paid based on performance then a lot of players' wages in our team would have to be cut, including Kaka who got a new contract while not playing well. Yes Ronaldinho isn't having a good season this year but there has been a lot to influence that like the harsh fans amongst other things. Our midfield is slow and predictable at the moment and Ronaldinho would be a good purchase IMO in terms of creating chances for our strikers., while scoring plenty himself. He would be played in his preferred support striker position with Kaka as CAM and Seedorf on the bench hopefully .

EDIT: Huntelaar scored a hat trick (so far) today but I wouldn't go for him if we're getting Ronaldinho. There would be 3 spaces to split among Kaka, Ronaldinho, Pato and Huntelaar and I don't think any would appreciate bench duty. Also before we buy a player like Huntelaar, we have to get a midfielder or two than can actually break down defenses and do it consistently as Huntelaar isn't the player to create chances for himself.

Bottom line: if we buy Ronaldinho, it's highly unlikely we'll sign any other major striker as Ronnie will be pretty much guaranteed that support striker role next to Pato.

If yes, why not? Players seem to be so lazy when they already paid million pounds. The difference with Kaka, Ronaldinho is now a crap, Kaka is only tired as you can see from last match.

Not only this year mate. He has been playing badly since last season and the worst is in this season.

I absolutely agree IF Ronaldinho can get his old performance back. We will gamble with a lot of money for his wages. I just dont want another Rivaldo.

I haven't thought about financially things that Ronaldinho could give us. If he's still famous (eg. : to attract people to buy his t-shirts), then maybe we could give a try.

What comes first to my mind is his wages. I think, he'll get more than Kaka if he comes. It will be a huge amount of money (a complete contract).

You mentioned that he had a bad 2006-2007 season which is when he scored the 21 goals. I was also pointing out that his bad 2006-2007 season (according to you) was actually on par with Kaka's award winning season. I did acknowledge that he's having a bad season this year which has been filled with injury problems and fallouts with the club. I agree that he doesn't deserve a 6 mil a year salary but I don't think that Kaka deserves a 6-7 mil/year salary either.

Point is: I don't think he would do badly if he came here. The 16 mil price is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'd have no problems if we got him for that price and a reasonable starting salary. As long as his purchase doesn't affect our rejuvenation in defense and midfield then I'm all for it. He's a creative player with a bit of pace and scores plenty goals per season, which is exactly what we're missing. If a bad season where he's off form gets him 21 goals then who knows what average - good form will do!
