I missed the match and must admit I'm disappointed with the result, and we're now in a very tough position to get 4th spot. Not impossible, but really it's asking a lot. These matches aren't to blame for us missing 4th spot, matches like Samp and Atalanta are.

I saw the highlights and a few things did catch my eye. The defence looked awful first and foremost, Simic and Favalli seemed to get caught out or beaten very easily. Maldini also struggled it seems, but when Simic and Favalli aren't doing their job, it doesn't make it easy for the man in the middle.

First Juve goal, Favalli got beaten very easily, but also I think Simic should have done better covering Del Piero. In addition Kalac shouldn't get beaten at that angle. Second Juve goal, Favalli again fails on his wing and Simic lost Trez.

There's a debate about Pippo's second goal. I believe that once the offside trap is broken, a new phase of play begins, and so Pippo shouldn't be called off as long as the pass to him is not forward moving.

Another problem that seemed to be apparent is the midfield didn't always protect the defence well enough. I don't remember seeing Gattuso at all in the highlights except for a moment where he almost lobbed Buffon.

Finally, Bonera caught my eye. I would appreciate it if someone who saw the match could spare a few words on his performance, other than the sending off (a poor challenge, I suspect a 2-3 game ban). He seemed to do pretty well, and maybe could be an interesting solution as a fullback (Tassotti's been giving him personal training, and the results are clear).

In Milan's case it's little different. There weren't too many horrible calls against Milan, but in every single match i notice how the fifty/fifty calls go against your team and how the refs hesitate to call a foul in Milan's favour, unless it's a clear one.
If I remember an article early in the season said refs/linesman cost us 12 points, and since then the decisions against us have been shocking.

I disagree that Milan didn't have horrible calls against them, as just like Juve refs have cost us numerous games this year with calls. This doesn't excuse our poor performances, but certainly for at least 2 years now, referees have damaged us badly.

TZhe referees are playing for Inter, there is not even a need to agree or disagree on that. But ALSO, the refs are not only prventing Milan from going for a scudetto ( aldough we are simply horrible so...), but laso for 4th place by making A LOT OF "MISTAKES" IN VIOLS'S FAVOLR. have you noiced that?

Last week it was a clear penalty for Reggina at 0:0, 300% penalty. And the "mistakes" against Milan are always a few in the game, but that is enough. Just enough.

however, we do deserve UEFA, and maybe even nothing, which wouldbe better. Its a shamefull performance from Silvio, Galliani, Carlo and some players this year.

Pirlo - Brocchi was the play of theday, made by super-Caro.

It is very very difficult next season our team to play in CL.
We still have 5 games!
3 of them difficult games.
1.Inter - Milan
2.Milan - Napoli (for me that game looks difficult)
3.Udinese - Milan
-----------------------
and 2 "easy" games
1.Milan - Livorno
2.Reggina - Milan

Yes, Fiorentina are being helped a lot. There were many debatable, some even scandalous, penalties in their favour.

One more thing that i can't understand is how could Collina put Gianluca Rocchi to be the ref on Juve-Milan ?
Rocchi is from Firenze, as is Fiorentina, and no matter how good referee Rocchi is, it's unacceptable a referee from the same time as Fiorentina to be the main ref in matches where Fiorentina's direct rivals play.

Why it ddoes seem that I a the only one who think that its usefull for Firontena to play and advance in the UEFA cup, think of it they win in Europe, gain more confedence so play better in Italy. any way this is not going to change any thing because when ever Firontena drop points we also drope like if we dont want to make it to CL.

In my opinion a team with both Simic and Favalli in the starting 11 will never win so the result was expected yesterday and adding Kalac as the GK behind them...............! To be honest Juve deserved to win the match we were much better in the first half but in the second it was all Juve even before sending Bonera off, our team had only wone shoot on Buffon in the second half and it was as week as a pass from Cafu which means that we did not try to win in the second half and that was not a surprise as well becasue Milan has lost their lead too many times this season after going to the dressing room in half time with one goal up (against Firontena, JUve Palermo, Inter, Roma ) which is also expected because a 35+ years old cant run for 90 mins.

What amazes me about Juve this year is that they did not lose any atch against any of their main rivales ( they drew with Roma and Milan in Rome Milan and win in Torine, and drew with Inter at home and then won away) so they collected 12 points from Milan, Roma and Inter, incredable isn't it?

Is Carlo is responsible for this defeat? I don't know we can't blame him alone (I usually do) but this time I will not, even though he shouldn't have subbed Pirlo for Brocchi and should have started with Cafu over any of Simic and Favalli.

All in all we lost the game and lost our last chance to play in the Cl next year and if wMilan didn't play as the should in the next 5 games then we might not play in the Uefa cup as well.

Congratulationds for Juve they deserved and forza Milan for ever.

So could anyone write about Bonera's overall performances. From what I gather from bits and pieces he was one of our best players on the night until the sending off.

I was impressed. He ran up and down, he was very useful in attack and Juve didn't create anything from their left side. He was very solid in defense and he was smart enough to take advantage of Molinaro's picknics in Milan's half.
Until the red card he was, imo, Milan's best player overall.

But that horrible tackle ruined everything. He apologized today and i'm sure he didn't mean to injure Sissoko, but such tackles are hard to forgive.

Of little consolation but Samp and Udine have lost, which means the pressure remains the same from the back. Alarming but still controllable.

thanks, much appreciated Tony. Do you think there's a possible long term role for him in this position? Last week he was arguably man of the match against Cagliari and last night it seems he did very well until the sending off. He's said Tassotti has been coaching him of late on playing as a right back and it seems to be paying dividends.

When I saw the highlights I did notice that very few of Juve's attacks came from Bonera's flank, which is promising.

As for the tackle on Sissoko, it's hard to accept such things, but I truly believe Bonera is sorry (as I stated in the thread in the Players section) and luckily Sissoko is ok. I think he will have to accept his punishment, as will all of Milan, but I'm curious about his performance as I see potential for a regular RB in him.

acmilan1983, Bonera has the potential to be Nesta's partner for the new era, no doubt... he has it all, confidence, class, strength, vision and is improving.. not the best full back but he is improving (but no way a long-term solution as a fullback). Honestly if we couldnt get Cannavaro or Juan for next year then i would prefer Bonera to be our starter at CB.. i believe he is already better than Kaladze

I'm pretty sure he played the RB with Italy's Under 21 4 years ago, and he played it several times with Parma too (probably more often than the CD). However I think he is better as a CD, because he is more defensive minded, though his crosses (the one he does every 4 games ), are pretty good, maybe working with him going up front more often wouldn't be a bad idea.

A battle to see who's the worse one between Milan, Samp and Udinese (and probably Fiorentina), today both Udinese and Samp lost...so we keep our 5th place.

He could be a good RB as he's proven that he can play there with some consistency. Maybe he isn't the most dangerous player when going forward, but our right side will be solid as a rock and opponents will find it very difficult to create anything there because of Bonera.

However, like hitmanq said, I would rather have him as a CB. Honestly, whenever he has played he has impressed. I don't remember him making any big mistakes or costing us goals. Of course, he has made mistakes.......everyone does, even Nesta. But overall he has been very solid and I will be more then happy with him being in the CD more often.

About yesterday, like Tony said, he was definately one of our best players, if not the best untill he got sent off. The composure to give that pass to Inzaghi was also impressive as most defenders would probably panic when they are eye-to-eye with the keeper like that.

Let's wait and see if Inter beats Fiorentina today. Samp, and Udinese have lost so the situation behind us stays unchanged. If Fiorentina wins tonight than it is all over. If they lose, there is still a big chance for us to make it.

I know some of you are saying we don't deserve CL. But if we don't, than neither does Fiorentina who have been just as inconsistent as us. After all that's why they only have 4 points more than us.

Totally agree with this. The team that deserves it is the one that will, in the end, get it. All of us (Milan. Fiorentina, Samp, Udinese) have been pretty inconsistent, so really no one but the one who reaches the 4th place deserves it.

Inter are winning 2-0. Looks like all our CL rivals lost this weekend, so this is a huge let off. Hopefully, Milan can start winning now.
