@kris:Point taken, you are right when you say that his career was plagued with injuries but my problem with him( and gattuso for that matter) is that he isn't very useful when we are on the attack, right? He can't dribble, can't cross, can't shoot...His passing is good, great header but....
If ronaldinho arrives, our formation will be similar to barca's 4-3-3 but i see a problem in the fact that their 3 man midfield of deco-iniesta-xavi can both defend and attack while in milan ambro and gattuso are useless in attack and pirlo is too slow for defense. as i wouldn't drop pirlo out, the only solution is to give him 2 players who are equally good in defense and attack like flamini and aquillani who can do the running and defending for him, and still be useful when we attack. Of course i would keep rino and ambrosini in squad for rotation, and throw brocchi and emerson out. |

Now I said before I rather use Seedorf in midfield than both Gattuso and Ambrosini and that is still my stance. Pirlo is not to slow for defense, unless he ends up wide protecting against one player. In the middle of the park speed is needed less.

Both Ambro and Rino are quality players for Milan and I am sick of people putting them down b/c of one bad season.
Flamini might be the next big thing at DM but quite frankly nobody knows how well he would adapt the Milan system. Just look at Sisosko, look at how he is playing now compare to the time he was at Pool. I actually watched Sisosko played live in HK and even though he was everywhere, I still think he was crap b/c he was against players that not even close to him and yet he failed to dominate. My point is that a team tactics might dictate how well the player's perform. Pls also remember that Wenger always get players that fits into his system instead of the other ways around. If I have to choose players that can beat Rino or Ambro for their spot, Essien is one of them and the other will probably be De Rossi. As those two are the only two clear cut better DM in my opinion. |

xavi-iniesta-deco was their standard midfield formation last year, this year they just rotate toure with them. These are some of the games this year in which they played together.
http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/engli...id/partit.html http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/engli...na/partit.html http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/engli...na/partit.html But it is not important who played, it is important that the players who featured play both ways, attack<->defense. All of them score often and i cant remember when gattuso&ambro scored or produced an assist or dribbled past somebody to create space for kaka. Aren't midfielders supposed to do that? |

Marquez = no thanks.
Deco = maybe, but still undecided. Deco-Pirlo-Flamini ... could that work? I'll admit i've not seen Deco play for a while, but the last time i saw him he still had some strong running & aggression in him. So maybe he could do it, though i'm not sure.

I really don't get this deal, it wouldn't leave us in a particularly fantastic position at all. Zambro is a signing I support, only if we get other reinforcements too. However, Deco and Marquez don't make much sense to me at all. Deco, who I've personally never rated that highly, isn't really a forward thinking purchase as he's 30 and his career's been on a downward slope. The only realistic reason I can see for his purchase is to play as a squad player should Seedorf or Gourcuff leave this summer. Even if this is the case, why look at players who are struggling (physically, form or both). I'd rather go for someone like Montolivo (who was also linked to us), who may not have had a great season, but is potentially a great buy (and Fio look willing to negotiate for). Marquez makes little sense to me as well. He's good, but not great, and like Barzagli I can't really see him being a great improvement over either Kaladze or Bonera. He can play DM, but really if we're getting a DM, we should look for a long term solution, not a 29 yr old who only has a couple of years left at the top. I hope these rumours aren't anything more than just that. The management themselves made it clear we need to look for young and upcoming talents this summer. Instead, all strong rumours (and comments from management)are for ageing players (except R10) who are currently on a downward slope in their career. |

3 or 4 players from the same big team? How likely is that? I would say zero percentage chance. I hope Zambro comes and Ronaldinho is still 28, the rest no. There are plenty of other name mentioned in this thread and other rumours that would be better.

Anyway, it is something stupid if we really do that ... 4 guys: one in poor form, one "old" and two who lost their place in first team !!
Taking Ronaldinho is ok, but taking these 4 guys from Barcelona is a real lack of ambition on the market !! Barcelona will probably sell these 4 guys, it's why if a club like us want them all, Barcelona won't refuse, it is simpler for them to sell them all to the same club instead of negociating with many clubs !! And that's the reason why I think this rumour could be true ... They would be anyway a good addition for the bench, that would even improve our bench, but don't we need 3-4 first team players (one to replace Ambro or Gattuso, one to replace Kaladze, one R/LB to replace Janku or Oddo, and one for GK) instead of 10 bench players ? By adding 3-4 first team players, the ones being starters this year but replaced next year would be a kind of recruies for us: they would go on the bench but could enter at anytime, whereas buying guys directly for the bench means that they don't know the team, and won't have time to usually play good (Gourcuff, Brocchi, Emerson for example). |

All the rest are crap (Ronaldinho included
) But I have always been a fan of Marquez. He can play a variety of defensive roles and is a decent left back.LEFT BACK PEOPLE!!! WE NEED A LEFT AND RIGHT BACK ![]()

hahahaha ... Marquez a decent left-back ... haha, thanks for making me laugh Dru
I don't think he's the answer to our defensive troubles buddy It's difficult to know which full-back to go for. Deep down we all know we won't get Vargas or Alves, so beyond those 2 who is there for the full-back slots? Well if Zambrotta is used as left-back, that leaves us with Eboue (who's quite inconsistent right now), Lahm (plays both sides), Lell (is he good enough?), Bosingwa, Rafinha (probably going to Liverpool even though he's signed a new contract) and now i'm struggling a bit. However, if Zambro is playing right-back, that leaves us with Pasquale (is he consistent enough?), Lahm (again), Emanulsen (is he ready for a bigger move?), Taiwo (is he consistent enough?) and that's about all i can think of. GeoTav will be able to give a better opinion of the players based in France, maybe he knows better players from Le Championat. Struggling for names really.

please forgive another long post
laugh all you want at Marquez but in the beginning he was amazing. A lot of Barca's players are underperforming not only Marquez and Ronaldinho.....but I agree that he isn't Milan material...it's just that the universe won't implode if he pus on a red and black shirt
One of the things we need in order to fix Milan is to change our mentality. Many if not all of us are shooting down dream transfers with the line "playerX" is too expensive let's get slightly older/$h!tt!er/riskier "playerY" who would cost less. I think I made this point already but it needs to be made again. In terms of the transfer market we should be going for the best or at least "one of the best" out there. Alves is or seems to be the best fullback out there. In terms of PACE he might be the best. Other good fullbacks are Rathino (potentially better but more risky), Ramos, Rafhina, Raggi, Vargas, Lahm, Lell Quaresma is imho the second best winger in the world...and not very far behind Ba. If we're getting a winger he should at least be comparable to Quaresma or CR7 and not a "great for the price" player or even worse "decent squad player" All I can think of is Quaresma, Nani, Rosina, Ribery, Malouda, Ben Arfa & Schweinsteiger As far as strikers go the best young prospects are Gomez, Aguero and Benzema Instead we are perpetually linked with a bunch of "free", "bargain", "pre-schoolers" "not-much-more-left-in-the-tank" or "past-it" players of the Caesar Apreciado, some crap epl nobody, Zambrotta( the least past it of the bunch), Boriello, Drogba and Sheva When you contemplate that Inter,ManU and Real had Championship winning teams and they BOTH heavily invested in the transfer market as well as Barca's and Liverpool massive investments every year as well as Chelsea's stupendous acquisitions every transfer window...it would be simply an outrage to end up with only a few $h!t transfers.

I am afraid those who do not accept or want Zambro, Drogba and the likes are almost certainly in for a disappointment...
